Thank you

I have been through many headlight mods, and none of them were what I was wanting. I didn't want superman headlights, or 1,000,000 lumen lights. This one, I like, it should be near the top of the search.

Glad I´ve found this MOD, you´re my man! :)

"I used to hate driving at night. I would coordinate my rest periods so I would sleep through the night and only drive during daytime hours. With this mod, I now look forward to driving at night."
THIS!

Da_Nero [Inh.DWTrans], there shouldn't be any problem enabling this mod. If it worked for you up until a few days ago, there must be something on your system that is preventing it from running. Did you enable another headlight mod above this one? If so, the one that is higher up will be used by the game. Try starting a new profile with only this mod enabled and then do a quick job. You will see that it still works.
Da_Nero [Inh.DWTrans] 31 May @ 3:33am
nice mod that is really good, but since a few days you can no longer activate it
Old Timer 3 May @ 3:50pm
Thank you for the work put into your two headlight mods for ATS and ETS2 and for allowing the community to use them. I use all four of them and am pleased with the results.

Bummer, thanks for trying my headlights again.

Tried your MOD two months ago, but went back to "realistic headlighting" because of the bright spots left and right of the truck. But now this will be my permanent headlighting MOD. Night time in ATS seems very short now, because it is a pleasure to drive at night. Keep up the good work.

Your hard work is appreciated :longhaul::doublenickels:

Moxica, don't be fooled when driving on real dark black asphalt. The road doesn't light up very well. However, in this next update, I've managed to light up the darker pavements better without making the lighter ones too bright. The big advantage to this mod is the ability to see well when making a turn while maintaining some realism.
Moxica 5 Mar @ 3:05pm
The difference with or without this mod is so tiny it's barely noticeable. I had to disable and re-enable it twice to see it was even working. Don't be so careful, add options to boost bulb watts up from these 5 watt to steps like 100, 250, 500, 1000+ watt. ATS really need aux lights, like the ones that are standard in ETS2
maurice  [author] 5 Mar @ 1:24pm
Rando, thanks. The next update is even better. I'm pretty sure it will be sometime this weekend. I have to test drive every single truck, both SCS and Modded, and also in ETS2.
Rando Parisian 5 Mar @ 12:28pm
Soooooo good!!!

Good luck bro and thanks for the quick reply about my question a few days ago

I plan on releasing another update to this headlight mod next weekend. Here are the highlights: Better light distribution down the road. The lighting is more equal between the various colors of pavement, brighter and more noticeable on dark black asphalt and less bright on white concrete. The amount of light projected looks very similar on each type of pavement. The beams light up a narrower path on down the road without affecting the wider path near the front of the truck. There is hardly any reflected light escaping out into the distance on both sides. This used to be quite noticeable in desert areas. It is currently in the testing and fine tuning stage.
maurice  [author] 28 Feb @ 12:10pm
The mod code has no way to know if a particular truck is lighting up both the high beams and low beams together when the high beams are on. Right now, it is lighting them both up because most trucks do it this way. Later on, I might look from the front of each individual truck and see which ones light up both and which ones only light up the high beams and then I will code that particular truck to do just that. For now, you get both high beam and low beam together when the high beams are on.
Sneaky Oxygen 28 Feb @ 10:53am
Love the mod and I also have it installed for ETS 2 which works perfectly because most of my trucks has roof lights but I have a question for ATS, since ATS trucks usually don't have options for truck lights, should the high beam and low beam both work instead of just the high beams lighting up the road?

My experience on ETS 2 trucks with roof lights don't use both low and high beam when I press the high beam keybind. Though, both low beam and high beam light up instead of just the high beam when the roof lights are off.

I can send some pics thru DM if my explanation is confusing (which I know would be confusing to others as well) so I can describe and explain my question better. Sorry for the broken English

Zeti, this mod works very well in 1.53. If it's not working for you, maybe you have another headlight mod that is positioned above it. If so, that one would be in use, not this one. Make sure you don't have any other headlight mods activated.
Zeti 6 Feb @ 8:14am
Doesn't work in version 1.53... :-(
maurice  [author] 4 Feb @ 7:07am
Surprisingly, it appears as though this new update requires less CPU and GPU resources than the stock SCS headlights. The ATS SCS trucks will get updated first, followed by the ATS modded trucks, and then the ETS2 SCS trucks. I have not done a version for any ETS2 modded trucks yet. I'm waiting on suggestions on which trucks to begin with. The new International 5000 by Smarty will also be included in this update for the ATS modded trucks. Watch for the updates beginning this coming weekend.
maurice  [author] 4 Feb @ 7:05am
If all goes well, I hope to release an update this weekend. The lighting artifact up high on either side of the truck if you get close to another vehicle or building is gone. There is more coverage of light to both sides of the truck on the ground and not as bright, just enough to see well when turning. This way, it doesn't disturb you out the corner of your eyes during normal driving. The appearance of the beams near the front of the truck on the pavement is much nicer. With all of these improvements, the visibility down the road ahead is still very good and perhaps even more natural and realistic looking.

Lives up to its title ! Over the years I've tried/used about every one available, sticking with this one. Thumbs up
maurice  [author] 29 Jan @ 9:05pm
wilberforce, glad you like it. It will only get better. Wait until you see the next revision.
wilberforce 29 Jan @ 5:50pm
I've used at least 3 headlight mods, including the one with the most subscriptions, but yours is the best. In particular, you enhanced the lights on both sides, which made me more confident whether driving straight on the highway or turning at a dark intersection.
wilberforce 29 Jan @ 5:44pm
Love this Mod. Thank you, thank you.
maurice  [author] 29 Jan @ 12:29pm
Lone Trucker, I forgot to mention that if you tried putting my mod below the truck mod, then my mod would not have been in use at all. It is only used if it is above the truck mod. No other type of mod can activate it since it only contains headlights that are used by the trucks. You could also try taking on a quick job with an SCS truck and see if the problem still exists. If the problem goes away, then I would say it has something to do with the Collins truck.
maurice  [author] 29 Jan @ 5:44am
Lone Trucker, when you said "does it both with this one and the scs one", I took that to mean that it does it with the Collins truck and the SCS truck. But, if you meant with my headlights and the SCS headlights, then the issue has to be caused by another mod since turn signals and headlights are two completely different lighting objects. Looking forward to your results of removing the traffic mods one by one.

Lone Trucker 307 29 Jan @ 2:54am
i dont know if it does it with any other truck seeing that the rollin truck is the only one i use

i did put your mod above and below the truck and above and below the traffic mods and it still did the same thing but that was what i was thinking i was thinking it was either the mod and how it works with the truck and trailer i have or the it was a mod conflict with another mod first ones that i thought of that it might conflict with was the traffic mods seeing that it also did it with the AI traffic too but ya ill take out the traffic mods and see what it does and let you know
maurice  [author] 28 Jan @ 10:09am
Lone Trucker 307, if it happens with the stock SCS 389 also, then the issue is not with the Joel Collins truck. It's got to be one of the traffic mods causing a problem. It seems strange that it only happens when the turn signals or emergency flashers are on. My mod has nothing to do with the turn signals. Try removing the traffic mods to see if the problem goes away. If it goes away, let me know which traffic mod it was and I'll install it and test it.
maurice  [author] 28 Jan @ 10:04am
Lone Trucker 307, I've never seen anything like this happen. That truck mod is obviously referencing the stock SCS Peterbilt 389 headlights for this mod to work with it. Does this happen with any other truck that you have? Maybe move my mod above the traffic mods you have and see if that fixes the conflict.
Lone Trucker 307 28 Jan @ 5:28am
the mod is good the only issue i have is when you turn the turn signals on either left or right or the 4 ways it lights up a whole HUGE square that is blinding causes the AI traffic to do that too and it looks like the 4 ways are on when yo just turn on either the left or right blinkers does it both with this one and the scs one i run the joel collins rollin truck hopefully that is something you can fix i do have a few AI traffic mods could be a mod conflict on m,y end too lol let me know
thanks

Excellent, I can enjoy driving at night now. LOL Made a huge difference. The ability to see a side street to turn into now is tremendously helpful. I hated not being able to see a street to turn into in pitch black darkness.Well done.

maurice  [author] 26 Jan @ 6:30pm
What you are seeing at the side is only visible if you get next to something and then only if you look to the left or right. It is an unfortunate by-product of making the headlights work they way they do. Nothing can be done about that light artifact on both sides. Fortunately, most of the time, it isn't seen under normal driving conditions. I might have a way to eliminate it. The next major update might take care of it. If I make that lighting that shows up near both sides dimmer, it will also dim everything on down the road. After a while, you might get used to it.
Bummer (major) 26 Jan @ 5:28pm
Like your mod, very good forward visibility. It looks like you have an extra set of headlights left and right of the truck. Is it possible to adjust their brightness, or are they connected to the main headlights. because if you can I would prefer them to be dimmer.
maurice  [author] 26 Jan @ 4:35pm
FilMit, I have about 7 or 8 truck models left to work on in ETS2. I might get them done tonight. If not, then I will continue working on them either Wednesday or Thursday night. Then I will be doing some test driving. So, the ETS2 version should be available no later than next weekend.
