seems like few people don't understand the idea behind it.
you cannot see your coordinates on the screen
you cannot check your orientation as on compass.
this just returns "yes" to checks for "i have a compass" and "i have gps enabled". to use with specific vanilla gameplay json map settings.

i cant get it to work, put a battery in, turn on, put in on my hand, nothing happens

Seems it is not compatible with Expansion's GPS mini-map, I'm not able to toggle it without the Expansion's GPS (small square one).
