@Fluffy Cotton Candy More precisely, at the end of 1941, the production of the more complex and expensive PPD-40 (required a large number of milled parts) was discontinued in favor of expanding the production of the PPSh (produced by stamping). The exception was Leningrad, which was under siege - there, for the needs of the Leningrad and Karelian fronts PPD was produced until 1942 in a simplified version. The "blockade" PPDs were distinguished by a simplified folding sight instead of a sector sight and a simplified safety.
