this is exactly what i was looking for!! Thank you!
My only request for an additional feature would be to prevent the mushroom from dying in areas where it cant grow? For example my stout funnel keeps dying inside buildings and then immediately regrowing, causing a flashing effect and making it hard to harvest

I don't think this works, nothing happened after I added compost to my cultivator.
