LWOTC Bridge - Viper Classes

So, I'm having an issue with the heavy gunner not having access to the area suppression that it's supposed to get at squaddie. Other than that the class is working perfectly. I'm not sure where the conflict is, as it is the only proficiency class that I am using that has any issues. The mod is beautiful, but I would love some input as to why that issue might be happening.

All of the various (Non-Viper) soldier classes in LWOTC can't equip anything except a pistol in their pistol slot, except to keep it empty. The latter is the default, in order to keep up your mobility, unless the soldier is deliberately investing in the use of the pistol.

Since the described issue forces every soldier to have a pistol that they can't un-equip, the solution must be some means of allowing that to happen. As for a list of classes...that's a whole lot. I'm not even sure I can come up with a full list of them. You have your basic LWOTC group, ShadowOps, all of Pet Rock's, some by Merist, Tedster's versions of Kiruka's, and more.

I see. In that case, if you would like, I can add a new "weapon" that is an "empty" slot for the pistol for those classes, that does not modify weight or anything else. I could even open it to config so you can adjust the stats of the item. Give me the classes you are using and I can add that compatibility here for those specific classes, or give me the kinds of weapons you would want them to be able to equip that is NOT a pistol and I can do that.

Pt. 3:
Many modders add in a sort of plug-in file that provides an override to another mod, in this potential example to DPS 2.0, that would remove the block from the other classes' use of the pistol slot. I'm familiar with .ini editing but I'm not a formal modder, so I don't know for certain whether this sort of thing would work in this case. I brought the issue up so that you, perhaps working with other modders, can figure out what would be the solution to the problem so that your classes truly ARE compatible with LWOTC, at least in a non-balanced sense (Prof classes are by nature not balanced for the "pure" LWOTC / Tedjam+ experience, but I'm not terribly concerned about that when things like Requiem are also around, trying their hardest to kill our soldiers...)

Pt 2:
The core issue is that when DPS 2.0 is in use instead of LWOTCs pistol slot, it's apparently "locking" the pistol slot for all NON-Viper classes, forcing them all to have a pistol equipped that can't be removed. Pistols in LWOTC have weight, which causes a -1 mobility penalty unless the soldier buys Quick Draw from the XCom deck, a 10-point AP purchase that is often not the ideal selection for many classes. It certainly shouldn't be a soft requirement, at least.

To make DPS 2.0 work within LWOTC so that your method works for your classes, it has the described unintended side effect, and from what I've researched it requires players to manually edit DPS 2.0 to include all of the other classes to allow them to un-equip their pistols. I think that's the case, anyway - that part I have not yet tested confirm that it would even work.
geh4th 24 Jul @ 3:24pm
Sure. While I'm frequently prone to doing so myself, I haven't yet messed with actually doing any .ini hacking to try to fix the issue, but I'll try to explain more. I'm using LWOTC obviously, along with Tedjam+, most compatible class mods, and a few class mods that technically are not, such as many of the Proficiency classes that have been modified to work in LWOTC. All of those work fine, but none have the extra weapon options that your classes have. Hence the issue with DPS 2.0., which as established doesn't directly work within LWOTC without turning off the inherent pistol slot (that this mod does.)

(Since you asked, I must warn that this will be long-winded and in multiple parts. Please bear with me.)

Okay, would you mind providing more details about the issue that you are experiencing? Maybe I can help you fix it!

I'm well aware of the boolean you refer to, and FYI I DID test the issue before commenting. I am quite well educated regarding LWOTC and .ini files, so you can stuff your implied insult, too.

The problem I described exists ONLY when your mods and DPS 2.0 are installed alongside LWOTC/Tedjam+ and the various compatible class mods. The conflict is derived from your using DPS as a crutch to hack your classes' gear into an LWOTC environment, not from this mod directly.

To use LWOTC with its inherent classes and those commonly used alongside it (Pet Rock, ShadowOps, Merist's, etc.) a player needs to disable that boolean in LWOTC's ini's, and then manually edit DPS 2.0 so that every OTHER class in use has its ability to properly equip pistols restored. That's not "minimal" effort, and you mention nothing about any of that above. If this mod is intended to enable ONLY your classes and for players not to use any others, maybe you should plainly say that in the description.

Part 1:
No. You are horridly misinformed. LWOTC created a boolean to toggle whether or not the pistol slot will use 2.0 OR their own version. By default, theirs is enabled and it disables the 2.0. With this mod, it changes that so that you CAN indeed use other things other than pistols in that slot in 2.0.

That being said. I DO NOT touch the LWOTC classes. They are using whatever the mod authors enabled them to use in the pistol slot. MY classes are coded to use the weapons I designated them in the pistol slot.
Dęąth Viper  [author] 23 Jul @ 11:40pm
Part 2:
So to sum it up. Yes, inherently pistol slot 2.0 is incompatible. That's the entire purpose this bridge exists. I only support MY classes, so any other classes will still default to pistol unless you edit the configs to include other weapons / trinkets.

There COULD be other problems with LWOTC that I am unaware of, but haven't recieved any comments from the 500 subs on this about it not working, so I assume it works. It is better to try something to see if it works than making uneducated comments. Have a good day!

Dedicated Pistol Slot 2.0 directly conflicts with LWOTC, which means that this mod and all of its associated classes do not work as intended. When combined with this mod, the conflict results in every soldier class (from any source) used in LWOTC being equipped with a pistol by default, and much worse, that pistol CANNOT be removed. Since pistols incur a -1 mobility penalty in LWOTC, it is an extremely debilitating situation that most LWOTC players would find unacceptable.

Your classes look very interesting for the purposes of a non-standard LWOTC campaign run, so I encourage you to look for an alternative way to make them compatible with LWOTC without relying on the Dedicated Pistol Slot 2.0 mod.

correct!
Zets 3 May @ 10:22pm
So i should unsub/disable:
[WOTC] LW2 Secondary Weapons

[WOTC] LW2 Classes and Perks

Is that correct? Sorry, I havent modded this game in years.
Thanks for making your mods btw, Glad to see the modding scene is still alive :)

Wouldnt this mod prevent the other classes from using the pistol perks? Since they cant equip one anymore making them have less firepower overall

I am quite looking forward to the LWotC versions, It can't be easy coming up with all of these and putting them in, I've recently tried to touch the Playable chosen mod as a first timer and according to the experts on the field, I would've probably just got myself offed trying to convert it to LWotC, so keep up the great work mate. :coolthulhu:

Its installed and enabled :)
Dęąth Viper  [author] 1 Feb @ 3:40pm
Make sure you have smart pistol installed LOL. Thats a requirement for the hacker...
Leokosta 1 Feb @ 3:36pm
Just consoled a soldier into a hacker. So far, on the abilities, the following icons are missing: arc haywire , electromaster and electrocute. Gonna take this habilities and take her to a mission, and see if its working. Pistol Slot 2.0 enbled.Edit: I can not equip anything on Primary. It keeps a default rifle and no options to change.

Let me know asap if you have any issues. I took a break from modding but I am back in action now.
Dęąth Viper  [author] 1 Feb @ 11:12am
Safe to ignore that error. I am using LWOTC now myself and everything is working fine. The ONLY issue is the icons swapper makes the image that wonky shit. I'll properly release an LWOTC version of the classes after i finish the vanilla wotc version of the class pack.
Leokosta 1 Feb @ 11:10am
Yep, trying to delete them, its no letting me. Its the screenshot showing error saying LWOTC wont work correctly with Pistol Slot 2.0. Thank you, gonna test the hacker class tonight and see if everything is alright without Pistol Slot 2.0. Thx
Dęąth Viper  [author] 1 Feb @ 10:50am
The smart pistol is the only that needed any editting and it has the proper configs in it built into the hacker class. Everything else, LWOTC already has prebuilt primary lw2 secondaries.

Also, two of your comments were bleeped out by the system you naughty guy.
Leokosta 1 Feb @ 8:38am
How about Primary Secondaries when using True Primary Secondaries ? Thx
