Just search the name of the mod in your computer and open it with winrar. Then extract everything to your mod folder in:
C:/Users/yourusername/My documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings 2/mod
Freaking steam (or Paradox) still hasn't fixed this problem after so many years...
Now that this mod save compatable, a new folder is made when you use this mod that doesnt have this mod name in the folder name. All previous saves using this mod did, but now when you run this mod, it wont look for the old saves in the old folder, its looking for saves in the newly created folder, of where there are non. These saves for modded games are in users/my documents/paradox interactive/ck2 and will have names listing all save dependent mods associated with those games. To recover you game saves, copy or move the saved games you want into the newly created folder.
Hope this helps, if anyone needs more help with it feel free to send me a message.
If not, you could also open the .mod file in the mod directory and add the line
user_dir="remove_cry"
Other than that, I don't know if it's possible unless you have older saves.
This is the best mod for this game.
There are a lot of great mods that do great and wonderful things, but this?
This is essential.
