Hmm, what happens if you open it up running the African kingdoms mod and save it as an African Kingdoms scenario?

Thank you for your comment. This is just a template that I released for people to add resources as they choose. I did not have time to make my own world map with resources, but you can see Axa made one using this template below!
http://aok.heavengames.com/blacksmith/showfile.php?fileid=12267
Enjoy!
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Age2HD\mods
If you see the file there, open it up with your favorite archiving program (i.e. winzip/winrar) and extract the "===Realistic World Map 255x255=== v1.scx" file into your scenario folder, typically:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Age2HD\Scenario
That will complete the manual installation process and you should see it when you launch the game and open the scenario via the map editor.
You will have the base file back, as well as your modified file. In the future, make sure to save copies of the base file so you won't have to go through all these steps!
It took many hours of work to make this map, and yes I am planning on doing more!
Thanks for the feedback. In order to get the base file back, first make sure you rename your modified version to a different name! Next, click unsubscribe here to unsubscribe from the mod. Then you will need to navigate to your mods folder, typically:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Age2HD\mods
Delete the "Realistic World Map v1 (255x255)" file you see in that folder.
Finally, follow the installation steps again:
To install, click the "Subscribe" button. Then start the game, but do NOT click and bypass the developer introduction videos (Microsoft Game Studios, Ensemble Studios, Hidden Path Entertainment, and Skybox Labs). It is during these videos that the scenario is installed. Once you get to the main menu, exit the game and relaunch- you can skip the videos this time. The scenario should now be installed.
also do you think you could gice me a hand, i tryed to do some editing like adding mountain ranges etc to the map and overwrote the file by mistake... do you have any ideas on how to fix that without going into files and playing around with stuff i know little about?
if not do you know when you might be comeing out with a v2 or updates that i can download? cause this looks awesome and would be very cool to play.
PS. how long did it take to make?
Thanks again for the map and hope you do more like these!!
@WunderbarGirl
What do you mean? Since it is supposed to be a template, it is of course missing some things. I plan to make a full real world accurate playable world map as well, but for now I released this for the rest of the community to use.
@adamnesico
I used this projection since it was the only one available to me by NASA that provided bathymetry. If you know where I can find a Behrmann projection (flattened poles) map with similar detail, let me know.
I also have made a version without the poles but I have not released it yet.
Suggestion for the next: Don´t include the poles, they were unaccesible to medieval civs, so you will have more space for represent the settleable lands.
i have to say you did a good job !
