Even with the team color, I just think this idea is a dud. The colors don't work together with a pattern like this

As for the gold bit being too bright, I think the war paint previewer just has insanely harsh lighting, it looks alright in-game. Might still play around with it a bit more though...

There is also a non-team coloured version available! That one's actually the "original", it has more previews and such, this was just a quick variant made because people asked for it.

In regards to color, I wonder if the yellow’s saturation or the reflectivity should be toned down. I also request seeing lower grade wears when you have the time to spare.
