i can confirm to say that this does indeed work for 1.6 they did it in my gravship's kitchen.

Thanks for this mod! I love VFE empires but the room sizes take up so much space, now I don't have to adhere to all their stupid rules.

If the version difference warning bothers you just edit the about.xml to change the version number all that an update to 1.5 would be is changing said version number

It's works on 1.5 as stated in my previous comment it's a simple xml patch

been searching for the past 20minutes for a mod that does this. gave up, figured to add some more xenotypes. looked for VFE. boom the mod ive been looking for. damn this searchengine.
