- More floors for certain buildings.
- I'll add some basements.
- I need to build 1 subway tunnel (no subway station).
- I need to build 2 railway tunnel as well as Penn Station.
- I need to build the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel.
- B42 currently includes some bugs, I'm trying to eliminate a few of them with workarounds.
- I'll add my new mailboxes and floor signs to the buildings.
- I'll check all elevators to make sure they work with the gunslinger's elevator mod.
- I'll add one or two animal zones.
- Created a Discord server, especially for people who want to support me with mapping.
- Onboarding of the first supporters.
- Created a Google MyMap for a better overview of progress with less effort.
- Researched a problem with the in-game maps - unfortunately not solvable since B42.11, so the in-game map will be incomplete in some places for now.
- Learned animal zones with try-and-error, wrote a tutorial for the community about this and implemented it in Central Park.
- Communication with various modders.
- Designed new tilesets (mailboxes, floor signs, subway doors, etc.).
- Added helicopter mod support.
- Built first buildings in the Upper East Side.
The Discord server is now online - please bear with me, I've set up my own Discord for the first time. On the Discord, you as a player are welcome to share screenshots of your gaming experiences in Manhattan, give me feedback, suggestions and report bugs.
If you'd like to support me with the mod, you can also contact me there and you'll be activated for the supporter channels. I'm still looking for modders to help me, for example, with creating the buildings – that's a real time-waster. Whether it's regular blocks or landmarks – write to me in Discord how you'd like to help. Skins, tilesets, or other things are also welcome.
I'll also be posting new screenshots there frequently and publishing the patch notes there – just like here on the workshop page – when there's an update.
I've had to stop working on B41 because the two aren't compatible. So if you're playing B41, you'll only be able to play my mod in version 0.06. For B42, you can currently play 0.09. I'm currently working on 0.10.
IM LITERALLY BEGGIGN YOU THIS SEEMS SO FREAKING COOL I WANNA PLAY ALL OF MANHATTEN (which i know is a very hard thing to do cuz its a very big city) BUT PLEASE BRO PLLEEEAAASE
I am aware that the limitation is 32 stories high, but it would be interesting to observe the overall gist of the towers in this map from the mall, to the lobby, to the mechanical floors, to the offices, and the roofs.
@Sheen Boah: Definitely ;) But I'll get to the southern part of the map later. First, I'll build Upper East and then Upper West Manhattan. Then I'll slowly work my way south.
According to the editor, the maximum number of floors a building can have in Zomboid is 32. This number also counts for basements. If the building has two basement levels, it can only be 30 stories high.
There are a few tricks to get around this, for example by placing a building on top of another building. I haven't checked myself whether there is a hard cap in the game. I currently set my buildings to a maximum of 30 stories above ground. The tallest building in vanilla has 27 floors and a roof as the 28th floor. You also have to keep in mind that every roof - even flat roofs - counts as a floor. If I add a helipad or tall antennas, I have to take that into account.
My Chelsea buildings are still designed for B41, with a maximum of 8 floors. I might rework them again. Unfortunately, Zomboid isn't actually designed for such a densely built, high-rise city, so I'll have to scale them down a bit.
Right now, I'm focused on building houses in the Upper East Side - the next spawn region.
I'll be uploading an update within the next hour to make the mod playable again.
@Hx: The profession was just for testing purposes, I'll be removing it with today's update. At some point, I might add my own custom professions, similar to how I'm planning to add newspapers and radio stations from Manhattan.
@Banana Phone: Sorry, but at the moment there are no plans for an integrated map in vanilla Kentucky. In general it is no problem to add a map to the vanilla map, but I would have to make some adjustments (scripts, ...). My main goal remains a standalone map for now.
@Captain_Goose200K: It will still take a few months. Besides RL, I am currently encountering the following problems: The unofficial B42 map editor doesn't work with biomes the way I expect it to. An important vanilla biome has been disabled for reasons unknown to me, I'll have to consider creating a custom biome script for Manhattan. I've also been experiencing frequent crashes of the unofficial editors for a while now.
No 1993 Manhattan would be complete if the towers are absent.
Awesome project, will follow it to see how it goes.
I'm trying to create a mix of 1993, modern Manhattan, and my own version of Manhattan. It's extremely time-consuming to research the blueprints for every building and then find the ones from 1993. If I did that everywhere, I'd never finish. Also, sometimes there are gameplay reasons that require me to deviate—either because it's not possible or for balancing reasons. For example: There are no diagonal walls; even if I create my own, they wouldn't work well with the game's other features.
With the WTC, I'm not sure what to do yet. Should I build the two towers or the memorial and the OWTC?
I don't think I'd have time for a separate Discord. But I could create a separate post here for update news, which interested parties could subscribe to.
