some suggestions (idk how to make uni mods nor do i know how to code in .NET or else i would have made it myself) .
a larger setup: (like a nuclear powerplant)
- increase damage done to dupe when near or when holding a radioactive material
- a reactive chamber where we put in uranium or enriched urnium( gives more heat) (this only releases lot of heat and can be submerged in liquids.)
- this chamber has an input output for liquid (enters -> exits (with higher temperature like opposite of aquatuner))
- and then we can use our steam turbine setup for cooling and making electricity

basically like a nuclear powerplant

Can you add in the ability to adjust the values of the mod. i think that will make this perfect for everyone. to have the wattage and the amount of material consumed per second to be changable would be great

Okay I feel the need to clarify my earlier comment since it was mostly angry and not constructive. A real RTG of the same size will provide 300w for over 100 years. Some designs are theorized to last for 1000 years !!!! So you see how disappointing this version is by comparison. It should last longer, way way waaaaaaay longer.

Maybe a dumb question, but why is the power output so low? Real RTGs can do a lot better than this. This mod's RTG is comparable in output to the RTG used on the Apollo 11 mission, and that was half a century ago.

I hate this mod so much. I was thinking it was going to be realistic and got excited. Then I found out they run out of fuel in like 5 minutes. what a let down.

I just want to pay you a complement; firstly for the creation of something with a practical value. Secondly for your excellent defense of the motivations behind its inception. You know how the community here can be, well played sir.

Do you need any help? You may use dnSpy and try to know how other mods do these things.
Anyway, its' a great mod.

great mod perferct to be used inside a rocket

Can't effectively compare those numbers to a research reactor considering that setting one up for power production is considerably more complicated but definitely more effective, but that is why this mod is so good, instead of having to rely on a research reactor, a less efficient but simpler method of power production can be used until the base is built up enough to get a full research reactor setup

Wow, this seems really useful and very well balanced. At first I was worried it might be one of those mods that adds some super busted power source, then I was worried it might be too underwhelming, but running all the numbers it seems to be very nice in terms of how balanced it is, either being a simple device to just power those small devices for 133 cycles after being fueled once, or being a somewhat effective way of producing larger quantities of power, at 200 Watts for one kg of enriched uranium a cycle.

You also cant add tech to High Pressure Forging in Vanilla either, since it is DLC only.
Shrglwyddes 10 Mar, 2024 @ 8:27am
Your mod causes crashes on vanilla base game. Your mod should be DLC only in modinfo.yaml OR use a different fuel in vanilla since Enriched Uranium is not available in Vanilla. I am not sure if you can use radium, but I doubt it.

100% all good and good reasons to not do it :)

Now I understand what you really wanted to ask.

Well... I think I will not add radiation emission to RTG.
1) RTG in real world does not emit radiation to outside of the device.
2) I want RTG to be a very stable and quiet generator.
3) My knowledge is not enough to create such complicated and dynamic characteristics...
mementh 8 Mar, 2024 @ 12:30am
it answers but was hoping it could add in next version?
VLV  [author] 7 Mar, 2024 @ 8:19pm
@mementh
Sorry, RTG does not emit radiation so no rad bolts can be generated.
+ I believe RTG can be controlled by automation system.

Did my answers help you?

this looks like a nice addition.. does it make rad bolts? could a version make some and fire it off with or without automation?
