The beta already has a tab ordering capability. You should use that one instead.
It's a bit less granular than mine, but seems to work quite well.
Just be aware that the game's version processes rules from the right tab to the left.

For the 0.9.6 opt in beta, please unsubscribe from this mod. The functionality is either now in the game, or is functionality very similar.

* Sort To Tabs Note: The game now supports mapping a tab to items. It is very similar to the Sort to Tabs mod. While it is less granular than STT (e.g. it cannot specify a specific item), it is close enough for the majority of users.

Then I'm not certain. I didn't change any mods up, it just started working, where it wasn't before. I wonder if the key simply wasn't bound but I also didn't change any keybinds.

The mod doesn't require an item to be hovered to invoke the "Sort To Tabs" functionality (F5 in your example). The user just needs to be on a screen with a storage tab.

If that is not your experience, try disabling other mods to see if there is a conflict.

I don't know why I had trouble getting this to work, but I had to hover over an item within the cargo hold to sort to tabs with F5. I was hovering over the tab itself and I don't know why I didn't try hovering an item sooner. Basically, I failed to realize that F5 = Sort Item to Storage. Hope this helps others.

However, you can press S to sort the current tab.

@nbk_redspy Is there a way to make items stack into existing stacks when the items are moved into their respective tabs?

Currently when I press the hotkey, it moves the items but never stacks them with any of the existing stacks that were already in that tab. So I end up with like 5 different partial stacks of that item that have to be manually combined.

Seems to be working with 0.9.5! Thank you, the 'press F5 to quick tab sort' is awesome! I've not tried customizing the default sort but I think the default is good as is!

Hey there,

Thanks again for this great QOL mod.

Just to confirm my understanding,
If I want a specific item to go to a certain destination table. I need to go into the Excel file, modify the type, save and then it should filter accordingly right? For example, for the food container to go into food instead of container, I need to just change the type to replace "container"?

I don't know if I am missing something but everything I save the change, it seems to revert back to the original after starting the game (at least when modifying the Excel with all the items file)

Any guidance would be appreciated,

Yep, the rules can be completely customized. How to change the rules are in the description above. It can be as much as "All of these types go to this tab", all the way down to "I want this specific item" to go to this tab.

If you want some help to get started, you can @ me on the Discord server. But give it a go first if you don't mind. If something gets messed up, you can just delete the config file and the default one will be created next time the game is launched.

is there a way to change this i would like to have
turrets robots melee weapons and weapon container in cargo 7
all ranged weapons in cargo 6
all ammo and grenades in cargo 5
all armor and clothing containers vests backpacks in cargo 4
all medical/implants/contracts in cargo 3
all food/ food containers / alcohol in cargo 2
and the rest in cargo 1
would it be hard for me to change this mod in such a way (im a total noob at this) or is this pretty easy to acomplish ?

all but four of my mods are currently compatible with the opt in 0.9.1 beta.
The incompatible mods will have an Important section at the top.
Tried the mod out with the beta after trying to tough out sorting everything manually. Seems to still work well - default config file. I haven't gone in and customized any of the sorting.

Uninstall BepInEx. It is no longer needed and is incompatible with many mods.

Figure I would leave this here. For whatever reason this mod doesnt conflicts with the old "QM -Enable console" mod. I know its old and I totally forgot I had it installed.

So if you ever have a person report a "black screen" on start up, that might be a reason.

No problem. I too have had Steam not update mods for some reason. Another trick is that verifying the game files should also update mods.

Unfortunately, any mod that adds items to the game will generally be unsafe to remove from a save.

Deleting and redownloading my mods seems to have fixed the issue, the mod is working fine now. The save file that wasn't working was from the previous stable version, but was corrupted by another mod. Apologies for the confusion

There will be multiple slot_<number>.* files per save. The saves start at zero.

There is now a separate version of this mod that is compatible with the opt in beta.
Any of my mods that require a beta version will have the same mod name, but a "BETA ONLY" suffix and BETA white and red icon.

I understand that you have a lot of mods to work on, but I wanted to ask if your mods will be getting updates for the beta branches as they roll out, or if you're only going to be updating during the main releases?

Such an essential QoL improvement. The base game needs this, and I don't how if I would keep playing as long as I have if it weren't for this sorting my stuff. Love a good auto-sort.
Definitely feels like this feature was intended when they added the AutoDissassembly ship upgrade.

The mod is in working order currently, so let's attribute the hiccup to engine being feisty or most likely user error.

Fantastic mod, really reduced the tedium of cargo management. E feature the game begs to be vanilla. Great work.

Also, make sure you are pressing the Item Move key (F5 by default) to cause the items on the current tab to be moved.

The remaining item is updating the default rules to work like the previous version.
for example, the 0.8.5 update has robots in the same category as turrets.
