Chain Tool

Weird, I had mod updater and it didn't signalled that it would be out of date. Probably some desyncing issue with the steam cloud, I have the habit of quickly reopening the game after closing it.

Update the mod to the latest version (1.1.9.0). For that, simply install Mod Updater .

This is a great mod!
I used it with great success, and then suddenly I got a crash. I don't know what caused it. I played, then left the game on pause for a hour and went afk, got back, did some miscellaneous tasks, set a yellow alert relocate here with the Mass Move Tool mod, added one more mealwood to the relocate here command, and it crashed. ONI marked with red only this mod. I wasn't actively using the chain tool function when crashed, albeit it is possible somewhere on the map there were chained tasks lined up previously.

I love this tool so much!
Not only for the use you demonstrated, but I build with the natural tile mod a lot and those can't be built diagonally. Makes it so much more fun letting the dupes build naturalistic caves without micromanaging them! :D

@Zarquan you gave me an idea for a new mod that I just released: Errand Notifier . Check it out, I think you will like it;)

By the way, I have a use case you might want to add to your showcase. I have a setup where I have a chain of tasks to be done, where the last task in the chain is an automation wire that lets me activate a notifier that lets me know which task is done. I have the message me "Shift-2 task is done!", at which point I know that the camera position 2 is done and I can press Shift-2 to see it. Then, I destroy the wire and am ready to reuse it. I've also used it to activate hardware automatically at certain build times.

This use case actually solves one of my biggest problems with ONI: Not knowing that a task is done and letting it sit forever.

To clarify, if you have Chain Tool enabled, you can get a crash attributed to Chain Tool by following these steps: Build a tile out of any material. Use Debug to paint a vacuum on the tile. While paused (i.e. there is still a vacuum on the tile) enable Instant Build (ctrl+F4) or sandbox. Then, deconstruct the tile. If Chain Tool is enabled, ONI will crash and label Chain Tool in red, but if Chain Tool is disabled, then it still crashes (something I thought I tested for, but maybe I let gas in the tile).
Zarquan 1 Apr @ 2:16pm
Correction, I don't think this is a bug in Chain Tool, even though the game attributes it to the Chain Tool. Odd, I thought ONI was pretty good at determining where a bug came from mod-wise.
Glampi  [author] 16 Mar @ 9:31am
@Zarquan I don't know how to reproduce the bug (painting vacuum over a tile doesn't do anything for me). Could you send the Player.log file of the crash in GitHub [github.com]?
Zarquan 14 Mar @ 11:30am
I think there might be a bug with chain tool, where if you deconstruct any tile whose mass has been destroyed, the game crashes and blames chain tool. To reproduce, create a tile, use debug to paint a vacuum, then try to deconstruct the tile. (I did mine with an insulated tile, but I doubt it matters.)

These tiles can appear in normal game play is material phase changes off of a conveyor rail when it is embedded tiles.

Yes, it should cause no issues when used together with Rational Priority.
The box indicates that the tool is active, so that you don't forget to turn it off.
Pholith 23 Jan @ 12:10pm
Is the mod compatible with Rational Priority ?
Pholith 21 Jan @ 12:20pm
Hello, it would be nice to hide the top left box with an option :)
Oniwabanshu 2 Jan @ 9:34am
Would it be possible for you to make it so dupes don't push themselves off when building tiles? they do that a lot and they just stand there for a couple seconds waiting to finish the task.

You're awesome. Most of us don't expect or demand updates. So just saying appreciate what you do.

v1.1.4.1 works for the newest update. If you still have problems, please update the mod with the Mod Updater .

No worries, I will fix all my mods in a couple of days.

Seabatt 23 Nov, 2024 @ 12:55am
yep confirm it is crashing
StarGeek 22 Nov, 2024 @ 7:56am
This is crashing the game for me after the latest update. It doesn't seem to be an interaction with other mods, as I disabled all mods except this one and still got a crash.

This is the best tool to vacuum a room.
Glampi  [author] 4 Nov, 2024 @ 2:44pm
@Timotheeee1 I don't really understand what you mean. It is possible to chain up any existing errands (if they are supported for chaining up). If you mean chaining up an errand that will be created in the future, I am afraid it is impossible to implement. If you mean constructing a building on top of "air" - this mod wasn't intended for this.
Glampi  [author] 4 Nov, 2024 @ 2:40pm
@Zarquan thank you for the bug report! It was fixed in v1.1.3.0.
Timotheeee1 4 Nov, 2024 @ 12:51pm
can you add a feature where it's possible to queue a building to be constructed on top of a building that is queued to be deconstructed?
Kumo 30 Oct, 2024 @ 10:25pm
I am getting the same bug as Zaquan
Zarquan 29 Oct, 2024 @ 9:24pm
I think I found a bug I can reproduce in the chain tool. As far as I can tell, if you are using the auto chain and you order a dig then a build on that dig, it makes the build and dig 2nd in the chain with no first. If you then delete the chain, it crashes the game.
Glampi  [author] 22 Oct, 2024 @ 11:31am
Also, it would be helpful if you would send the actual error message.
Glampi  [author] 22 Oct, 2024 @ 11:30am
I couldn't recreate the error. Could you please give more detail on your case: Which operating system do you use? Which mod versions do you have installed? Does the error always happen or only in specific cases? If so, please provide the exact steps to reproduce the error.
历经磨难的Z先生 21 Oct, 2024 @ 12:41am
This mod conflicts with "suppress notification". I encounter an error when clicking the button in the upper left corner of this mod, but it seems to work normally when using the button in the lower right corner. I sincerely hope the esteemed author can fix this conflict.

:0 NIOCE!!!!
Zarquan 11 Oct, 2024 @ 5:07pm
This is an amazing mod. Thank you so much for making it. I had an idea of something that could help make it even more useful. If we could set up a notification to go off when a chain is done, that would be highly convenient.
MBAGER 6 Oct, 2024 @ 6:52am
Game changer of a mod. Absolutely recommend this one for anyone who's tired of dupes getting stuck mid construction or deconstruction
Corrancarpenter 29 Sep, 2024 @ 8:33am
Thanks you SIR !
One of those small things about which you often tell yourself "WTH ain't this feature in the vanilla version ?!?"
