The only thing preventing it at the moment is a flaw in the API - you can only ADD images to a screen, not remove them again after. I have the same problem with my red alert system; I wanted it to revert to a safe image once turned off.
Sure Keen will fix it sooner or later, a very fundamental oversight currently.
Hmmm, just thought of something. I should maybe play with updating status' on LCD panels.
Very itneresting lookign mod too - going to give that one a try tomorrow :D
4) To get a good looking image, the ships actually have to be at all kinds of odd angles which make no sense when viewed from angles other than your chosen one. Having everything 'inline' actually makes for a very poor screenshot. Place each ship as needed individually and always do what looks good from your chosen spot.
1) To make a consistent screenshot which can be added to in the future, choose a location and place a platform with gravity exactly under your feet. You can return to the marked block and stand in the dead center of it at any time to re-take the image.
2) Have a camera drone at the same spot which you can remote control to see how the image looks if you're down amongst the ships.
Large Thruster, Large Ship: 1,200,000 N
Small Thruster, Large Ship: 100,440 N
Large Thruster, Small Ship: 145,500 N
Small Thruster, Small Ship: 12,110 N
Add up the total value in N (Newtons) of your forward propulsion thrusters and divide it by the mass of the ship in KG and this will give you the m/s acceleration value.
105m/s is maximum for ships so 105 divided by your acceleration value will give you the time to reach maximum speed in seconds.
When I build ships, as insane as this may sound, I try to design weaknesses as well as strengths. I could easily build a borg cube with a ton of weapons, unbreakable armour and plenty of power, but where's the fun in that! Each ships should have features which encourage its use in a certain fashion... with regards to ammo a lower number of containers suggests a short range ship designed to operate within supply lines... a very well stocked ship would be indicative of a long range, self reliant ship.
With regards to the Onager, yes my initial intent was to have it towed in it's closed formation and then deployed where it's needed. I meant to build a small tug but I'd actually klind of forgotten! I may try and do so shortly :)
Currently have a battleship (25,000 t) about 80% complete which has a hanger for a single squadron (5) of small fighters. Hoping to make a cruiser-sized carrier in the not too distant future as well though (will aim for 2 squads).
