The next update is imminent. Before that, I want to tidy up the old B41 Chelsea:

- More floors for certain buildings.
- I'll add some basements.
- I need to build 1 subway tunnel (no subway station).
- I need to build 2 railway tunnel as well as Penn Station.
- I need to build the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel.
- B42 currently includes some bugs, I'm trying to eliminate a few of them with workarounds.
- I'll add my new mailboxes and floor signs to the buildings.
- I'll check all elevators to make sure they work with the gunslinger's elevator mod.
- I'll add one or two animal zones.

Already done or activities of the last weeks:
- Created a Discord server, especially for people who want to support me with mapping.
- Onboarding of the first supporters.
- Created a Google MyMap for a better overview of progress with less effort.
- Researched a problem with the in-game maps - unfortunately not solvable since B42.11, so the in-game map will be incomplete in some places for now.
- Learned animal zones with try-and-error, wrote a tutorial for the community about this and implemented it in Central Park.
- Communication with various modders.
- Designed new tilesets (mailboxes, floor signs, subway doors, etc.).
- Added helicopter mod support.
- Built first buildings in the Upper East Side.

The Discord server is now online - please bear with me, I've set up my own Discord for the first time. On the Discord, you as a player are welcome to share screenshots of your gaming experiences in Manhattan, give me feedback, suggestions and report bugs.

If you'd like to support me with the mod, you can also contact me there and you'll be activated for the supporter channels. I'm still looking for modders to help me, for example, with creating the buildings – that's a real time-waster. Whether it's regular blocks or landmarks – write to me in Discord how you'd like to help. Skins, tilesets, or other things are also welcome.

I'll also be posting new screenshots there frequently and publishing the patch notes there – just like here on the workshop page – when there's an update.

I have a suggestion for a future area. If you are planning on adding the World Trade Center then a creative way of dodging the 30 layer max limit for height would be to just make it where the WTC was destroyed from the upper layers. like the army bombed it or something also you should make it where the area around there was an army quarentine zone
Blackshot  [author] 8 Sep @ 1:46am
What exactly do you mean? I'm constantly releasing new updates for B42, but you'll need to start a new game after an update to see changes to the map.

I've had to stop working on B41 because the two aren't compatible. So if you're playing B41, you'll only be able to play my mod in version 0.06. For B42, you can currently play 0.09. I'm currently working on 0.10.
Goose 7 Sep @ 3:01pm

Blackshot  [author] 7 Sep @ 3:03am
Next update 0.10: I've adjusted the zombie spawn rate slightly (turned it down). Balancing is a process, though, and I need your help! You can adjust the zombie spawn rate between low and insane via the sandbox settings—feel free to experiment. Of course, it also depends on your playstyle.

Jokes aside, I genuinely want to know what the offices in Fiduciary Trust Company International (floors 90, 94 to 97) looked like back in the day. I was browsing for images of the place, but I couldn't find any aside from a home video of the offices below it.

I am aware that the limitation is 32 stories high, but it would be interesting to observe the overall gist of the towers in this map from the mall, to the lobby, to the mechanical floors, to the offices, and the roofs.

@Blackshot A second Black Hawk has hit the landing pad.

Blackshot  [author] 4 Sep @ 1:02pm
@Warrior In Paradise: I'd love to see my map on YouTube, but it's not very far along yet. Currently, only Central Park and part of Chelsea are finished. There's still a lot to do, and some things are still unfinished ;) If you make videos, feel free to link them or send me a private message. I'm also happy to accept feedback or correct any errors you find.

@Sheen Boah: Definitely ;) But I'll get to the southern part of the map later. First, I'll build Upper East and then Upper West Manhattan. Then I'll slowly work my way south.
Warrior In Paradise 4 Sep @ 8:55am
can i use this mod in a video for youtube
Warrior In Paradise 4 Sep @ 8:33am
hell yeah this is going to be lit!

Ngl, the thought of having the Twin Towers in the map does offer possible and ideal challenges.
Blackshot  [author] 3 Sep @ 3:09am
@Vancouver:
According to the editor, the maximum number of floors a building can have in Zomboid is 32. This number also counts for basements. If the building has two basement levels, it can only be 30 stories high.

There are a few tricks to get around this, for example by placing a building on top of another building. I haven't checked myself whether there is a hard cap in the game. I currently set my buildings to a maximum of 30 stories above ground. The tallest building in vanilla has 27 floors and a roof as the 28th floor. You also have to keep in mind that every roof - even flat roofs - counts as a floor. If I add a helipad or tall antennas, I have to take that into account.

My Chelsea buildings are still designed for B41, with a maximum of 8 floors. I might rework them again. Unfortunately, Zomboid isn't actually designed for such a densely built, high-rise city, so I'll have to scale them down a bit.
Jews&♥♥♥♥ 1 Sep @ 2:03pm
is it possible to make more than 29 story buildings?
Captain_Goose200K 29 Aug @ 1:50pm
DONT FORGET THE WORLD TRADE CENTER
Blackshot  [author] 26 Aug @ 8:45am
Next Update (v0.10): I'm done adding farm animals to the Central Park Zoo. More farm animals will be added at various locations in Manhattan (backyards, labs, community gardens and rooftops). Wildlife is currently causing issues and there aren't really any good solutions in the modding community. I've also made some tweaks to the museum, including adding a forge to the medieval section.

Right now, I'm focused on building houses in the Upper East Side - the next spawn region.
Ace_Proto 25 Aug @ 10:20pm
excited to see the progress

In B42.11, there's a change that prevents me from continuing to support the IngameMap. From now on, the IngameMap will be partially or entirely missing until there's a solution from TIS or the modding community. This change is currently causing the mod to crash in B42.11.

I'll be uploading an update within the next hour to make the mod playable again.

@Hx: The profession was just for testing purposes, I'll be removing it with today's update. At some point, I might add my own custom professions, similar to how I'm planning to add newspapers and radio stations from Manhattan.
Hx 19 Aug @ 9:14pm
What's the purpose of the Admin profession?
Blackshot  [author] 15 Aug @ 2:00pm
The mod has been broken since version B42.11. I've corrected the bugs and will upload an update soon.
Blackshot  [author] 9 Aug @ 12:37pm
I haven't had much time lately, but I'll be working more on Manhattan in the next few weeks. Today I built the Lexington Ave / 59th St subway station and connected it to the subway network. I'm also thinking about which medium I can use to better show you screenshots. And I've come up with something to thank my donors – but that will come in a few updates later...

Please add ghostbusters HQ

We need the world trade centre, they are super iconic and would make a sick base. not sure how you'd do it in build 41 though
Banana Phone 10 Jul @ 3:42pm
@Blackshot no worries! I understand. Thank you again, excited to do a run on this map when I find the time.
Spaci 8 Jul @ 1:28am
so cool ty @blackshot for puting your time and effort into this :)
Blackshot  [author] 6 Jul @ 10:30am
@Huellas: I think you have convinced me and I will add the WTC, the Twin Towers, to my map.

@Banana Phone: Sorry, but at the moment there are no plans for an integrated map in vanilla Kentucky. In general it is no problem to add a map to the vanilla map, but I would have to make some adjustments (scripts, ...). My main goal remains a standalone map for now.

@Captain_Goose200K: It will still take a few months. Besides RL, I am currently encountering the following problems: The unofficial B42 map editor doesn't work with biomes the way I expect it to. An important vanilla biome has been disabled for reasons unknown to me, I'll have to consider creating a custom biome script for Manhattan. I've also been experiencing frequent crashes of the unofficial editors for a while now.
Captain_Goose200K 4 Jul @ 1:58pm
How long in till the map would be finished? @Blackshot
Banana Phone 2 Jul @ 6:16pm
Are there any plans to offer a version of this mod that adds this map into the main game? Preferably next to the existing map on the left side would be my preference as the top, right, and bottom are all taken by other large map mods I really enjoy. I understand this is absolutely not lore friendly or immersive to drop manhattan in the middle of KT, but I mean it would be really fun.. and I tend to think of the game as a fictional place anyway. I like to populate it with as many modded locations that are functional and unique as I can find. I know nothing about what it would take to do this so I have no expectations, just sharing my desire for it. Thank you for the awesome mod!

yooo i cannot wait for this to be done ive been waiting for a new york map for the longest take your time with this one LET HIM COOK

WTC should be both towers!

No 1993 Manhattan would be complete if the towers are absent.

Awesome project, will follow it to see how it goes.
Blackshot  [author] 20 Jun @ 1:51pm
@丰盛的基因科学家
I'm trying to create a mix of 1993, modern Manhattan, and my own version of Manhattan. It's extremely time-consuming to research the blueprints for every building and then find the ones from 1993. If I did that everywhere, I'd never finish. Also, sometimes there are gameplay reasons that require me to deviate—either because it's not possible or for balancing reasons. For example: There are no diagonal walls; even if I create my own, they wouldn't work well with the game's other features.

With the WTC, I'm not sure what to do yet. Should I build the two towers or the memorial and the OWTC?

I don't think I'd have time for a separate Discord. But I could create a separate post here for update news, which interested parties could subscribe to.
Blackshot  [author] 20 Jun @ 1:36pm
The next update won't bring any major map expansions, but rather some other content and bug fixes. Planned/partially complete:

1. Correct biome maps for Central Park
2. Bug fixes to vehicle spawn zones
3. New vanilla reskins for police pickups, prison buses, SWAT vehicles, park rangers/park police (3 vehicles), and taxis (currently 10 skins)
4. Mod vehicle support, mainly army vehicles
5. Perhaps some buildings along Central Park W
6. Some new tiles (floor numbering, billboards, etc.)
7. Better spawn points
8. Mod support for "elevators" in Chelsea
丰盛的基因科学家 18 Jun @ 1:48pm
You should make a discord or something to keep people updated on progress also. This is a really really cool project and its actually utilizing b42's new abilities and I really wish for the best with this
丰盛的基因科学家 18 Jun @ 1:47pm
I hope its like 1993 New York City and ends up having the world trade center along with all the other buildings in that time (to a reasonable extent)
Kuzol 15 Jun @ 3:20pm
That's awesome Blackshot! Good to hear about the update!
۵camXO۵ 14 Jun @ 11:18am
damn it, i thought this said Backshots Manhattan :steamsad:
Blood 14 Jun @ 8:56am
Definitely looks like it'll be a cool map once finished. Looking forward to it.
Blackshot  [author] 14 Jun @ 6:28am
The latest update is now live. Please let me know if you encounter any bugs! You can find a detailed list of the update and known bugs in the changelogs (top right). Please note that the last vanilla update (B42.9) introduced a few bugs.

The update includes the entire Central Park.
Blackshot  [author] 12 Jun @ 8:23pm
That's not planned at the moment. The mod not only includes the Manhattan map, but also changes various elements of the vanilla game—I'd have to invest some time in defining that, if that's even possible. Sorry
WOOTIKITIKI 12 Jun @ 3:41pm
Would you be willing to drop this on the vanilla map, maybe off to the east in all the empty new map area? Would be a cool city to just have loaded up when its done.
Blackshot  [author] 12 Jun @ 9:56am
Screenshot of Central Park Zoo and The Arsenal added. Working now on subway station 5 Av/59 St
Blackshot  [author] 12 Jun @ 6:03am
I had a little less time again, I'm at about 92% of Central Park. I'm currently working on Central Park Zoo, but have once again come up against some of the game's limits. I hope you will still like the zoo and maybe some of you will build your base there.
WOOTIKITIKI 10 Jun @ 2:02pm
This is a great idea for a map. Really looking forward to seeing it completed. Don't give up on it.
