Hey I noticed the German spear warband is changed to not be a phalanx? I think this is a serious issue as it completely destroys the balance. the germans do not have a realiable hold the line unit.

this mod when i enabled it when im loading into a battle it takes like 10 minutes and even crashes

Good day! I wanted to tell you that your mod is still relevant. The RIS team has been in a stupor for almost a year now, and is moving very slowly. I think that your mod will be relevant, even if they completely finish their mod, because not everyone needs such a detailed mod, someone will be satisfied with an expanded map and new units. Maybe you can continue and make units, for example, from those nations that RIS will probably only reach in 2 years. For example, the Britons, Scythians or Spain?

Love the mod, noticed a problem though, for whatever reason the German spearman have been changed from a phalanx unit into a normal spearman unit. Was this intentional?

It would be cool if you could remove the blue and black paint from the Gallic and other barbarians except for the Britons and perhaps the night raiders. Also, it would be nice to see some tunics mixed in and so forth. Otherwise, it all looks great.

This mod is perfect! I've never seen such an incredible and vanilla mod, and it fixes what bothered me most about the original Rome: the blue, green and purple Romans (I think the red ones are fine, but your skins portray the Romans in a much more historical way)

The problem with updating this mod is that it would probably take just one update from the RIS mod to make it all completely superfluous. I mean, I've learned A LOT about modding since I made this mod and the BI version, and an update would probably be night and day in terms of quality - but still nowhere close to RIS. It's not just RIS, either, because I'm sure there are other very talented mod teams lurking out there ready to release something special for this game, which includes unit variation. I don't know, I have to think on it. If I did make changes it would primarily involve porting over various models from Rome 2 like shields, weapons, helmets and armour and basically make hybrid units using both RR assets and those from Rome 2. I already know how to do all of this so it wouldn't be an issue on that front. The issue is time spent, and if it is worth it in the end. That's the dilemma.

@Dux I appreciate all the work you've put into this mod because the final result is damn good! This is what I was looking for. I hope you will find the time to update it as there is always room for improvements. Also I am curious what changes would you bring us.

@DexOrion53 I've just uploaded a simple add-on to this mod which now includes officers and standard bearers to most units in the game. It should be visible on the workshop within the hour. As for having a more sophisticated mod with officers including variation - I might just do that. Reviewing this mod while I was adding officers made me realise I want to make some upgrades. I can't promise anything, though. It all depends if I can find the time.

@Dux I hope one day you can get this mod to work alongside the officers mod since that would complete it to have every unit have both complete variation and a officer of their own, maybe even with Variation as well.

Fantastic mod, can't play vanilla without it. Have discovered a small bug however, German warband has phalanx disabled, which I believe is a feature from your other mod.

@Dux Changing the Unit Color Scheme to realistic seems to have fixed the issue, at least in custom battles, I don't really want to test more now, as it's late. If I don't post anymore, then it's all working great and I really enjoy the mod. Happy new year.

@Pumciusz I haven't been able to reproduce that bug while testing. I'm on 1080p myself with a fairly old monitor, as well as ultra settings on units, but I can't say I've seen any flickering.

I've just released the final update of the mod; try it and see if it's fixed the problem. If it hasn't - I don't know what might be causing it.

There's flickering on units(greek and macedonian) in custom battles while moving the camera. Haven't checked in campaign as mod didn't apply on already created one Works in campaign, but still flickers. 1440p, ultra/high settings with vsync off. I had mods that could do stuff in battles, but I disabled them and it still was a thing. 6750xt with newest drives, and in campaign without the mod it doesn't happen.
But they do look great in stills.

Hey, so you're confident this is the final update? I plan on doing a big change to the export_descr_unit file, and upping defence and morale across the board to make battles longer and more tactical, but don't really want to go to all that effort just for an update to break it. Cheers, and great work on the units. Vanilla friendly while solving the clone army issue.

Okay, the update is out and this will be my final substantial update for this mod, I think. Any update from now on will be bug fixes - if there are any to be fixed. I never intended this mod to be anything other than a distraction until more serious mods come out or RIS reaches a more complete state.

To the dev of the mod, i say, thank you. I was very dissapointed when the remaster came out, and all the troops looked like clones, save for the bodies and heads. I was really hoping that they would've chnaged that, but now you have fixed that blatant issue. Thank you :steamthumbsup:

I don't really mind others using my mod as long as it is credited. Although I should point out that I'm currently working on a sizable update that includes model variation within the same unit and some other things.

Would you allow other modders to use your work from this mod in their mod(s)?
(I.e. include your Unit Texture Variations into their mods?)

First I would have to get permission from the mod author and then start modding every individual new unit in the same way I've done before to make it seamless. However, it would only impact the Danymok's base mod. None of the extra mods or add-ons for Danymok's Expanded Rosters would be compatible because my mod and Danymok's have radically different text files.

@Cell TV There is a way to incorporate different kinds of models in the same unit group, which I only just learned. That means, theoretically, that one could use the different styles of hoplite helmets already available in the game for one hoplite unit. I'm still bit of a noob when it comes to modding, however. This is the first mod that I've made - for any game - so I'm still very much in the learning stage.
