3/4/25: Minor Update Released - Minor Visual Changes. Black lines around the head, hairline, and nose thickened to better match the vanilla artstyle.

I really like this skin but the creator should look into making the arms armoured for the armoured version. It looks a bit silly. Other than that though, top tier, really good take on a genderbend and makes vestal a completely new character while adhering to the artstyle.

I personally didn't even notice the cross difference. The game uses a very close variation of a celtic cross but i actually really like the change!

Update Released: Changed the symbol on the Friar's Rosary to a proper symbol befitting a follower of The Light within the lore of Darkest Dungeon in order to improve immersion.

If anyone preferred the original version, please let me know and I may upload the old version as its own mod if enough people want it.

@Leizar Nafaras Good News! I went ahead and updated the skin and all its palettes to have the more immersive lore-friendly symbol on the rosary. I was able to do it pretty quickly by just yoinking the symbol from the art of the NPC at the Abbey. Thank you so much for your input! I think the skin is a lot better now because of you.

Honestly looking into it more I think you’re right, i just realized that the NPC at the Abbey even has a very similar rosary around his neck that features the symbol on the Vestal’s book. I think that would be the more fitting symbol.

I’ll put out a version with it some point, maybe after I finish another skin or two.

Didn't really thought about it, you're right about the trinket and some tombstones. I assumed the "official" symbol is the one found all over the Abbey, on heroes' graves, and Vestal's items. Also I wonder why it would look like the variant friar has (in Christianity it's kind of obvious), while something akin to solar cross seems more fitting for a religion that worships light. But maybe they are all corerct or different sects use modified symbols just to highlight their identity :)

Honestly I think my problem is more psychological than related to the game lore and this one is so strongly associated with a real-world institution that it breaks immersion a bit. Like as if the game used swastika (also a solar symbol) and expected people's first thought not to be "Nazi Germany" :P

I’ve had another person also take issue with the cross and I honestly don’t understand what the problem is. The game has regular crosses all over the place. Many tombstones are crosses and there are also cross trinkets. When you talk about the Light’s symbol I assume you’re referring to the symbol on the Crusader’s chest, right? That’s just a cross variant that we see in real life too. I don’t think it’s intended that it’s the one and only true symbol of the light. There are multiple types of crosses all over the game. I don’t really know the lore surrounding the light though, so may just be completely wrong about this.

Anyways, I will consider making a variant with the other style of cross, but probably not any time soon, since I’m working on other skins right now. In the meantime, feel free to make whatever edits you’d like. I’d love to see how it turns out if you make any changes :)

The art looks great and imo he doesn't stand out from vanilla heroes. The only thing that bothers me more than it should is that the Light uses a different style of cross. Are there any chances that you'd make a version with Light's symbol for at least one color scheme? If not, may I do it when I have time (and skill ;))?

PS Can't wait til he gets irrational and starts complaining about his chastity belt

I'm working on a Grave Robber skin right now, and I have plans/sketches for a few other skins as well. I plan to make one for each of the entire vanilla cast, but who knows if I will ever achieve that.

Ah alright my mistake on that part. I did test it and it works with the Unofficial Palette Expansion! I am curious if you plan to do any other style of mods like this with the other vanilla hero's.

I don't think it should conflict with Unofficial Palette Expansion. That doesn't touch the fx files as far as I know. That just adds color variants. There's no reason it would conflict.

This really look's nice! I adore the idea of I guess reasonable gender swap skins for certain heros! Sadly thou like in your description I'd assume it will conflict with stuff like Unofficial Palette Expansion Pack. Otherwise I'd love to use it!

Thank you so much for enjoying my mod! I'm not really taking any "official" requests per se, as I have a dozen other skins I'm already planning on making, but I welcome any suggestions you have. I wouldn't count on anything coming of it, but if I like your idea enough I might consider running with it.

@Roku I appreciate the suggestion, but I likely will not be making making any changes to the shape of the sprite at this point. I would have to make that change across 8 different palettes, and it would not be as simple as just copying it between them due to the differences in color. I plan to make a smaller change that just uses black lines to exaggerate the features further, however.

Hello! Hoping back at it, maybe you could re-shape it and make him with his mouth closed, on tears. that could work better since you based off him from vestal, he looks kinda goofy on the portraits

Thank you for your input. Looking at it again with your comment in mind, I can definitely see what you mean. He’s missing some of that demented, exaggerated look that affliction art should have. I think if I had the mouth downturned a bit more and exaggerated the shadows around the eyes I could improve it significantly without spending a lot if time making major changes. I’ll do that and put out an update sometime when I get the chance. Thank you so much for your feedback!

If i may hop in, i would say the eyes and mouth on the affliction are more "happy looking" than mad. On a second look i can see a more afflicted face but it really doesn't strike as maddening, more so excited.

@Roku Thank you! Would you mind telling me what exactly the problem with the face on the affliction art is? I’m actually quite fond of the face, but I’d definitely like to get your perspective on it. Good to get a second pair of eyes on it.
