That would probably work! I was worried about running into problems when there are lots of groups concurrently using voice channels. I personally would rather have fewer channels that I know are going to work, than an unlimited amount that would be subject to a concurrency limit. Like playing an a cheap electric piano that only has five notes lol. Nice idea though, thanks! 😁
Clients: make sure you repair your mod and close your launcher.
Servers: Update the mod and make sure you're using the new key "CatTacRadio1.bikey".
- There are now 10 channels instead of 8.
- Admins and Mission makers can enforce side restrictions on radio channels (CBA, restart required).
- Custom channel text chat now displays the user's name who sent the message.
- There is now a sub-menu for viewing who is subscribed to a channel.
I like the idea of radio noises, I'll add it my list list of "nice to haves". Thanks!
@kokujo
It seems like that mod only adds the noises to Global, Side, and Group channels. Maybe you could contact them about adding the sounds to custom channels as well

@KMR-317
Theoretically it wouldn't be a huge leap to convert to a script version. I want to get a few features implemented and then I'll consider converting it. Is there a specific mission you're thinking about? Just curious 😁
Hi Edi, I appreciate your feedback 😁
I'll try to address your suggestions and then update the mod's description to give others a heads up.
1.
For this project, my goal is a simple radio mod to augment the systems that Arma has in place.
Group management is going to be a bit ambitious, I would rather focus my time on the radio aspects.
2.
I'm going for an Admin/Mission maker forward approach to channels setup, so I'll probably confine channel renaming to the CBA settings.
Displaying the users subscribed to a channel is a feature that will be added soon!
3-4.
Since the mod uses arma's base chat features, there are a limited number of channels we can use.
Also since it uses arma's base chat system, you can already use "." and "," to cycle through your activated channels. 👍
Coming soon: update that will up this limit to 10 channels.
5.
Since we're taking an Admin/Mission maker forward approach, CBA settings are a good way to force and update changes.
6.
Great point! CBA already has a system for this.
In eden editor, you can go to Settings -> Addon Options -> Mission Tab -> Cat Tactical Radio and change the channel settings there (make sure to overwrite clients and make sure server settings don't overwrite the mission).
Mid-mission changes aren't supported currently, due to radio channel initialization happening on the server. This might change in the future, but honestly isn't the biggest priority.
7.
Side restricted channels are coming soon! I'm hoping to have this on the next update.
Thanks again for your perspective, your post has been a helpful read 👌
6. Can the Admins, Zeus or Mission Maker leave those channels allready named for everyone before launching the scenareo? Or can the Group Leader change it for everyone?
7. A feature to avoid be heard by another side players (BLUFOR-OPFOR). Maybe managed by Admins, Zeus or Mission Makers to manage PVE - PVP scenareos.
I see great potential in this mod already, but if you manage to replicate even just in part the TFAR main functionallyties without the need for TeamSpeak it would be way greater. A lot of players and communities that can't afford a teamspeak server would be glad. Wish you the best with this mod! TY!
1. Is it possibly to create a game's radio looking display (Ctrl + U) in wich we manage, create, disolve, join, leave or rename groups?
2. Can we rename the channels from the Ctrl + U menu in a future? and to have a button to display/fold the players list to see whose's inside each channel without need to see the list all the time?
3. Is it possibly to add a display to set the channels frequencies ourselfs (more than 8 options) instead of limit ourselfs to only 8 frequencies = 8 channels? and then use the num pad only for those frequencies we saved (saved channels). More like real radios or as TFAR does.
4. A feature to also change between previous and next channel with game's predefined "," and "." so we can have more than 8 channels.
*i'm sorry i didn't write it in one message
I'll add your suggestions to my to do list.
May I ask if possible to expand the radio UI functionality with an additional button to show a Group management UI (on the same radio) that allows us to join groups, leave groups, become leaders, remove group members etc.
Would be so awesome to have all the functionalities under one device.
Other than that this is already so much better than anything we had before ;)
Feel free to use it in your server pack, as long as there is a link, attribution, and indication of changes made.

This is a brilliant addition and we would appreciate it if we could use it.
i/e a side check and side specific channels between OPFOR / BLUFOR?
