chess is unusual, it just dont look interesting enough

Personally don't like the idea either. It's just flat images of a board game slapped on top of the mercenaries' heads, which doesn't feel tonally appropriate at all. Unusual effects are never really tonally appropriate, but you should at least go for something that would actually look like something special or powerful such as fire or an aura or some ghosts rather than a board game.

the board being faded is my biggest gripe, it just makes it look weird, otherwise i think this is a fun idea that kind of fits the original 3 generations of unusuals.

i think the effect itself is pretty novel, i would be great paired with the chess hat, but those arent unboxable

regardless of the effect, you might want to check if the TF2 font has a character for ß, otherwise the name will have to be changed

I think you can do much better with the chess things, try expanding the concept to something else than the literal chess game happening, very cool ideas tho!

Same thoughts here, the idea is cool but it doesn't look very good. I couldn't see this as an unusual many people would want.
