So, Build 42 - very unstable, they had some serious performance problems. I ran B42 today for 3 hours and the FPS went down to 2(!).

Build 42 is NOT ready to bother with on. I've written more about this in the discussions.

Going back to Build 41...
Ichinin  [author] 16 Jan @ 8:30pm
@Choko No it won't, unstable will be deprecated by the stable release once it's ready, and unstable releases usually have a short lifetime.

Unstable releases are just for testing for people who want an early peek, it's not for production use (i.e. gameplay) - that is what stable is for.
Choko 15 Jan @ 7:53am
@Ichinin it may take years for it to stabilize - - but thanks!
Ichinin  [author] 15 Jan @ 3:43am
@Choko See answer below i wrote to Whowhoo. For now, stay on Build 41.

TIS can still change things around during this pre-release version before B42 (stable) is officially release and break things, which would cause more work for me.
Choko 14 Jan @ 9:08pm
please update build 42!

@WhoWhoo Well if people report in bugs and not just say "update the mod" then i can do it.

Specifically, for each mod i want to know: what is not working? I hardly ever get any bug reports on my mods so it's kind of hard to fix things.

I haven't played B42 unstable yet and don't know. When B42 *STABLE* is released for real then i'll look into updating the mods if they are broken. So for now, stay on B41 if you want to use it.
Lil Whoo Bunny 31 Dec, 2024 @ 1:07am
can we get this updated for B42? Been wanting to make a World War Z (book) playthrough, and this mod is a REQUIREMENT for immersion lol
Ichinin  [author] 17 Dec, 2024 @ 9:12am
@Choki, there is a option to set speed on individual zombies, but i never figured out how to set it - no matter what value i set (a float value i think it was) they didn't behave accordingly.
Choko 16 Dec, 2024 @ 12:01pm
I love this mod but is there an option for walking zombies to walk even slower in the cold until they freeze? For example. Freezing temperature is 0. So 1 to 5 degrees they will walk slower than before (I use only "shambler" walkers in my games with a very high population.
Ichinin  [author] 2 Nov, 2024 @ 2:39am
@Archevette That is certainly an interesting idea. But for now, it stays the way it is until say Build 42.
Archevette 1 Nov, 2024 @ 11:00am
I'd love to see a version of this with tiers that say downgrades zombies from sprinters > fast shamblers > shamblers > frozen solid as the temperature drops.
Mugen 12 Sep, 2024 @ 3:42pm
Yeah I thought so, no worries friend, I don't really know anything about coding or how mods work so I mostly wanted to show you in case that it was a bug with a simple fix, I really like the idea behind this mod and was kind of puzzled as to why it has that rating, reading through the comments tho I understand that it has nothing to do with the mod itself, anyway, I'll probably just try again with less mods.

Thank you for the replies and the mod itself :spiffo:
Ichinin  [author] 11 Sep, 2024 @ 5:45am
@Mugen, well, as i said, i don't see the behavior you described when i tested it yesterday.

When i create mods and test them out, i do so on a standalone local server with very few mods active, apart from the mod i am developing i have maybe a maximum of 6 other mods like errorMagnifyer which is very important when coding.

My mods use unique global variable names and function names that should not collide with other mods, I've been quite aware of this problem since i started modding, and i cannot see that being a problem. If there are conflicts with other mods, i cannot tell since that would create a crapload of job for me to validate my mod against 1000 others. That is just not going to happen.

So - If it does not work for you, then sorry i cannot help you, it appears to work for +200 others, so my qualified guess is that it is something on your end.
Mugen 10 Sep, 2024 @ 1:45pm
Thank you for the response, I uploaded 3 videos to my profile, one is my mod list, and two are gameplay that showcase the issue, one with debug on and the other one is just regular gameplay, all of it was done with my regular mods active, for example "random zombies" since the issue persisted regardless if that mod was active or not, the video still shows the odd behavior tho.
Ichinin  [author] 10 Sep, 2024 @ 7:41am
@mugen, just tried it, and the behavior you are describing isn't happening. Does it happen under any particular conditions? i.e. Night, When zombies are sitting down (sleep)? or some other thing happeneing?
Ichinin  [author] 10 Sep, 2024 @ 7:29am
@mugen, Can say now that i haven't seen this happen though, but I'm gonna check it out. I'll get back to you.
Mugen 9 Sep, 2024 @ 9:59pm
It seems like when I kill a frozen zombie it either falls to the ground or it stays standing up but in either case the corpse can't be looted, if I restart the game those zombies that I killed come back to life, I'm assuming the issue is on my end but the only mod that I have that changes zombie behavior was "random zombies", I test it without it (I unsubscribed to be sure) but the issue persist, you think this is a bug or maybe some conflict with one of the mods that I'm using? most of the mods that I have are quality of life improvements and cosmetic stuff but nothing that affects zombies.
Fox 28 Jul, 2024 @ 8:46pm
My biggest gripe, which is a small list, for PZ is the lack of ... "realism" for zombies, despite everything else being painfully realistic. If heat and cold affect me, why wouldn't it affect zombies? Thank you! :3

Funny enough, this mod seem to be targeted by a bunch of crybabies who downvote. What they don't realize is that they accelerate giving my mod a star, downvotes doesn't work like they think, it's more like the youtube interaction algorithm. And what is better - they can't undo their like or downvote - the votes are stuck.

So, regardless if you click upvote or downvote - thank you :o)
Ichinin  [author] 24 Jul, 2024 @ 11:50am
@tonyzur Several reasons, not gonna go into them here.
tonyzur 24 Jul, 2024 @ 9:26am
interesting mod, i really like the idea, but why do you even care about war? man inflicts harm upon his fellow man, he bares his teeth at his brother and bites him, and he does so eternally. people will continue to suffer so long as there are people to experience the suffering. the entirety of the animal kingdom is held up by the bones of those that become meals. meat eats meat eats meat eats meat... to be frank, the nukes can't come soon enough, or so i'd say, but nukes aren't powerful enough to make a worthwhile change. at least, maybe they could allow us to step off of the carousel.

Pushed out a fix so that zombies also freeze in Singleplayer. Was working already in Multiplayer, but in Singleplayer Zombies kept moving around when "frozen". This video is shot in Singleplayer:

@white_knight_leo I'm not Ukrainian. I just believe in imposing a cost on bullies.

As for the mod, there was a scene in TWD where they smashed a frozen zombie during season 9 or 10 - that is what i wanted to recreate. I even looked for ways of making zombies more "snowy-like" for when they were frozen, but if i wanted that i had to make all new zombie sprites for the game and that would require too much effort. I'm a coder, not a graphics artist.

I barely remember World War Z, the book felt so disorganized (like watching a TV channel with different shows on the subject) and the movie barely touched the original stories from the book, i remember that some people in the book moved north for colder climates for this exact reason.
white_knight_leo 19 Jul, 2024 @ 2:53pm
Why the... oh. I was trying to figure out why anyone would be talking about the war, until I saw your pfp.

Anyway, this mod reminds me of the World War Z book, so I'll consider it.

@blacksotnyk1944 No worries. But you should see some of the ignorant comments i get from kaputin fan-bois who believe everything they are being indoctrinated with from state media.

"ITs rUSsIoPhOBIa"... no, it's the result of a country threatening every European country with nukes every 6 months, invading Ukraine and committing war crimes, assassinating people in Europe, performing sabotage against our industry, spreading political propaganda in the west and turning away from human rights and democracy. There is no reason to even have trade or diplomatic relationships with them anymore.

Now russia is pretty much North Korea 2.0 and are bitching about things they did to themselves, their economy will implode like it did in 1989, but this time - no one will come to their aid.

Thank you for your work!
Ichinin  [author] 19 Jul, 2024 @ 9:42am
Done. Just pushed a new version that allows for temperatures between absolute zero (-273'C) to boiling water temperatures (+100'C) so you can use whatever crazy numbers you want. Have fun!
Jinx Addicted 19 Jul, 2024 @ 9:39am
Yeah, lower it as far as you can, it always good to have variety.
Ichinin  [author] 19 Jul, 2024 @ 9:35am
@Not_DrArtur I can lower the threshold it to -30 or even lower, but freezing temperatures at 0 or just below like -10 should normally do the trick.
Jinx Addicted 19 Jul, 2024 @ 8:47am
Great, should be in the vanilla in some form, but the values here are too small. Why is the minimum -17? For me it makes sense that for a zombie to just froze in a place like that the temperature should be like -30 or -40. Perfect for a harsh winter or cryogenic playthrouh though, but the minimum value should be drasticly changed. Thanks!
