there are dualshock PS1 controllers
L4D2 on the PS1 would definitely take a lot of optimizing but it could probably work
I agree that PS2 / PS3 would be more possible

im pretty sure if l4d2 was actually ported to an old sony console it would either be ps2 or ps3 because of the 2 analog sticks on the ps2 and ps3 controllers, it wouldnt really work on ps1 since ps1 was made for more simpler games unlike l4d2 which you need way more buttons to play, well by more buttons i mean an analog stick not a dpad

Even in Wolfen, Doom, Quake, and all those games, facial features were recognizable on textures. Maybe you should try making the facial features yourself here too instead of just resizing them.

Hello mister shimsham, It seems that both rochelle and zoey have some... broken animations or just missing ones when they appear in games, Only their third person ones tho, Example:

Zoey and Rochelle sometimes A pose, I've even saw zoey run with her sword using her healing animation (It was very funny)

So maybe you should look into that
