@S
you are right to say that snow can be death. it is a stark and silent hunter, its cold an unforgiving blade that seeps into the bones. it is the chilling white shroud that can blanket the world, muffling life itself into a desperate, frozen stillness. from the warmth of a window, we can call it beautiful, but to be lost in its embrace is to only know a profound and terrifying loneliness

… can something so deadly not also be breathtaking?

consider the gentle hush that falls with the first few flakes, a sacred silence that stills the frantic pulse of any world. each snowflake, a fleeting masterpiece, lands with gentle finality, a dream, a fragile pearl destined to be lost. they are fluttering dreams of purity, whispering down to offer the world a momentary absolution.
✞ Star∞ 13 Jul @ 12:05pm
snow is the canvas for our own existence. its pure white our reflection, the pristine page where our fleeting moments are etched, a mirror of memory woven into its fleeting white. it drinks the mournful blue of twilight and glows with the fire of dawn, casting its radiance across our gaze

a fleeting moment, a momentary snowflake.

It is the pristine page upon which our memories are written, the solitary walk under a sky of bruised violet, the window pane where a name was once traced in the frost.

It buries the world we know, not to freeze us, to instead blanket us, to allow us to see it anew. It endures the filth and the mud, and in its melting, it does not die, but transforms, feeding the very earth it once concealed.

it is a solemn remorse, a constant reminder of something forever vivid,
✞ Star∞ 13 Jul @ 12:04pm
… and yet.

some will recoil from it, mistaking its chill for cruelty, yet in shunning snow’s embrace, we turn from our own reflection

the snow is harsh, absolutely yes. It is a desolate, definite and chilling force that isolates and surrounds you.
but, it is also the testament to a fragile beauty that exists in the very heart of such desolation.

within its frozen heart lies a fragile, fleeting beauty, a solemn hymn sung in whispers of white
it is the sharp, cold gasp before the morning rise, the mirror of all that it blankets. snow is not merely death.

one day, your own scarlet pulse will rest beneath soil cradled by snow’s fleeting dream,
so gently covered by a dream that reflects your eternity, icy rivers and cold breath, frozen bodies and forgotten losses, snow is not merely loss; even in its bitter frost, there blooms a quiet. your own, reflected, forever alive in its pale embrace.

snow is beautiful.

1.6?????????????????

1.6 ?
S 8 Jul @ 7:08am
Snow is harsh. Snow is cold. Snow is death.

Only in a beautiful shelter is the snow, "Beautiful"

Forced to live in harsh climates like the north and south poles? "Hate it."

Forced tribal living in cold weathers? Hate snow.

1.6 Update soon?
Atticus 25 Dec, 2024 @ 10:02am
I don't like snow. It's cold and wet, and it gets everywhere.
Fuffydud 20 Dec, 2024 @ 7:28am
I agree with @总计23662.22元, could it just be neutral instead of debuffed in arctic biomes?
总计23662.22元 12 Oct, 2024 @ 12:39pm
Can I remove this mod in save?
To be honest, I just want the snow to be considered beautiful, not to give pawn a permanent -5 mood on the scary, desperate Arctic sea ice cap sheet or permafrost.
Scone  [author] 26 Sep, 2024 @ 9:16am
Also; for all the people asking about traits. I might look into this, but beauty in general isn't linked to pawn perception. I will however look into adjusting the snow moods to fit this idea c:
Scone  [author] 26 Sep, 2024 @ 9:12am
@NuanKi Thank you! I'll be sure to use this in future c:

@Scone use [1.3 - 1.5] PublisherPlus FORK
You can select what folder you want or not to be uploaded to the workshop without deleting it or moving it

@Protok, then make the mod, fella
Protok 25 Sep, 2024 @ 3:04am
Idea is good, but I will prefer traits and Ideo precepts for this mechanic. To be able decide which pawns will be affected by it.
Ueido 24 Sep, 2024 @ 3:25pm
Suggestion... Give it a minimum across the board. Make trait for Snow lovers an Snow haters. Snow lovers hold it in higher regard while Snow haters fear it cause it means the "COLD" is here.
Also yeah... Ideology precept memes would be cool too.
dr.kristian.west 24 Sep, 2024 @ 2:18pm
I like this.

Just a question/idea: Could this behavior be tied to an Ideology precept?
High Rads | Nuka Cola 24 Sep, 2024 @ 1:31pm
You shouldn't really have any excess stuff in the mod itself. If you want to share your source code, better place for it would be GitHub/GitLab :)
Scone  [author] 24 Sep, 2024 @ 11:56am
Also; there are now mood buffs/debuffs for when it snows!
Scone  [author] 24 Sep, 2024 @ 11:55am
@shawn Huh, yeah just noticed that myself. It seems that the source code has been included in the mod upload (thanks game mod uploader). So I suppose the source code is included; not necessarily a bad thing since it's good for people wanting to learn how to mod, but maybe not ideal?

I suppose you guys can let me know if you'd want it there or not. It does make up 99% of the mod size.
shawn 24 Sep, 2024 @ 11:46am
Just noticed the mod size of nearly 43mb. That seems large as far as mods go for this game. Does it include art/animations or sound of some kind? Thanks!
shawn 24 Sep, 2024 @ 11:34am
I saw a bunch of comments downing ProfZelonka so of course I had to scroll to see what was so offensive. Have to say I was disappointed lol. I was expecting to find a greasy troll and instead found Bob from down the street. There must be a snow lover's nerve out there I didn't know existed. Our beloved pawns already have shifting expectations so if one wanted to, beauty could indeed be subjective as a basic framework is present. I dare say if he ever managed to catch that wild hare he might just be motivated enough to mod that mod!

Would love if you include in the description the mod's FPS impact/optimization
自Smeengie由 22 Sep, 2024 @ 7:52pm
@ProfZelonka It's a rimworld mod. You're thinking way too hard about this.
AVE 22 Sep, 2024 @ 3:44pm
@ProfZelonka As someone who's lived in a place with lots of greenery his whole life, I can tell you that some things are eternally beautiful and never lose that beauty. Just because you've grown accustomed to something does not mean it has to lose it's beauty.
Soterasiel 22 Sep, 2024 @ 2:02pm
@ProfZelonka Thankfully the mods ability to be downloaded is also subjective; you don't have to if you don't think snow is beautiful.
Tiffy 21 Sep, 2024 @ 11:52am
@ProfZelonka If thats the case, seeing the same flowers or statue every single day would make people not think theyre that beautiful, so I think this mod makes sense...
ProfZelonka 20 Sep, 2024 @ 4:48pm
Cool mod but beauty is subjective - not beautiful for someone in the north pole who has to see it every day and walk slow to hunt a hare across the map. Would make more sense to only have it be beautiful for x amount of days before it becomes not so beautiful lol
Scone  [author] 19 Sep, 2024 @ 7:25pm
Currently working on this c:
WaffleKing 19 Sep, 2024 @ 7:15pm
I like this, but I think it would be an improvement if it only applied to maps that don't have snow for the majority of the year. Wouldn't make sense for your pawns to see snow as extra beautiful when they see it every day, or at least the majority of the time. That may be very hard to implement though.
Kokorocodon 19 Sep, 2024 @ 6:39pm
do look pretty tho

Scone  [author] 19 Sep, 2024 @ 12:37am
Currently working on exactly that idea, but actually in the form of mood buffs! It's not really possible to do it otherwise; but I think it will work well!
Pong 18 Sep, 2024 @ 10:55pm
Could the novelty of snow affect apparent beauty? I'm thinking latitude. And yes I'm Canadian.
