loads in 1.6 but i can only build the buildings, craft all the stuiff and send satellites. but i cannot interact otherwise at all.

Could you make it possible to actually have to build the satellites as buildings before launching them ? That was a really cool part of the old mod

Yeah, it would be interesting to attempt it. Having one station you build up and inhabit once you get the infrastructure (Rimnauts), and a bunch of automated lesser stations/satellites where your people can use to help deal with potential issues or to just get handy resources (Cosmos+). And of course Save Our Ship 2 so you can have a means to traverse all over the stars when you feel like it.

It should, space in this mod is abstracted and doesn't really react or interact with anything else. It's an interesting thought to try and somehow integrate them.

Hmm, does this work with Rimnauts 2? I know you are mostly just updating it to 1.5, but it is good to know regardless.
