does anyone have the raw SE_Astronaut XML with default values?
mwallen09 18 Jan, 2019 @ 4:47pm
I was hoping I could convince you to update this tutorial? I've loved your suits. I was introduced to S.E. less than a year ago, since then I've put 560+ hours into the game. Currently I am watching Arron and your's Survival RP ( Currently on Season 4) I'm hoping to learn to create my own skins. but I've never made a mod before so this tutorial would grealty help. :)

Hello, anyone knows if there is a skin/suit that would be for staying inside the ship, meaning no helmet and no jetpack. The skin should also look thin and be kind of a uniform more than a space suit. Does this exist? Regards to all engineers!
Volcanodog12 15 Jul, 2015 @ 10:34pm
Can you update this.
Grubb 5 May, 2015 @ 4:13am
@Lynsuri... You know that star trek had a team of scientists working for the production studio to help make the sci-fi aspect of star trek that little bit more realistic. Also on the matter of space suits every indivudual who can claim the name of space traveler had a suit built for them by NASA
one suit one individual.. That said i belive the EVA suits that are provided on the ISS are a universal fit.

@EctoSage I'm having trouble rebuilding my models for the new skeleton. Could you update this with the .fbx and .xml you are using? Thanks!
True Gangrel 13 Apr, 2015 @ 1:40am
is this outdated?

Sage, would it be possible for you to provide a simple modified character that you've done in the past? I like the nametags you did for your survival series. I'd more specifically be interested in their exact placement in the PSD. I assume for different textures you do a semi-opaque overlay on the main body diffuse layer

I spent a decent amount of time thinking about the argument that's been going on in these here comments when it comes to people wanting female characters made. Here's the tl;dr version: It's all a matter of persepective. If you don't like the idea, don't download the skin. Simple as that.

Now the long version. Let's start by asking a few logical questions in favor of such things, shall we?

If you decided to start a new game in Mass Effect as a fem-Shep, would that take away from the immersion at all? What about Star Trek Online? Star Wars: The Old Republic?
Vertria 22 Oct, 2014 @ 12:28pm
That's just sci-fi game examples, too. What about Skyrim? The Saints Row series? Diablo 3? Torchlight (TL2)? Fable 2/3? The more recent Resident Evil games?

As I said, it's a matter of perspective. Personally, I see nothing wrong with female models. I am one, but that's not the reason behind it. It doesn't strike me as strange for a guy to play female characters, and I've heard all manner of reasons behind it. The most popular one I get is, "I'd rather stare at girl ass than guy ass", which that I'll admit IS kinda creepy, but none the less. I'm all for everybody having their own opinion, having the freedom to do what they want to in order to enjoy their time.
Vertria 22 Oct, 2014 @ 12:28pm
However, using the term "realism" and its like to describe any part of a sci-fi... well, anything, is kind of dumb. I mean, yes, you can have some manner of realism I suppose, but it needs explanation. As in, why is it "realistic"? Even when it comes to something that has technical manuals and such in Star Trek, that doesn't make it ANY more "realistic". It's a possibility for future technology, but right now, it doesn't exist. The creators simply did the best they could to describe how starships work the way they do.

Speaking of Star Trek, let's stop and take a look at their environmental suits. Star Trek Voyager, season 4, episode 24 called "Demon". Seven of Nine is seen at one point in the episode as wearing one that's obviously fitted to provide more comfort for a woman. So if it can be done in Star Trek AND not look out of place, who's to say that the same won't be done in the real-life future?
Vertria 22 Oct, 2014 @ 12:28pm
Just because space suits today are, more or less, "one size fits all" does not mean that in the future this will be the norm. Personally, I'd MUCH rather wear something that is both protective AND comfortable. Yes, that would mean tailoring each suit to fit each astronaut, but don't they do that anyway? I don't know, I don't work for NASA or know anybody who does, but that's not the point. If I had to work in an outfit that kept my chest pressed in constantly, I'd probably have my productivity cut in more than half due to having to constantly take "breathing breaks". Guys may not know this (or care) but pressing "the girls" tightly can greatly affect breathing.

For those of you who read this whole thing, kudos. If you didn't, well... At least the tl;dr version is at the top.

Hey Sage when you get the chance could you please message me because i would like to make you a offer about making a Custom character for myself if that's ok thanks
iamlegian 6 Oct, 2014 @ 11:14pm
Anyone else having their model running around with broken wrists? As in... hand animation glitches galore?
Nefilol Seflll 27 Sep, 2014 @ 4:37pm
So,i decide to randomly come back to this page, and find people having an argument over...space suites,in a video game

I now remember why i don't read comments
Grovesy 12 Sep, 2014 @ 3:07am
Maybe one of the requirements to be a female astronaut is have a flat chest so they can comfortably wear a space suit?
LuddWillsIt 11 Sep, 2014 @ 5:52pm
The model is unisex you fucking idiots. You can't tell someones gender through all that padding and a helmet. Keen House are going for a realise not some fucking Anime basement dwelling horseshit.
Didact7343 9 Sep, 2014 @ 2:06pm
To back up wizard_boy82, did Sandra Bullock look any different from George Clooney from outside their space suites in the film Gravity? Nope. Its a giant all encompassing suit. The suit itself is a hard piece around the chest and waist, the rest is layers thick of insulating cloth, probably kevlar (Against micro asteroids) and some other stuff. The gloves on a real space suit have the stiffness of welding gloves and the thickness of winter gloves. Like really thick heavy duty sub-zero winter gloves.

All in all, making a female model space suit strips the game of its realism which makes it that much less enjoyable.
Falcon1882 9 Sep, 2014 @ 1:26pm
ok people stop asking for a female skin the space suit is both male and female because the truth is the suit is big and chances are your boobs are not going to be so big they cant fit in so plz stop...now im not saying that it whould be bad too have a female skin because some girls and some STRAGE GUYS like to have it but in all reality there is no male skin its just a space suit
Facara 9 Sep, 2014 @ 8:04am
Please make a female model!
SpectralDeviant 9 Sep, 2014 @ 3:10am
Awesome!
ChaoSquid (quickliem böi) 8 Sep, 2014 @ 7:09pm
Do you take requests? If you do, could you make a Samus skin with a model (No Arm cannon of course)? I know you have much better things to do, and I could do it myself, but I don't have Photoshop and I'm unable to afford it. Plus I'm downright awful at making models, anyways.
Shepard (KeGGeR) 7 Sep, 2014 @ 9:14pm
Sage, this is a very well explained tutorial. I already has a general idea, of what to do before, but this helped me connect the rest of the dots. Thank you very much!
Tufst1.1 6 Sep, 2014 @ 4:54pm
Thank ya a lot lad. I had done a good amount of textures for custom skins but never got them set up correctly. I'll try this out tomorrow, and hopefully everthing will go well. :D Thanks a lot again lad!
