@ Kellnaved I don't think warhammer world has anything justifying to take water nations. I think a mod that would remove all or most non-warhammer spells from spellbook would allow AI to not go there too?
Kellnaved 27 Jul @ 10:17pm
Well, I just wanted to make sure this great map would see more use. And since Sombre's Warhammer mod is so popular (I know it is my most played one) this map(s) might see a lot of use aswell. In any case: Great work especially with the "Mortal Empires" variant.
Soaptastesok  [author] 27 Jul @ 2:36pm
@Kellnaved I'll take the request under advisement.
At best all I can do is remove connections to some of the sea tiles. Removing them from the art and from the map using the in-game editor would require a complete re-make of the map from scratch.
Kellnaved 27 Jul @ 2:09pm
Yes. And I enjoy the Mortal Empires one very much. It's just that I would like to enjoy the biggest one too but there is no challenge even on the highest difficulty if i can just conquer 100s of water provinces. I am just saying that because I am pretty sure a lot of people would think the same thing. I know it is not supposed to be balanced. It was just an observation.
Soaptastesok  [author] 27 Jul @ 9:31am
@Kellnaved that's why I made 3 different versions of this map, one including having NO sea provinces.
Kellnaved 27 Jul @ 9:07am
Sure but it doesn´t really matter since many Nations will still get under water quickly and then get basically infinite provinces for income and gems making it completely imbalanced for nations without a start near the ocean or without a quick way to go underwater.
Soaptastesok  [author] 24 Jul @ 3:43pm
@Kellnaved The advanced version, funny enough, was not balanced around having water races as it was implicitly designed for the WH mod. The number of water tiles was strictly to increase the time it takes to cross the water.
Kellnaved 24 Jul @ 12:58pm
This are really good looking maps. It wouldn´t be possible to - vastly - reduce the number of water provinces for the ADVANCED version though? Nearly 400 Water provinces is just too insane.

Great map, and I've had alot of fun with it. That being said, I think Ulthuan should have a land-land way to get off of the island. That could be done in multiple ways, like you could have a boat/ferry icon on the map, select a link from the edge province to the closest one on the other continent.

I realize that likely won't be done, or it might not be possible, but it's just a suggestion for future edits or updates on the map, etc. I also realize how this thematically might not make sense, but the simple reality is that being on that island permanently gimps the player or npc that spawns on it, both in income, and gem production - it leads to their loss in an inevitable and not fun way. It's also pretty difficult for a dedicated land faction to escape the island, especially facing ones that have decent underwater capability. Anyways thank you, really I enjoy this map. :Thor::Saxon:

@Rubber Ducky as stated in the description, the full files for this map are provided in the download. I also welcome people to make edits and publish it to the workshop themselves.
Rubber Ducky 1 Feb @ 10:56am
Needs to cut down sea provinces by a lot.
Andkat 30 Nov, 2024 @ 2:18pm
I love the land map but (playing with vanilla nations) the sea winds up being really overkill in terms of sheer number of provinces and everything being on a very dull square grid; it also winds up being very easy for every UW nation to secure a ludicrous number of provinces if you're playing with them.
index 21 Oct, 2024 @ 8:26pm
hi i am new to this how do i see the map and play on it ?
ndd 16 Aug, 2024 @ 5:10am
Playing as chaos dwarves, this map is unplayable. You start in mountain provinces, and cold weather prevents movement. Love the artwork and everything, but it needs some more work on province connections to be playable, and many of the provinces just have generic names. So my events list looks like:

Event in Coastline
Event in Coastline
Event in Mountains
Event in Coastline
Event in Mountains
etc.

So I would say it's close, but not yet there.
Tanaka 6 Jul, 2024 @ 10:13pm
Could we get a version of this without sea provinces?
Tanaka 20 Jun, 2024 @ 12:24am
Awesome map! I noticed as the Beastmen you start in a mountain province surrounded by mountain provinces. So if you pick cold scales you cannot move and are stuck...
Nefarriss 9 Jun, 2024 @ 1:31am
The map is very good, thank you! Though the turn time is indeed quite long.
Князь Владимир 19 May, 2024 @ 3:43am
How can a Slaanesh get out of Ultaan?
madpoet 5 Apr, 2024 @ 2:27pm
Oh holy shit
Gergenuss 10 Mar, 2024 @ 10:10am
There are some nations with sailing though. So some sea provinces do make sense. But its up to you :)
Nukular Power 10 Mar, 2024 @ 12:58am
no edit button on here sadly but just to clarify, my only complaint with the map isnt even the turn times, its just a huge pain in the ass to conquer this many sea tiles, even as a water nation. i dont know about 1/4, but 1/2 or 1/3 would sound about right to me personally, for what thats worth
Nukular Power 10 Mar, 2024 @ 12:57am
but.. but... no sea tiles isnt what i want either, i'm using this for nonwarhammer games just cuz its a cool map haha

But all good if you'd just rather not worry about it, thanks again either way :)
Soaptastesok  [author] 9 Mar, 2024 @ 11:35pm
In the meantime I suggest you try Mortal Empires, the newer version of this map. Overall smaller but significantly more balanced (this map version is for people that don't care and just want the largest one possible)
Soaptastesok  [author] 9 Mar, 2024 @ 8:36pm
I'm currently working on an update to remove sea tiles and replace them with land regions that connect over the ocean. Unfortunately it requires an entire rework of the map, so it may take awhile to release.
fxknight 9 Mar, 2024 @ 7:41pm
As Gergenuss said, Soaptastesok, the huge amount of sea tiles makes loading between turns take too long, and I think most of us, like Nukular Power, feel the same. Having such a huge number of sea provinces may address a rather unusual concern from some loud reactions to your last map, but I don't think most of us have that problem, nor has any map taken such a solution, for good reasons. Please consider chopping number of sea provinces way, way down. Long loading times are a much bigger issue that all of us experience, even with really fast gaming computers, with this number of sea tiles. It sometimes takes minutes between turns. Anyway, it's your mod, and it's great, so do as you like, and thank you for your hard work!
Gergenuss 8 Mar, 2024 @ 9:22am
May I suggest that you make a version were you divide current amount of sea provinces by four? It would still leave the map with 97 sea provinces but would save greatly on loading time :)
Nukular Power 8 Mar, 2024 @ 2:14am
isnt teleporting across the ocean the point of sailing though? personally i would prefer larger ocean tiles here but otherwise love this map, fantastic work and thank you
Soaptastesok  [author] 7 Mar, 2024 @ 10:58pm
As an aside, @Fxknight, I specifically made the ocean tiles small because in my previous maps people were upset that you could use a boat to essentially teleport across the map. For this iteration I wanted there to be sea factions available, but I had to balance it around the land nations being the focus. As such smaller blocks makes sailing very time consuming.
Soaptastesok  [author] 7 Mar, 2024 @ 9:12pm
The simplified version has been released, and addresses almost all the issues written below.

That said I will be leaving the Advanced version up which is intended for use in the base game, which contains sea factions.
Marshall Davout 6 Mar, 2024 @ 2:38am
What fxknight said. Reduce sea areas.
Walker 5 Mar, 2024 @ 7:17pm
this seems like a map that will take years to pass a turn.
Adultlink 5 Mar, 2024 @ 2:25pm
any thoughts on including the underground with fast travel underway stuff? That could be really fun
fxknight 4 Mar, 2024 @ 9:46am
This map is gorgeous! You've done so well with it, and it's very fun to play. I have just two considerations:
The Empire area is indeed overcrowded in the lore, and kicking some things to other places was a good choice. But if there is one faction which IS in the empire, it HAS to be Altdorf! That's the capital Empire faction. Please consider having Altdorf have the empire starting location and kick Middenheim somewhere else.
This map has 100+ ocean provinces, most of them perfect little squares. Nobody else does it that way for a very good reason... it makes most of the world just plain inaccessible, even with sailing or flying... and WH has no underwater factions. Please consider zoning the oceans in very large swaths of water as a single province instead of the grid squares. The number of ocean provinces should be more like 30, and not into the hundreds, which is making event resolution take a long, long time, even on a very fast gaming PC.
Can't wait for the non-advanced version!
Marshall Davout 3 Mar, 2024 @ 5:58am
I haven't played too much into a game on this map just yet, but it is certainly beautiful.

Being so large, it seems like we really need to split the factions somewhat. Multiple dwarf nations, skaven, etc. Similar to what was done in TW.
Eeshton 2 Mar, 2024 @ 8:14pm
Just wanted to say thank you!!!!!!!!!! Your work is appreciated. Underempire, deeproads, chaos realms, so much possibility!
Gergenuss 2 Mar, 2024 @ 9:06am
The map is very pretty. Love it
Nukular Power 2 Mar, 2024 @ 1:53am
lovely.
Soaptastesok  [author] 29 Feb, 2024 @ 3:19pm
@King of Winter it's something I've thought about. I purchased the base map used, and it did not include any type of underground setting, so I didn't include it. That said; making one is not too artistically difficult. It's something I'll consider in the future. As it's the big feature introduced with 6 I would like to take advantage of it.

@Mashall Davout thanks! Let me know what you think. I spent A LOT of time working on this.
Marshall Davout 29 Feb, 2024 @ 6:55am
Looks nice. Most of my time with Dom6 has been using the WH mod, so I will definitely give this a go
King of Winter 29 Feb, 2024 @ 12:59am
Underempire/deeproads coming at any point? would be a pretty awesome use of the new underground layer feature. I understand if that isn't something you feel like doing though.
