@Doc903 , the skin/ model of this version of flamethrower actually adapts to gl skin each player uses. For example, if there's a rocket launcher skin mod that replace gl skin, then this flamethrower will change to rocket launcher. So if there's a flamethrower skin mod that replace gl, you can try that skin mod, & this flamethrower will change to that skin too.

If you could figure out how to port the old "World at War" flamethrower to to this as the knife, that would be insine.

@kurochama Now that it's installed on my server and working well, I've been able to set it up as a balanced weapon with low damage and longer attack range compared to chainsaws. Thank you so much for making such a great mod:steamthumbsup:!

@kurochama would it be possible to attach a gas can on players back whenever they are holding the flamethrower as to differenciate the two, maybe possibly using the hard rain gas can as it can already be put on players back

@云状态未同步 , I updated this mod with a new "Flamethrower Damage" feature in the cfg file. Now you can change the damage via there.

@云状态未同步 , yes, it shouldn't be difficult. I think I can add another feature to freely modify the fire damage on the next update, so people can modify the damage as they like.

Can the damage of the fire be modified? I just want it to be able to kill hunter or jockey in a short time like a chainsaw:steamhappy:,thx!

Blast pushback - I saw on a public server where a player blasting tank or player or something, it's for fun purpose only not that important though. Maybe can blast small stuffs around you. The first 2 points are good enough imo. The others are just for fun/eye-candy purpose

@steeg , probably some of them might be possible, like:
- A special hint when looking at flamethrower with gl skin.
- Settings to adjust range & attack damage.
- Refuel with ammo piles (this one will look rather strange though)
- Blast pushback? I'm not sure about this, but if it's to stagger special infected & tank when burned with flamethrower, that's possible. Normal pushback without stagger should also be possible, but this might only work on anything other than common infected & witch.
- Particle change for flamethrower might or might not possible. It means that simply changing it to another existing fire particle is possible, but I'm not sure if it will be without a bug as some particles might not be compatible to replace the fire particle (for example, acid pool might look strange if it replaces the fire particle).

As for freely replace other weapons with flamethrower, that might be difficult. As for extinguisher, that one has no 1st person view.

Thanks for the game-changer update, these are my suggestion for future updates:

• Adding a glow/hint/skin or anything that can differentiate between a regular GL with the flamethrower
• Ability to choose Extinguisher entity in addition to GL weapon, which is already in the game
• Ability to replace any weapon other than Knife
• Ability to adjust range of attack and damage per touch
• Ability to refuel with ammo pile
• Ability to use blast-pushback like Pyro in Team Fortress 2
• Ability to change/select Flamethrower particles and glow

If not all, I hope you might consider some of these :-)

@steeg & @Narco, I updated the mod with a cfg file to control max fuel & friendly fire. Now friendly fire can be completely disabled via cfg file.

@Narco , so the flamethrower damage even bypasses FF cvars? Probably I'll really need to add a feature in the cfg file to nullify FF damage from flamethrower on the next update. Thanks for the info.

@steeg , which main version? Rectus's original version, or this one Makeshift Flamethrower (knife) ? If it the latter, that only has an update to change the fuel via cfg file, & I didn't change the friendlyfire damage. I think you can use cvars to disable friendlyfire damage (though actually I can also add a feature to the cfg file about friendlyfire damage modifier, probably using cvars would be easier).

Please add an option to disable friendly fire damage. You can easily incap other survivors especially when they're 8+ players around.

Perhaps an update like the main version, and an option to refuel using ammo pile...

I thought maybe emulate the Medkit placement area could spawn a ghost medkit with Gascan skin as to only be a visual change when the player has the flamethrower in his hand, this could also be compatible with L4D1 characters as im not sure if the same gascan item works for them as they are not included in hard rain

@Narco , for gascan on survivor's back, maybe I'll need to do some checks on Hard Rain first. But I'm not sure if I can add it or not

As for balancing suggestions:
- Longer fire stream: As I mainly just ported this, I still have less clues about how to make it longer. It might require some tests until the scripts to make it longer are discovered.
- Carriable gascan: Probably I can add "virtual inventory" instead for this, just like what I did on some of my mods. But I'll have to limit it to only one gascan, so it won't be used as a glitch to store all gascans for an easy scavenge finale.

For the official release, I still don't get what it meant. As for the graphics, as I'm not that good at editing picture (that's why I usually used simple image previews on mod display), I greatly appreciate your offer, as long as it doesn't take much of your time to make. & I'll add your designs to replace the item display & also add on item preview slideshow.

May i suggest that when players equip the flamethrower the survivor would have a gas canister on his back
(Similar to the Hard Rain ending)

Balancing suggestions:
-Longer fire stream
-Possibly Replace the medkit/deployable slot with gas can as to balance the flamethrower class

Maybe more official release of "Flamethrower mod"? ill do the graphics for free willingly

@Narco , as for the use when incapped, that might be difficult to do because L4D2 system would automatically switch to pistol no matter what. I ever tried to make survivors able to use primary weapon when incapped without having to modify weapon scripts, but the system kept making survivor switch to pistol in less than 1 second.

As for the difficulty in refilling, that's still based on the original as I didn't change anything except the type of spawned melee. The trick to refill it more easily is by getting close to it until the red glow turns to white, & then just press E on it.

im all up for it being used while getting a beatdown by specials, i would even suggest the flamethrower to be available to be used when the player is incapped on ground with a weapon so it wouldnt switch to a pistol, the flame is great for clearing commons, but that could be taken as too op

Smol issue: The flamethrower is hard to refill as the player needs to stand directly above it and aim at a very specific spot, could you maybe rotate the flamethrower to be laying flat on the ground as opposed to be sticking upwards?

@Narco , that's a bug from the original version. Even you can use flamethrower while climbing a ladder. Well, it's kind of beneficial bug for survivors, I think, especially on the ladder, as survivors can't shoot zombies if some of them are climbing down, & prevent survivors from climbing up.

@Shad3rEVO , this mod only changes the knife skin to grenade launcher & doesn't change anything on the real grenade launcher. I'm not sure about which GL reanimation mods, so you can try it first & type "give knife" on console.

@Narco , for the fire on the tip of weapon, actually it's strange because I didn't change that effect but somehow it didn't show up when ported to GL. As for the flame view on 3rd person, it looks like it has something to do with the original spawn location of the flame. It could be tricky on the 3rd person, so I'm not sure if I can fix it soon as i need to do some experiments about the new spawn location of the flame on 3rd person view.

@COACH , the skin of this mod follows any GL skin you use, so if you don't use any GL mod, it will show the original GL skin.

Mechanically works perfectly, amazing! Very small issue, the tip of the weapon is not on fire and in third person the flame appears above the player to the right side, nothing major, amazing creation <3 scripted weaponry with no custom content is just amazing, reworking the turret to use default game props would be also great, would be a great re-imagination of the original turret script mod but with more utility and could be used on local servers open to players with no error models
