@Gerewoatle: I don't think you should be thinking negatively about this seeing how well VFE: Medieval 2 turned out, though that won't stop me from being disappointed at there being no vaults.

new version here! For this release, I've added just one new backstory: adulthood backstory "bloodrunner".

However, the revisions to the previous backstories have been MASSIVE (full details are in the changelog).

I also have a number of completed backstories that haven't been released yet. I'm planning to give them some final tweaks before adding them. The majority of these are for the 'Offworld' origin (the most common spawn type, typically all your colonists will be "Offworld").

Furthermore, I'm looking to create new backstories specifically for the Empire faction. This update removed many of the new spawns that weren't Imperial-exclusive, and I want to better differentiate the core RimWorld tech with the Empire's unique background.

This is the only time I have done something that might cause trouble if you had a colonist with the backstory of "botanist apprentice". It was a fairly new backstory, so the chances of it are really low (I hope).

@Ostrich-Hungry - I agree. Honestly, the faction, living in and finding the secret bunkers (and all the submods related to it) were by far the more interesting part of the mod. I never had much use for the blatantly overpowered supersoldier stuff, and I'm not sure why they'd choose to create yet another inevitably grossly overpowered system of abilities when they already have VPE to remove all challenge from the game.

But with that said, it's not out yet. I suppose I'm just pessimistically speculating.

@Gerewoatle: That's awfully sad, for many reasons. Poor people who did those amazing submods around vaults or even mechanics like the sling relay.

@Ostrich-Hungry - From what I've been able to discern, they seem to be focusing primarily or exclusively on the supersoldier genetics part of Ancients rather than the faction.

Umm, the Vanilla Expanded team are going to make the ancients exclusively a quest? Does anyone know anything?

I mean... won't you be able to play them anymore? God, thank goodness I haven't been making new backstories for them, lol.

If that's the case, I'll adapt many of those backstories to the regular pool.
If they remain a separate faction, I'll leave things as they are.

Maaaany of the initial backstories I created were subsequently reworked with a new perspective and a significantly higher level of quality. Having spent some time on the project, My standards are far clearer now.

Thank you to everyone who supported this mod and gave it SO much visibility. I'm almost embarrassed because for a long time there were some stinky quality backstories and nobody complained. What a nice public.

I'm actively working on improving the ones that ended up being too convoluted or shallow, but to be honest most of them are quite good right now.

@schmidtkaffee: Lol, no, not at all! I just think it's absurd to make a pizza the core of a backstory. It assumes pizza delivery exists in Rimworld, which isn't insane, but it introduces a totally mundane element into a setting that's all about the breakdown of normality. (For context, it's a reference to "Futurama").

@Turu D. Sleep: yes! I worked that in an update. Now there is almost no disables, trust me. I will take a look to some of the older backstories and see which ones makes sense to enable disabled works.

This looks good, but there are too many backstories that disable certain skills and disable dumb labor. I always need to use character editor to reroll their backstories if I capture a pawn with great stats. Wish there’s a setting to tweak this.

Well,I am updating the translation, looks like you changed the text of cryo delivery. When i translating, i found that the cheese pizza is in the double quotation marks, so does it refers to a real pizza or something else?
I thought it might related to something Epstein did, but it doesn't make sense in the text, so i need some help.

I'm planning to add some backstories for menial work, with little to no effect on stats. For example, someone who worked at a docking bay moving boxes, or had other boring, tedious jobs. It would just be for added flavor.
I could add some incredibly interesting and strong backstories just to balance this. It will be a matter of luck if you get one or the other.

What do you guys think? Don't worry, for the time being I will continue the same.

@Zero: I'm not sure if I can do this without a proper framework, as it involves 'pawn types' or 'pawn races'. I only have access to factions, and even that is limited. I'd probably need to work with a more experienced modder to handle this kind of thing.

- new adulthood backstory: deathsquad operative.

- new adulthood backstory: titan engineer.
- removed "VTE_Coward" from "TankCommander"
- "fortress commandant" now has "Construction" bonus instead of "Shooting". Also, tweaked his stats.
- fixed redundant text in "seafarer"
- removed "failed martyr" and "war hero" from spawning. need to improve the writing of both.

Hey OH! Been using your mod since the first day, and I can clearly feel your passion for writing backstories!
I think maybe you can try to write some specific race-bonded backstories for races in Vanilla and Vanilla Races Expanded? Because I find that all of them are still rolling backstories in vanilla rules, which makes many weird scenarios, imagine this -- a Hussar who need to take Juice or Luciferium to survive, generated with a poor tribe/medieval backstory...
I have tried hard to find if there is any backstory mod on this, but found none.
