@muraviev2: You need to click "Modding Tool" in the launcher of Xenonauts and there look for "Lore+" There you need to "install" and then also toggle to "Yes" after installation.

It's been quite a while since I last updated this, but it is compatible with CE. The mod is a fluff/lore only mod, so it doesn't affect ground combat or the geoscape. It is compatible with games in progress, but not everything might get unlocked.

An UPDATE!!!!! Okay guys, for those keen to analyse Androns, I've included an Andron Analysis page. To get it, shoot an Andron Officer. Trust me, it'll get sent back to the research lab, not end up in the scrap heap. I've cleaned up some of the text and made some small changes, nothign to get really excited about.

This is one of the best mods I've ever encountered for any game, and I've ben playing games with mods since Wolfenstein 3D. The writing is in exactly the write tone, the artwork is professional grade and appropriate, the disclosure of less obvious gameplay information (while sometimes giving just a little too much away) is welcome and helpful. Best of all, it does what any good mod should do: provide more of what the player wants and entice them to spend more time with the game. I've been playing XCOM (and its clones and wannabes) for over 20 years and in all that time the strongest hook that these games has held for me was the sense of discovery, the escalation of not just weapons but intelligence. Xenounauts in its vanilla, unmodded state came close to that perfect balance of discovery, combat, and management but I wanted more research, more information; with this mod I feel like finally an XCOM-styled game has fulfilled the potential of the original's promise.

I'm tempted to mod the Heavy Drone after I get this next Lore+ update done, that's supposed to have a freakin' stripped down CORVETTE CANNON strapped to it. Maybe make it hella aggressive and a gun as dangerous as a MAG.

@McSkumm, does absolutely nothing work at all after doing even one mission? You should get something for doing a mission. You usually get Lore+ research after 1 day or so.

@theclucker. That's just bad AI for the heavy drone. It's suppose to fire a load of plasma cannon shots.

I'm working with Henry (the artist) on a final image. I'll do another update when the final image is ready, as the update will follow shortly after that.

Yes it can. It isn't dependant on the standard tech tree - it's dependant on things you can get from ufos. Depending on where you are in-game, you may not get all of the mod (there's one item which I think is dependant on a certain ufo), and some of it will appear a little out of order as the mod is designed with ufo progression.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to a personal crisis, it is currently unlikely that there will be an update in April. It depends on if and how I can resolve this crisis.

Added a new Xenopdia page. To get this one, recover a Carrier or Battleship datacore. Also updated the pics to show off the most recent version of Lore+. Next update will be the Andron Analysis.

I've wanted to an Andron Analysis, like the other analysis types you get when you capture a live alien. I know you can't stun Androns. I would probably unlock the research with an Andron officer corpse (the backstory would be the officer is so well made that it's only knocked out, not destroyed) and the art would be have to reflect the interrogation of a robot, but that's not what worries me. What worries me if if I was going to do it properly, there would have to be the same 10% bonus to damage you get with every alien Analysis, and that takes Lore+ out of being just flavour text. Would anyone have a problem with that?

@agris, I've taken your suggestion and when I next update Lore+ I will include all the information you've requested.
