Here is an easier way to do the file stuff to fix it if you dont wanna go download the gcfscape:

It does require some basic File Explorer knowledge but its simple enough

Go to the :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\220\3366507927 like it says in the description

Copy the files from that folder

Go to :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life_2\hl2_complete\media from the description as well

Delete the files there (startup vids) (valve) and paste the copied files from earlier

It should work, if it doesnt, delete the media file from :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life_2\hl2\media (it doesnt have hl2_complete) and paste the copied files there too

If it doesnt work then idk suck it up buttercup it worked for me

the workshop is the best thing to happen to half life 2

ayy i got a ar3 in my APC

There is no valve media in the 3366507927 folder

put it in hl2 complete media and doesnt work, i renamed it and made it the correct file type and now i diont even get the hl2 loadup it just put me straight into the main menu, it shouldnt be this hard for workshop item otherwise i wouldve just done it manually

then media and paste valve.bik

Yes, it's weird. The mod doesn't work in VPK format, only if you unpack it and throw it into a custom folder or replace it directly.

Its so much easier using the gamebanana zip, just replace the valve.bik in the original half life 2 media folder with the valve.bik from the mod.

Instalation is kinda wacky beacuse you need to do it yourself, but its just extract and replace, follow the Instalation instructions and you should have it working!

If it don't work for you, just download it from gamebanana and unzip it into the media folder

although you can replace cs2's intro with this, converting it to webm compresses it a ton and its audio doesn't play during the intro (I tried it), so its incredibly scuffed

@High voltage, you could probably also replace the intro in cs2, here's how you would do it:
The intro video files are located here: :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\panorama\videos
The specific intro files are called "intro" and "intro720p". If you wanted to replace these files with the intro from this mod, you would have to download the mod's zip from gamebanana, extract the zip, convert the bik file in it to webm (the format of the cs2 intro files), dulpicate the converted file, and rename one to "intro" and the other to "intro720p". After this, you would need to go into the csgo videos folder, and delete or archive the original intro video files (intro.webm and intro720p.webm), and paste the new ones in.

if you dont want to have to use gcfscape, then you can make it work by downloading the mod's zip file from the gamebanana link, extracting it to a folder, open the media folder, which is in the hl2 folder, and delete the original valve.bik file inside of it(or archive it in a folder somewhere), then copy/cut the valve.bik file from the folder you extracted the zip into, and paste it into the media folder.
this is a simpler method than extracting the mod's file using gcfscape, i did this and it works perfectly, idk why the poster didn't mention this.
