Are there any major mods this is incompatible with? Admittedly I keep a large mod list but I've tried loading this one at the very bottom and I can't seem to actually get the Hometown to show up when hovering over a characters age - but the modifier does show up.
Royal Coyote 21. sep. kl. 3:46
Yay nice one dude
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 21. sep. kl. 3:31
@Royal Coyote Just updated it!

@vidz99 Thank you for that, I've corrected this in the newest version
Royal Coyote 20. sep. kl. 20:54
Hi still any plans with an update sorry
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 2. juli kl. 10:42
@vidz99 sorry to hear that. I'm fairly busy with work at the moment, but I'll try update it with a fix at some point. Sorry I'm not sure when that will be though.
vidz99 1. juli kl. 14:01
There is the following error:
[title_links.cpp:201]: Failed to fetch a valid landed title 'b_wurttemburg' at location 'file: events/hometowns_events.txt line: 263 (hometowns.01:immediate)'

The landed title should be called 'b_wurttemberg' with an 'e'.

Greeting ! I am fan of your mods, I want more Chinese player to use your mod. So I've translated your mod in Chinese, could you please add a link in description?

Here's my Chinese translation: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3090564070

hello, could you pack your change to a template like
template hometown_tooltip{
tooltip = "[SelectLocalization( Character.MakeScope.Var('hometowns_birthplace').IsSet, 'HOMETOWNS_BIRTHPLACE_TOOLTIP', 'VANILLA_BIRTHPLACE_TOOLTIP' )]"
}
so other mod can call it to compatible with hometown without a compatch?
tilarium 25. dec. 2024 kl. 5:54
@Cyberbear That yellow triangle in the launcher really has no basis on anything and should be removed by Paradox. The mod is updated to 1.14, all parts of 1.14.
MangoCobra 25. dec. 2024 kl. 5:52
Can you please update it for 1.14.2.2, just so tthe launcher doesn'ty keep yelling at me that it is out of date? :)
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 23. dec. 2024 kl. 1:49
@shirlaciamorris It should do now at least, I updated it yesterday. There might be issues with the addons for total conversions if you're using one of those though, I haven't tested yet.
shirlaciamorris 19. dec. 2024 kl. 14:24
does this mod still wrk
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 6. nov. 2024 kl. 14:27
@Damage inc. Yikes, that's not good - I haven't played myself to confirm yet but yeah I do still need to officially update the mod. Thanks for letting me know.
Damage inc. 6. nov. 2024 kl. 12:53
This mod seems to currently crash the game on startup. Probably related to the wandering nobles update?
Saroodai 13. okt. 2024 kl. 20:57
I like this mod, but not working well with rename anyone !!
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 8. okt. 2024 kl. 8:51
@blazeknave Thanks! That's a neat idea, I'll look into it.
blazeknave 7. okt. 2024 kl. 21:07
@Mekbots - love the RP from this mod! Can you create a memory at birth along the lines of "Born in __Hometown__" ? Also nice to have for the parent, a memory of where they birthed their child?
This also solves for losing the data at character death.
Ed Balls 3. okt. 2024 kl. 23:24
this mod is awesome
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 20. sep. 2024 kl. 19:06
I think with the next update and DLC, this mod could be more interesting than ever, so I'm going to try remember to make sure its compatible and update it as soon as possible.
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 28. maj 2024 kl. 3:38
@ShadowMalachi it wont apply to existing characters in the save, however every new character born after you enable it should get a hometown like normal.
Alexander Erebus 24. maj 2024 kl. 12:53
Does it work with existing saves?
taesunwoo 7. maj 2024 kl. 7:06
Would anyone know which one of the big mods would cause this mod to not work?
Ahoyande 23. apr. 2024 kl. 2:40
@cuomo860 I love Personage and really wish I could use it. But I use Better User Interface Scaling unfortunately. I wish I could use both. I subscribed to your mod though -- thanks for making it.
Lyvean 21. apr. 2024 kl. 22:43
I am sorry, I meant hometowns for their birth, birthdates are fine.
cuomo860 21. apr. 2024 kl. 16:00
@Ahoyande. Try my version of Personage (Gambo Personage) it has most every major window_character.gui mod functionality integrated into it.

Ahoyande 21. apr. 2024 kl. 14:02
I'd love to use this mod @MEKBOTS but I have lots of mods that conflict with the window_character.gui file. Any chance you could duplicate the hometown info someplace else? Like maybe a right-click interaction that fires an event popup that displays the character's hometown? Thanks for this wonderful mod!
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 21. apr. 2024 kl. 12:08
@radwilly1 I'm not familiar with that mod actually, but generally speaking it's actually better for those other mods to make theirs compatible with this instead, simply by using the global variable 'hometowns_is_loaded' from this mod. Otherwise it would require me to include or copy the work from others and build it into Hometowns directly which I'm not comfortable with, nor would it be necessary for anyone not playing without that or any other mod.
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 21. apr. 2024 kl. 12:05
@Lyvean Does the game rule show up when starting a new game or in your current game when paused? If so then it probably actually is one of your other mods; anything that touches the character window, if loaded after Hometowns, will make it so Hometowns don't display in the birth tool-tip.
Lyvean 21. apr. 2024 kl. 11:50
I do not think this is working for me. I just started a new game as Munchad in Ireland and had two kids. None of them display birth dates. I have other mods as well, but nothing that would conflict. Any clues?
radwilly1 18. apr. 2024 kl. 15:09
@Mekbots can you make this compatibile with Obfuskate?
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 30. mar. 2024 kl. 14:43
@DaoistKon Interesting. In my testing and experience playing with the mod it has worked as intended. Are you certain she wasn't accompanying you on a pilgrimage or just passing through the province at the time of the birth? That's the only way I could imagine this happening. The mod intentionally works so that babies born on the road get the province their mother was travelling through at the time as their birthplace, even working in sea provinces.
DaoistKon 30. mar. 2024 kl. 14:19
@Mekbots i have a child whose mother was in france at the time of the birth event. yet his birthplace is set to rome.
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 30. mar. 2024 kl. 14:10
@DaoistKon What do you mean? The birthplaces for historical characters at game start (at least the ones I've added) are to the best of my knowledge where we believe them to have been born. Any characters created after the start of the game have a birthplace from the province where they were born - specifically the final pregnancy event where a character is named.
DaoistKon 30. mar. 2024 kl. 14:01
are the hometowns of this mod supposed to be inaccurate?
jdkocemba 29. mar. 2024 kl. 20:22
Ahora funciona correctamente en español. ¡Gracias! :Gifting:
Vielislav 29. mar. 2024 kl. 10:47
would it be possible, for you, to add compatibility with uniui?
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 28. mar. 2024 kl. 16:38
@jdkocemba I'll see what I can do. What I can probably do is create some basic first translations as best to my ability just so something displays in the right language instead of the code, but it will probably be poorly translated to which I'll need help correcting it.
jdkocemba 28. mar. 2024 kl. 16:09
¿Será posible colocarlo en español? Solo veo códigos en mi partida. :bad_beauty:
cuomo860 19. mar. 2024 kl. 7:45
@Timou. If you have any mod that affects the character window it will overwrite this mod. Which is likely the case. You need a mod that integrates this mod's character window changes like Gambo Personage or I believe there's another one.
Timou 19. mar. 2024 kl. 7:15
166 mods. This mod is in the midlle (81)
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 19. mar. 2024 kl. 7:10
@Timou are you playing with any other mods?
Timou 18. mar. 2024 kl. 22:49
Not wors. Not displays location in the birth date tooltip.
The Knight 10. mar. 2024 kl. 10:23
Hmm. Fair. I think the idea was mostly intended for unlanded characters without jobs - random courtiers.
Mekbots  [ophavsmand] 10. mar. 2024 kl. 7:59
@StovepipeHat That's an interesting idea and I see where you're coming from but unfortunately I don't think that's something I personally want to include. I prefer the idea that characters will sort of stay abroad rather than always gravitating back to their birthplace which in some cases might have actually just been while on the road or even while their mother was imprisoned. I agree that it's not ideal that characters just bounce around the map randomly without restrictions, but I'd rather that than all characters wander back home when it feels more suitable that they would keep travelling the world.
The Knight 10. mar. 2024 kl. 5:44
Could you make it so wandering characters wander, over time, back towards their birthplace? Like, if someone invites a knight but refuses them, they go back home instead of wandering through subsaharan Africa?
Owl 8. mar. 2024 kl. 13:17
I dont think this is working for me, its not showing up in game rules
