Updated to 1.18, no changes (except a small bugfix for characters with equal succession)

Great mod with very well written text. For those having issues with the decision not popping up, make sure the mod is high on the load order, should fix things (as is said in the description)
KeizerHarm  [author] 8 Oct @ 3:15am
Updated; fixed a few small loc bugs along the way.
KeizerHarm  [author] 8 Oct @ 2:42am
@NOBERZ in debug mode, check for the variable alin_infertile. If it's true, the character is infertile, otherwise they're fertile
NOBERZ 26 Sep @ 8:20am
Can i know if my character is infertile by checking cheat menu
Muse 14 Jun @ 3:04am
I don't know how genetically accurate it is, but I an option for this mod where inbreeding make infertility more likely would be neat
KeizerHarm  [author] 3 Apr @ 11:30am
@finallyciv you mean the decision to acquire an heir wasn't available for you? If so then it sounds like a bug; I think I'm currently checking for other relatives who are of your dynasty, not whether your first-in-line is going to end your dynasty. In other words... have you tried assassinating your sister?
finallyciv 3 Apr @ 10:02am
I was suspected of being infertile but had no chance of producing an heir. Was it because I had an old sister who could have inherited the title, but who was married patrilineally (and so my line ended)?

@KeizerHarm
yep, but your mod easy compatible with other mods, Dark Age more challenging and less compatible
KeizerHarm  [author] 19 Mar @ 2:44am
@牛奶大魔王 Yes. If I add more lines I will announce it (and first add English to other languages), but I don't plan on updating this more. I had plans but then I found out that Dark Age, a more popular mod, has the exact same mechanic.
牛奶大魔王 18 Mar @ 6:18pm
@KeizerHarm
but if add new loc, we need time to translate it
KeizerHarm  [author] 18 Mar @ 2:12pm
@牛奶大魔王 thank you so much! I will add that to the description. I would also like to directly include those translated files in my mod if you permit me :)
牛奶大魔王 18 Mar @ 2:05am

I think a good addition for this would when playing as a female ruler your husband happens to be infertie and if you still love him you talk to him about version of medieval surrogacy where they find another man to be the father so that if your a female you aren't soft locked into divorce or adoption
KeizerHarm  [author] 1 Jan @ 4:09am
@ynnead to be honest I don't know
Innead 31 Dec, 2024 @ 10:49pm
Does this work well with the Dark Age mod?
KeizerHarm  [author] 20 Nov, 2024 @ 12:17am
@Don't Call Me Steve It's a decision but when it is available depends on your game rule settings. It tends to be when your dynasty is at risk of coming at an end, not just when you yourself are infertile.
Phat Paulie 19 Nov, 2024 @ 8:00pm
cant seem to find how to acquire an heir. Is it under activities?
KeizerHarm  [author] 10 Nov, 2024 @ 9:17am
Updated to 1.14
finallyciv 5 Oct, 2024 @ 9:48am
Thanks! I made some minor improvements: https://pastebin.com/LJ6VC4Fm
KeizerHarm  [author] 2 Oct, 2024 @ 12:56pm
The mod has been updated to 1.13 (no functional changes otherwise) and I have added @finallyciv's German localisation!
Huangdi 20 Sep, 2024 @ 5:45pm
So I am playing in my playthrough and I did fake a pregnancy, my issue is the heir died (womp womp). So can I do another fake pregnancy or is the dynasty doomed?
finallyciv 27 Aug, 2024 @ 1:37pm
I updated the German localization a bit: https://pastebin.com/Hmjv62HU
KeizerHarm  [author] 25 Aug, 2024 @ 3:29am
@finallyciv Very interested! I would like to add it to the mod and credit you!
finallyciv 25 Aug, 2024 @ 3:02am
If you are interested, I would like to add a high-quality German localization.

No issues here with Love, Marriage, Family and this mod
Korea 8 Jun, 2024 @ 4:39pm
I have the same issue as @HeirandtheSpare. It seems like the infertility aspect might still be working, but the trait itself isn't showing. Had to add a cheat menu to force a pregnancy to keep a run going; I did a Grand Wedding for my heir and their marriage didn't have a single pregnancy and I have no options as them to adopt or fake an heir with this mod ...
KeizerHarm  [author] 30 Mar, 2024 @ 1:23am
@HeirandtheSpare When I released it, back in January. But if it is a recent change then worth investigating. Thanks for the report
HeirandtheSpare 29 Mar, 2024 @ 5:53pm
@KeizerHarm when did you test it? Since he changed the way fertility works it didn't seem compatible because I would have women get pregnant and then almost immediately lose their babies. This happened to at least 10 women, mostly courtiers. So I'm guessing it conflicted, but of course it's possible it was something else. For fertility there are several different game rules with his mod that affect fertility.
KeizerHarm  [author] 29 Mar, 2024 @ 10:34am
@HeirandtheSpare Isn't it? We don't edit the same files, in fact I have tested this combo before.
HeirandtheSpare 29 Mar, 2024 @ 9:05am
Looks like this isn't compatible with Love, Marriage, Family. Too bad!
KeizerHarm  [author] 29 Mar, 2024 @ 6:34am
Fixed it. Also fixed some triggers in the heir acquisition decision.
KeizerHarm  [author] 29 Mar, 2024 @ 2:46am
@hwro Oof, I see the issue. Will correct it asap. Thanks for notifying!
hwro 28 Mar, 2024 @ 6:26pm
The mod is great, but it somehow causes me to always be disqualified for tournaments...
hamletsdead 18 Mar, 2024 @ 12:40pm
Thanks mucho for the mod, great addition to the game! 1 in 20 people of childbearing age being infertile seemed crazy high to me until I looked up the real life figures. Accoridng to WHO, about 17.5% of the global adult population – roughly1 in 6– will experience infertility at some point in their lifetime.
KeizerHarm  [author] 11 Mar, 2024 @ 12:23pm
@iyasajaa157 Yes, to the best of my knowledge.
iyasajaa157 10 Mar, 2024 @ 9:14pm
Is this compatible with love marriage family?
KeizerHarm  [author] 10 Mar, 2024 @ 3:05pm
@niardra I understand. The method as I have it now frames this as a negotiation between ruler and vassal over adopting their child, I would need to rewrite a lot to make this about adoption in general. So if I do something like that it would be as part of a new feature; opening this method up will make the text all wrong.
KeizerHarm  [author] 10 Mar, 2024 @ 3:02pm
Updated to 1.12.*. Added a game rule to make the Heir Acquisition more available if so desired (still only for players and only if one believes oneself infertile).
niardra 9 Mar, 2024 @ 5:04pm
Right now I believe you can only adopt a child from your immediate vassals. I'd like the option to be able to adopt anyone from your extended family as your heir.
KeizerHarm  [author] 9 Mar, 2024 @ 9:37am
@niardra Sorry but what do you mean with opening the adopt option to extended family members? That you're able to adopt them?
niardra 4 Mar, 2024 @ 1:15pm
Request to open up the adopt option to any extended family member.
I just had back to back playthroughs where my first custom created character was infertile and then another where it was my spouse. That was the most fun I've had in a while.
Paulinchen 25 Feb, 2024 @ 6:57am
I love this mod, thank you for your hard work!
KeizerHarm  [author] 17 Feb, 2024 @ 3:01pm
@rorywory that shouldn't matter. You should get the decision if you think you are infertile, and there is no player heir of your dynasty.
rorywory 17 Feb, 2024 @ 2:47pm
i dont see the option to adopt. is this happening because i placed the mod too low?
KeizerHarm  [author] 31 Jan, 2024 @ 6:19am
@rorywory It is now, with default infertility rate of 5%.
Willelmus 31 Jan, 2024 @ 1:52am
These are the kinds of mods the game needs. Character conflict rooted in historicity.
rorywory 30 Jan, 2024 @ 4:19pm
is this compatible with existing save files?
HeirandtheSpare 16 Jan, 2024 @ 6:54pm
"Congenital traits aren't considered except but, sometimes, a cleft lip baby is the only one available, or you may have to settle for the wrong gender, etc. Each of the acquisition methods has various outcomes." Oh, that sounds like so much fun! I'm also sad now that both my wife and my ruler are absurdly fertile. Here's hoping that one of our kids is not!
KeizerHarm  [author] 16 Jan, 2024 @ 2:57pm
@WrathofAchilles if you utterly mess up the secrecy, the child gets Disputed Heritage trait and you lose dynasty prestige. If you only mess it up a bit then the costs are less; only the best outcome has no drawbacks. Congenital traits aren't considered except but, sometimes, a cleft lip baby is the only one available, or you may have to settle for the wrong gender, etc. Each of the acquisition methods has various outcomes.
