Fun time! Final mission made me smile. "Hello dearest, would you please revive my nemesis so I can chuck him out the window? I love you"

Lovely balancing and theme, makes you think how to tackle it, very good level :steamhappy:

I tried this one out because the description was funny, but it's actually really well-designed. The first level in particular is extremely hard if not impossible if you take the wrong approach to it, but pretty easy once you figure out the right approach.

shit it was very hard, but not impossible. kudos!

Cute and decent.

Played this for the description and was not disappointed. The first two were nicely challenging, the last made me cackle.

A fun little jaunt. Could have done with some confidence goals for the first two levels, strong finish, and a ship of queenly taste.

Was pretty fun. I found the difficulty just about right playing on hard mode, didn't do any of the turn one win strategies that were mentioned in the rest of the thread, managed to get through it on turn 11 after a bit of statergizing (and letting the turrets do a lot of the dirty work). The second level was also fairly simple, I think I let the militia allies get 5 or 6 kills on their own. And the last level was just great all around, no notes.

Nice level. On normal difficulty, I feel like first level is much harder than the second level. I only able to beat it after abusing transference on highly sedated enemy with another dangerous enemy. This is the first time I tried this method, so yeah it's a nice challenge.

Had to try this one because the title and description made me laugh.

Fun concepts. First level can be beaten with broom breach and a movement reset before Banks even appears. Second stage provided a nice challenge.

Like some other people, I played this mission on hard, and really loved it! the cohesive themeing really elevates it, and the idea is really solid! Jen and Bank's mechanical interactions are some of the most interesting in the game imo, and it leads to plenty of head-canon.
I'm realizing I need to go back, because window breach lets you beat the level before Banks even enters, so I didnt really give it a fair shake. The second is challenging, and pits Banks and Jen against a challenge that they are mechanically poorly equipped to deal with. It was a good interplay of removing targets and defending a position, and the militia members are always welcome, since I always try and save as many of the little guys as I can.
anyways, sorry I'm rambling. Great map!!

To clarify: keeping the doors closed traps all the enemies that spawn in the first two rooms in those rooms. So, once you're out of those rooms, the 10 enemies on the screen can't really touch you. The exterior area doesn't seem to start spawning enemies quite so soon, either because the area isn't connected to the rooms where wizards are, or because they simply don't spawn anything until turn 4.

I found the first level really difficult on hard. Ultimately decided the best course of action was to ignore the doors and rush the objective. You can get both Banks and Jen into the outer rim by turn 3, at which point nothing has spawned yet. The strategy depended a bit on RNG, but it worked out...

Love the level, love the ship, love that I got to shove Steve Clark out a window once again

Thank you for making this happen before you could even manually place Banks in the editor.

I finished it on hard difficulty. First level was actually pretty easy.

All you need to do is seal one door with Jen, Broom Breach to room where Banks shows up, together clear and seal that room, saving transference and hopefully 1 doors. After that, you can spend 25 turns clearing other room at the distance, throwing splash poison beakers through windows and occasionally letting Jen throw some unsteady 3 enemy out the window. Try to focus on throwing medics out the window, otherwise you will have to time killing all 3 of them close enough to stay down. Still, no rush.

Second gave me a lot more trouble. Constant onslaught meant in the end I only won by resurrecting shotgunner, hiding and throwing beakers at incoming chasers from very far away. Jen went down bravely defenestrating 3 or 4 of the bastards and last living medic.

I guess if I thought to rez enemy earlier, it might have been easier.

Third level was funny.

That makes a lot of sense, since I playtested it only on the standard difficulty. And I've only played the story levels on normal.

Would adding more mana pickups be enough to fix it, do you think?
SingularByte 26 Aug, 2024 @ 9:22am
Balance-wise, on harder difficulties it feels like there's too many reinforcements and too little mana.

Using zone one as an example: On easier difficulties with free mana, you can rush to the end of the first zone without difficulty. You blast the first enemies with lightning bolt, seal the door, wait for Banks to let you into the turret consoles room to turn them against their owners, then have Jen practically sprint to the left and Banks use the death’s door teleport far to the upper right. You skip basically the whole thing.

On harder difficulties, no such luck. Without free mana, you have to fight through it the slow way without teleporting. Sure, there’s 2 mana in the turret console room but literally 20 enemies will have spawned by the time Banks gets there, minimum. You need to slog through it the hard way, 3-4 enemies a turn with characters that on a good day can kill *1* enemy each, and they need to do it while miles apart from each other.

The only thing I loved more than the level design was the lack of subtext.

Very enjoyable level.
