Happy Birthday!
Kaito 23 Oct, 2024 @ 1:24pm
Would you look at that, you even published it on my birthday. Thanks lol!

As a fellow no-jetpack enjoyer, this is by far the best rendition of a "small grid jetpack ship" I've ever seen. So much better than any I've built myself. This is a work of art, and about to become an absolute staple in my survival games.

Absolutely gorgeous work :)

Love to see something so lovingly made to do a specific job and do it so well. Best ship I've downloaded in ages.

@Orselias I wasn't even having a bad day but your comment made it better, ty.
Orselias 9 Oct, 2024 @ 11:10am
This thing has become my favorite ship! Very well done!

@KahvozeinsFang It can be especially useful when playing with jet packs turned off. In an effort to keep the Stratus as light as possible it has limited cargo space. Since I do the bulk of the welding with welding ships it wasn't a priority.

I like trying to play with 1x settings for everything so even your suit is very limited and am always thinking of ways to let my ships run longer while making fewer trips. The external battery idea came about as a result so I can have 1 large battery in the ship and a "battery pack" that can connect using a merge block to either the bottom or rear of my ship. This lets the battery pack recharge at the base (or just a power depot) while i use another pack. The on-board battery lets the ship fly long enough to swap packs and act as a backup. (1 small reactor added later in game for emergencies.) In the case of this ship I would swap the forward battery for an o2 tank, move rear thrusters to sides (4 instead of 3), add 1 merg block to rear, (drone can dock to bottom connector)

drone design in similar style to this ship
2-3 medium cargo (each has 3 large ports in "T" formation)
1 battery on-board (use same pack system)

@KahvozeinsFang, You make an excellent point if the only purpose of this ship was for placing blocks and you always play solo. That was a good question, thank you
Osker  [author] 28 Sep, 2024 @ 4:27am
@jarhead, I like that, it does have an extra vent. I wasn't thinking far enough outside the box.
KahvozeinsFang 27 Sep, 2024 @ 11:43pm
Serious question. Why would I need to build this instead of a welding ship. Placing blocks? I can build from any cockpit. And then weld immediately.
jarhead 27 Sep, 2024 @ 9:25pm
for the drone idea i was thinking it would use a merge block so you can remote load it while your charging at "base/location a" then "dock" it to this ship before leaving for another location using both ship and drone tthrusters to help with load (and both vehicles power would be shared as well) then once on site you can hover in position and ""undock" the drone before leaving the cockpit and this will allow you to build, mine, or remove blocks and use the drone for cargo while using this ships cockpit to recharge / refill (o2) your suit.

so only alterations for this ship would be 1 vent (pulling in air) 1 o2 tank (air storage) and 1 merge block (on top with possible extra on rear for auxiliary battery pack)

I didn't sense any negativity in your first comment, and ty!
Salad_Mask 27 Sep, 2024 @ 10:17am
@Osker, its cool, i dont mean to say its bad, I love it.
Osker  [author] 26 Sep, 2024 @ 10:04pm
For me my welding ship does the heavy lifting as far as building things. I use the platform for placing blocks. I like the drone idea, but it would have to dock with a static grid to avoid frustration and/or failure, this ship won't be static. You could remote a supply drone to you?
jarhead 26 Sep, 2024 @ 9:27pm
love the idea behind this it's brilliant ... now we just need a small cargo drone that can "dock" to the roof of this so we don't have to make 50 trips to build 1 large item
Osker  [author] 26 Sep, 2024 @ 12:07pm
@Stratus, Thanks buddy
@Salad_Mask, That wasn't intentional but I can see it.
Salad_Mask 26 Sep, 2024 @ 8:20am
I like how it looks so simular to the EVE Online mining ship)

@ RaptorMK-2 I like the extra challenge of no jet packs and thank you, glad you like it.
@ Jon01 I'm looking forward to seeing all the creative ways people are going to come up with for dealing with Prototech
Jon01 23 Sep, 2024 @ 4:21am
this might become a great addition to servers or private games trying to salvage the upcoming Prototech blocks
RaptorMk-2 23 Sep, 2024 @ 12:03am
Literally started no-jetpack modes last month and was looking for a ship this handsome to help! Wonderful greebling on such a tidy little craft!
