I cannot reproduce your error. I took the car out of the parking lot into the garage and washed it in the wash box.
Then back outside the garage and then back into the parking lot. All without any problems and no hang-ups.
Saved and exited the game, then started again without any problems.

But I really can't imagine that a config that doesn't contain any model parts itself would cause something like that.
