Unsurprising when one of the main features of the patch is overhauling the map. He also cannot update the mod so far since they haven't updated the mod pack yet.

not only does it not work with update 2.1, but it completely borks the map when loaded

Ah. That explains the "Better performance than I had expected" part. It looked to me like you'd also increased the number or cells that are drawn. Tried that myself and it utterly destroyed performance. Unfortunately wasn't able to make the number of cells that are drawn depend on zoom level.

That is still a bug I'm trying to resolve. Right now the mod only allows more zoom options.

Seems like it's not loading the map data beyond the normal max for me - when I zoom out that far, I just get the unexplored black, not terrain, factory or scan graphics

I will look at it asap. It seems like I don't manage the map focus correctly.

Better performance than I had expected from my own tries in doing this.

One thing I noticed: It seems that the move speed when you click and move around in the map is a bit off depending on zoom level. It might be that you missed one of the functions using the zoom level?
