Hunker Down Flanking Fix V2

Can you make this mod do the opposite: purposely allowing the initiation of the hunker down action without cover? I want scared scientists to be able to 'react defensively', ie hunker down even when they are out in the open (if they can't make it all the way to some cover with their second move). Think crouching or laying prone as necessary.

Hmmm

Is this WOTC compatible?
Destrudo  [author] 18 Apr @ 2:59am
No, it isn't. LWOTC has this fix integrated, albeit without dodge bonus toggle

is this bug fix integrated in the community highlander?

I'm unsure if I've overlooked something, but the template appears to only have two config variables for dodge and defense. Effect classes linked to the ability don't appear to have any config options at all. And besides, I didn't regenerate configs in my game after fixing the issue.

Please, take no offense, I'm not trying to stir up an argument, just genuinely curious about this.
LeyShade 15 Apr @ 2:17am
@Destrudo - it's because the hunker down is config controlled, once set incorrectly it wouldn't change back until the configs were regenerated, even if the correct settings were applied within your mod.
Destrudo  [author] 14 Apr @ 7:43pm
The mod is a straightforward OPTC edit, it shouldn't require clearing the configs. At any rate, I'm glad everything is working.
Joe Marotta 14 Apr @ 7:37pm
I cleared the local configs and unsubcribed and re-subscribed. I can confirm this is working as described. Thanks!
LeyShade 14 Apr @ 6:36am
@Joe Marotta - you'll need to wipe your local configs in the My Documents folder for Destrudo's fix to take proper effect on a campaign already in progress.
Destrudo  [author] 11 Apr @ 11:34pm
I double-checked, hunker down puts out fire for both XCOM and aliens. Have you tried to unsubscribe and resubscribe? If the bug persists, try to start a new mission, though it shouldn't be necessary under normal circumstances. If neither step resolves the issue, it's likely a mod conflict
Joe Marotta 11 Apr @ 2:33pm
Thanks for making the change. Unfortunately, it is still not working.
Destrudo  [author] 9 Apr @ 3:52am
@Joe Marotta
That's an oversight on my part. Should be fixed now, thank you for letting me know.

It seems that this mod changes removes burning when hunkering down. Although I have added multiple mods it could be from but this is likely cause of change. Is this intended?
DaViper 6 Apr @ 7:53pm
And never EVER add/change/remove a mod for a tactical save. Bad mojo lies that way. :steamhappy:
I'm testing this very thing after I hit 'enter'. I've been running with the old version just chugging away, but anytime I detect 'more efficient' I just gotta try. Running 500+mods means efficiency is necessary.

p.s. "remove missing mods" is an absolute lifesaver for this type of 'updating' mid campaign.
Destrudo  [author] 5 Apr @ 8:33pm
It should be safe. If you don't want to see warning screen afterwards, install and use this to unbind the old fix from you saves.
Ironmonk 5 Apr @ 2:04pm
is it safe to remove Hunker Down Flanking Fix WOTC mid-campaign and install this in its place?
MrMister 4 Apr @ 12:37am
Thanks mate.
Destrudo  [author] 3 Apr @ 5:31am
@MrMister It has the toggle - DodgeBonusWhenFlanked in XComGameCore.ini. I actually implemented it from your feedback on the other mod:lunar2019piginablanket:
MrMister 3 Apr @ 4:59am
I'd actually welcome a variant (or config toggle here) that like the original only removes the defense but not the dodge bonus when flanked/exposed, but uses your allegedly less messy implementation.
Destrudo  [author] 2 Apr @ 8:18pm
@MrCloista In hindsight, the error's cause was so obvious, it's slightly embarrassing

@Zigg Price Defense bonus of Hunker Down is conditional in Enemy Unknown/Within, it doubles the cover bonus unless the target is flanked. In XCOM 2 it's harder to see that's something's off because Aliens don't have Hunker Down by default. But once you add it through mods, well... Whether the whole thing is a bug or not, it's up to a player to decide. I consider unconditional bonuses a bug, based on Hunker Down description and because otherwise it should probably be usable outside cover
Zigg Price 2 Apr @ 12:11pm
This never struck me as a bug. Hunker down presents smaller target, which is represented by increased defense. Yeah, maybe the dodge thing is a little weird, but video game logic.

Glad you managed to get this working in the end, looking forward to using it.
