[B41/B42] Temperature Affects Food Spoilage Rate

OK I got it

I believe I have answered everything in the description and my previous comment. The mod works on the food rotting pace in sandbox in real time, so it doesn't matter what you set it to as the mod will change it. Also the lowest speed is not 0.5x of normal, that would be too easy. It's something like 0.40x, and the low speed is like 0.70x of normal lol

BTW do this mod only affects food put outside from containers?
Hrogy 19 Aug @ 8:03pm
What I mean is, if I set the food rotting pace in the sandbox option to "very slow" and then enable this mod, will the food rotting pace be affected again? For example, when the sandbox is set to "very slow", the food spoilage speed is 0.5 times the normal speed. If the ambient temperature is lower than the mod's preset minimum temperature of 3.4 degrees Celsius, will the food rotting pace change from 0.5 times to 0.25 times or what?

@Hrogy it doesn't matter what you set the vanilla rotting pace to, only what you set the mod sandbox temperature options to. So yes, set the temperatures to what you want and the pace will adjust. The defaults are mainly meant to be realistic.

will it work once I set food rotting pace to very low in sandbox option?
Hrogy 18 Aug @ 5:04pm
can sandbox option in b42 support changing food rotting speed in different temperature?

Thanks, yeah I hope they'll fix it, seems a big gameplay change but maybe it's a way of forcing people to engage with the farming aspects and such?
I always have more produce than necessary in a sense. Even on a 12 month start with rarest loot which I have always done in B41, you really struggle at first, but eventually things come together and you have a generator, car, canned products, flour, gardening, fish, etc. etc. and then you either die by trying to have some fun in the game or you just move on and pretend your character survived.

Made a discussion thread about it and seems like it's a vanilla issue brought in with 42.11. It seems like the game isn't factoring in the fridge and freezer when spawning in food and determining it's freshness, so everything gets marked as having been sitting out in the open since the start of the apoc. Made a bug report on the PZ forums, so hopefully it'll be addressed in 42.12.
tilarium 16 Aug @ 5:43am
@unlockk After some quick testing that didn't really require much time or work, it looks like the devs must have changed things in 42.11 that affects the spoilage. A clean game with no mods is yielding the same results with everything being rotten a month into the apoc despite being in a powered fridge or freezer.

I haven't had time to run any tests yet but will let you know what I find when I do. The game settings I've been using for a while now have me starting a month into the apocalypse. Before installing the mod I was finding rotten food out in the open, stale food in refrigerators and fresh, frozen food in freezers from the start of the game. After installing, I've been finding rotten food in the open and in refrigerators while in the freezers I've been finding rotten and rotten, frozen food. Going to test around later and see if I can pinpoint if it's the mod, another mod, or a mod conflict.

@tilarium
In what sense? I haven't noticed anything unusual. It's the same code as B41. Maybe the game now spawns food with various expiration dates or something so a lot of the fridges would have spoiled contents by the time you find them.
tilarium 15 Aug @ 2:46pm
Something I've noticed since installing this into my b42 game, most perishable foods are rotten. Which this makes since for things left in the open, I'm seeing most of the foods in fridges and freezers also being rotten.

=Version 1.2=

Updated to support Build 41 and Build 42.

Sandbox settings added.

Honestly, why apply this to refrigerators, bro... why so much realism? Please make a version without affecting anything on refrigerators.

i tried it in b42 and it seems to work but it also resets the sandbox options for refrigeration efficiency to very low instead of the high that i used which means all my shit is rotten now cos i didnt notice :/

There's a bug with "lard" item, for some reason when I hover over it the game basically freezes while showing how much time till Lard goes bad, it goes into thousand of years
NivJake 3 Mar @ 3:31pm
has anyone tested if it does work in b42, i know it says use at your own risk
konte1m 17 Oct, 2024 @ 10:33am
damn bro, you're doing the gods work with those mods
unlockk  [author] 23 Aug, 2024 @ 3:20pm
If anyone has any idea how one could begin to code for items freezing, please let me know.

If it is possible for pots of water in the game to fill up with rain that means they know that: 1. they are on the outside tile, 2. the weather conditions are right. If the "amount of water" bar is able to fill up it should also be possible to fill up the "freezing" bar based on points 1 and 2. I would appreciate any insight into how one could code for this, as I could not find the lua file for rain behaviour which leads me to believe it is hardcoded.
unlockk  [author] 7 Aug, 2024 @ 2:21pm
haha no problem
Anrik 7 Aug, 2024 @ 9:28am
I have to apologize. I forgot that I had installed another mod at the same time. And that mod caused this.
unlockk  [author] 7 Aug, 2024 @ 6:50am
Honestly, there's no way the code affects this, feel free to look through the mod files. Could I please see your entire modlist? Are you sure you don't have Surviving Through Seasons installed or something?
Anrik 7 Aug, 2024 @ 1:23am
Sunday I installed the mod, and since Sunday I have had the problem that the date in the digital clock does not switch from e.g. 08.01. (dd/mm) to 09.01. but to 11.01. And this goes on and on. From 11.01. to 14.01. to 17.01. etc. Previously this error did not occur in my current run and it has now been running for 6 months and 2 days in the game. I have installed PZ on another computer and tried my savefile on this computer. The error is still there. So it seems that my savefile is defective somewhere. But where? And can I change it again?
N0wh3re 2 Aug, 2024 @ 2:56am
You did it!
OriionKek 1 Aug, 2024 @ 10:28pm
does the food freeze if the temperature under 0 degrees celcius?
Ксерокопия члена 1 Aug, 2024 @ 10:19pm
This bread is satanic fat
unlockk  [author] 1 Aug, 2024 @ 6:19am
It is, I have not touched any items. By the way, when you see the item's "days until rotten" on the game wiki [pzwiki.net] or in code, that is on the 'Normal' food spoilage rate sandbox setting.
aquelarrefox 31 Jul, 2024 @ 2:54pm
it appears to be compatible with Far More Perishable Food mod, is it? to be sure
Bunebis 27 Jul, 2024 @ 4:51pm
Thank you, I guess I missed that
unlockk  [author] 27 Jul, 2024 @ 2:36pm
You're welcome. The description explains why the 'refrigerator effectiveness' setting is also affected by this mod.
Bunebis 27 Jul, 2024 @ 1:47pm
Thank you.
is food in fridges and freezers affected?
Mr. Kobaltz SOG 27 Jul, 2024 @ 9:42am
Oh this is good. It always annoyed me during cryogenic winter playthroughs how I’ll be outside in -50° weather and my food is going bad in the next few seconds.
