Happy swimming!
I wanna eat aquapedes man
very much so
@Wipple show me a place bubble weed is seen underwater without being held by a slugcat
also @ those of you with a problem w the name: ill tell you what if you can get an official statement from the developers of rain world that the behavior of bubble weed is intended then ill change the name of the mod but badgering me WILL NOT inspire ANY change itll just piss me off. ty
read back if you want to know why its called this !
Either way it's nice seeing civil arguments online these days and good mod.
Admittedly, also, part of it was me going, "okay what would I want to search up in a long list of mods to find it easily" and "fix" was the idea! Though..... maybe having to disable and re-enable all mods repeatedly due to modding isn't a universal thing, huh
Take this as a peace offering!
When I said bad game design, I more meant the uuh never seeing it underwater without actively holding it part? Apologies for not being clear!
"Would you consider grapple worms aiming in the general direction you are holding when used to be bad game design? Most players don't figure this out due to lack of experimentation."
But, you can figure that out pretty easily. In fact I'd be surprised if that isn't something most people know, usually using them is in conjunction with the Underhang in which case you're crying and sobbing and trying to get past as fast as possible lol. It's hard to avoid learning how to use them, and the Underhang practically forces you to learn
I guess keep calling it a fix if you want, it fixes the game to align more with most player's initial expectations. But the base game (not Downpour) doesn't give you more than two at once at any period of time I believe (correct me if I'm wrong). I believe their intent was for you to experiment, and learn that storing one and using each one individually is more effective.
I mean, I can't remember what my thoughts about that were, since it's been 2 years since my first playthrough lol. I imagine I would have thought that holding 2 would benefit me in someway compared to holding just 1 though. However, Rain World breaks expectations all the time.
It doesn't look like bad game design to me, as it just takes some experimentation to learn how it works. Experimentation is the biggest component of Rain World. Whether or not the player experiments with something, experiments in the right way, and observes correctly is up to the player. Well, maybe it is bad game design, but that would lead to most if not all forms of experimentation in Rain World to be considered bad game design.
Would you consider grapple worms aiming in the general direction you are holding when used to be bad game design? Most players don't figure this out due to lack of experimentation.
Not upset at all, I do see where you're coming from! But it does fix something, regardless of if it was the intention of the original devs or not, yannow?
Bubbleweed doesn't typically end up underwater on its own, I don't think I've seen it underwater without me personally holding it. There's no indication of that being the case! At the very least, from the perspective of a game dev, this is not good design. Especially when most rooms have two to three bubble weeds placed about, implying that you should be able to use two at once.
I still feel like it is an issue, but I've also made it out to be a bigger issue than it is, sorry about that.
My issue is that it looks (whether intended or not) like it claims to to fix something that was objectively broken, especially with the precedence set by previous mods that use fix in the title (and refer to something in the base game).
It's more of a quality of life mod, not a mod that fixes something by restoring it to its originally intended state.
Now if the "fix" part of the title refers to fixing (and porting) the og mod, then it makes more sense. But maybe it should be titled the same as the og mod or "Bubbleweed Saver Port" instead.
I'm not trying to come off as rude, the title just looks misleading to me, especially when there is the precedence of other mods that call themselves fixes and legitimately fix broken things in the game, like the Yeek Fix mod.
THANKS YALL!! it was nice to take a break from ermm putting off unbounds update lol.
