cooooooooooool a land vehicle? Thats amazing! Its stupid there isen't already a control for wheels, it's super awsome if you can steer this one.(sorry i'm a dutch man so it's hard to type in ingelish
Dramer 15 Feb, 2015 @ 2:01pm
oh ok i thought you connected the power wheels to the Controller.
btw thanks for the fast answers.
hey, as you seem to be involved with the community: i have a plane in my workshop called "MinePlane" which is supposed to throw mines from high above, but somehow it always closes in to the enemy while engaging despite i have set the minimum hight to over 200. If you have time it would be great if you could take a look at it.
Firedune  [author] 15 Feb, 2015 @ 1:54pm
wheels don't realy work yet. it's currently powered by ion thrusters which will push it along at a decent pace. the wheels just prevent damage from touching land.
Dramer 15 Feb, 2015 @ 1:39pm
i didnt find the option on the wheels to connect them to the CC unlike it is with the spin blocks and stuff like this.
Firedune  [author] 15 Feb, 2015 @ 12:36pm
you need to place the CC and then keymap the parts themselves.the controller dosn't have seperate mods so it's goof for stuff like this.
Dramer 15 Feb, 2015 @ 6:38am
ok got the driving to work. How did you get the powered wheels to connect with the complex controller? i want to build an underwater-car so i need to use wheels
Dramer 15 Feb, 2015 @ 5:24am
somehow i cant control the wheels. my controller simply wont go into Land Mode.

Grats Firedune on getting this to front page :3
And now I have to make my "failing" destroyer designs, I am going though many types of designs of hulls mainly.

A land vehicle in a naval game?!? Wow, how is this possable?
Leyline 24 Nov, 2014 @ 9:32am
Hahaha, this thing is fun. I tend to make only ships and flying things, so having a capable unit to camp the land masses with is actualyl hilariously awesome, especially when you invade the parts of the map with lots of land.

I have 2 more suggestion to make: please make a medium ranged ballistic missile thing, think scud so we can shoot over mountains, and create a huge plane where you can dock the launchers after you have driven them in the cargo area. ^^

Make it Vtol too.

Slight update, but one that will hopefully make things a lot easier. Advanced controls have been set up so now it's super easy to drive, Just use the Passenger seat/ Use your typical boat keys(T,G,Y,and I) to drive forwards, backwards, left, and right (respectively). It's still not the most stable thing so i've left the naval AI in to make sure it will fight mostly properly when in the water. You can really take advantage of the unit to the fullest when controlling it manually though.
There's also been a bit of an engine upgrade to compensate for the increased power demands (pesky ion thrusters).

Thanks for downloading and have fun!

UPDATE TIME!!!
Thanks to a few people (mainly Dilin, thanks bud), the BastionLRM is now back and better than ever. Here's a rough list of the most important changes:

1) -Engine Power is now sitting at a rather comfortable 60(hp?) with power to move the thing on land up most slopes.
2)-Cab has been reshaped slightly to add in the extra goodies. Get a buddy in the gunners's seat or man them yourself safe inside the cab!
3)-Ammo system has been revamped a bit, at the cost of explodability. Quite a few ammo barrels have been added negating the need for most of the ammo processors.
4)- Missiles and the launcher have been considerably reworked considering that is what's doing most of the work.
-Launcher: Now controlled by a single controller and missiles are now properly staggered.
-Missiles: Proudly featuring the 13-block Bastion IV missile, you can now confidently slam the farthest targets whether they be in the seas or skies.

I'll definitely work on tweaking the LRM some more! Thanks for bringing up the issues and i'll adress them with my planned changes:
1: Yeah, the idea was to be able to time the missiles at a staggered fire rate though i wasn't quite sure how the attatchments worked. it works but it can be made better, and for less resources. I also plan on switchng to a 360 turret so that it can shoot up a bit.
2: A good part of the engine power I believe is going to the ion thrusters, since wheels currently don't do anything the engine SHOULD be fine once the appropriate updates are in place.
3: To be fair i hadn't done a huge amount of testing with thing beyond spawning in some larger ships out in the distance, parking the LRMs on an island (harder than it sounds) and seeing if i can outrange them. The idea for the proximity fuse in the back was so that if it missed slightly, the missile would still detonate slightly beyond the armor and possibly hit some lighter armor on the deck.

Honestly, everythings going to change when the land, resource, campaign, and multiplayer updates hit, but up until then there's not a huge need for support. It's relatively cheap to make, and only impacts your resources once something waddes into their range. It's a cheap carrier for big missiles and it does it's job well.

Once land gets a purpose i intend to use these as mobile coastal batteries where they should out-range and overwhelm all but the toughest of enemies if they try and come over my land :)
RichyN25 19 Nov, 2014 @ 6:19pm
Cargo ships will be needed once the cargo for resources is implemented, I've already made a little barge lol
Firedune  [author] 19 Nov, 2014 @ 5:41pm
That's a great idea, and i'll make it able to have ammo truck support, but at this point it's pretty pointless due to there being not enough flat land to place these kinds of things! It's easier to have it all self-contained at the moment to make it work as a sea-going vessel.
RichyN25 18 Nov, 2014 @ 4:39pm
Excellent look! Will be great to see when Land vehicles get more playable and such, you can get ammo for free by increasing the amount of ammo barrels to increase the free ammo regen rate :) However proccessors are much faster but require metal and power
