I plan on releasing some sort of API guide so that other mods can change the original pools at some point. That's the best the system can offer.
The extractor looks for 1000 units of water in the ocean area. Try moving it closer to the shore

The underground tainted biomes are registered only at cavern layer
I have no idea what possessed me to do that but you should be able to just move your setup further down to make it register. I'll fix this in the next update
Any content pre-moon lord would all just be database work

The whole premise of this mod is to extract common materials related to the biome the machine is placed in. This includes common enemy drops. You can see exactly what can be obtained and where by checking out the wiki's Loot Tables page.
