adding a blink mechanic would be class where you have a timer before your character blinks, reducing vision for a split second to 0. awesome mod:spiffo:

@crayven_ady it somewhat does but can be janky at times, Retanaru did a stream playing it in multiplayer [www.twitch.tv]

@ChamaNaHannah I'm yet to find time to look into it, but yes, as I said before I will be looking into adding this feature, it is doable, but the key is to make it work without tanking performance too much

if I could get this effect to work but freezes zombies when they're in light and unfreezes them in the dark that would be awesome

@eliaicy they are compatible, but I understood what you meant. This two mods operate differently, unlike Random Zombies this mod doesn't change zombie types and just freezes zombie objects in general. I might be able to implement a setting which will freeze only certain zombie types, for instance only sprinters or slow shamblers (and then turn them into runners when attacked etc as it does now for all zombies). I will look into it once I have time, thank you for the input

@Anothername the distance at which zombies unfreeze is already randomized, it also differs indoors and outdoors. Adding extra timers would mean tracking more data which will negatively affect performance. I was thinking about the option to adjust the max range at which zombies unfreeze but it is directly tied with chance, the setting is pretty sensitive and I decided to not include it. About recommended sandbox options, there is also Zombie Distribution: Uniform which drastically changes the flow of the game. I will think about adding max range option if there's more requests

I have a suggestion for a sandbox option; if you keep staring at a frozen zomboid from a short distance for there to be a small chance every few seconds for it to break out of freezing to run right at you. Maybe also to make it possible for the chance to increase the longer you have them in your sight without looking away

I'd have to pick apart the code to see how they worked the immortality on the Nemesis without stealing code as I am not sure the mod author is active these days (I could be wrong). Maybe I could apply that to the frozen state of the zombies so they don't die, but like you said..

Once attacked or you are near them they active and chase you down, so make their toughness stronger and it probably wouldn't matter anyway.

@Con(troll) Artist in theory it should work with other zombie mods, so what you want might be achievable. I'd be curious to know how it went if you'd decide to try out

I forget what mod it is, but there is one that adds in banshee screamers and an immortal "nemesis" zombie. Of course there are options to disable him being immortal, he still takes hits.

Like I said, it would be nice to have them immortal when frozen, but c'est la vie. I wouldn't call the lack of a dealbreaker. Still a good job nonetheless.

@Con(troll) Artist The "cheese" you described won't take you far unless you play with abundance of ammo or small pop or lack of pinpoint. Even if they would be immortal while frozen this would mean you would just come close enough to unfreeze them and still shoot with your infinite ammo. Apart from that making them immortal while frozen would mean they won't unfreeze when attacked which is a core mechanic and adds funnies, especially with fire present

@Anothername yes, the will become runners but won't activate until attacked as before

If the "Turn sprinter spotted" effect is enabled, will they Unfreeze once both the player and the zombie notice each other, or will it simply make them sprint after you once you look away?

Shame they are not immortal when in their frozen state. Keep them from being frozen and cheesed from range.

Thanks for the response. I misunderstood - I didn't realise, regardless of the two tick boxes, that zombies would become sprinters when attacked. I've removed my earlier comments to avoid confusiosn.

@The Magnitogorsk I wasn't able to reproduce your experience. Zombies start to run upon receiving any damage, this includes player shove, falling from second floor and there is also a very rare vanilla bug where zombies can get damaged by any car/wreck when they pass by it. Just in case shoulder bumping into a zombie doesn't do any damage to zombies

@The Magnitogorsk @the opossum agenda zombies becoming sprinters after being attacked is one of the key features of this mod which is there to keep such experience challenging, it requires the player to think multiple steps ahead, it also turns the fire into a real hazard, without it fire is just a convenient way to get rid of a horde. Also, this sprinters are not as dangerous as regular ones because they don't slow down the player. This mod provides a good playground to learn sprinters, keep trying and you'll make it! I can recommend reducing the pop and/or changing the zombie infection transmission to saliva only, it makes mistakes in combat against sprinters much more forgiving and further improves the learning experience

super duper cool. had fun playing with it. would you add the option to disable sprinting when attacked? it gets hard to react in time with other factors, i keep getting bit with just one zombie present.
