I have the problem that i can not pay for the 1500ft of wood despite having more than enough money. Also the option to buy wood from the lumbermill is only once active per game start. Any idea how i can fix this?

Forgot to add I have no other mods affecting sisterhood, I do have the unofficial patch and cutting room floor but no others I can think of that would affect this.

Broken for me on original skyrim w/ all dlc's. As soon as I get to escort Smack to the Jarl i can't initiate dialoge between them. The jarl gets up and starts walking around and has no new dialogue options. I can't progress past that point.

the news is that the old mods for Skyrim 1.9 is that they won't work for Skyrim Special edition. However, there will be an option for converting mods over to work on the new setup. I know the nexus has been working on getting it started.
I personally, however, as much fun as the special edition would be, know that I can't get it to work on my setup. So until/unless I can get a new rig, I'll be on the Skyrim 1.9. You haven't lost a follower yet s7o!

@ chrisjrogers, i still don't have any reliable info on the "legendary" (or whatever that was) edition of skyrim actually (didn't look very hard either though :-), so we'll yet have to see about that

thing is that meanwhile (fo4) the scripting engine is a new version, so if they update the new skyrim edition with the new scripting engine, no old mods might properly run at all (which again makes it rather doubtable they'd do that, since that'd affect all of beth's own scripts just the same)

Thanks i know takes time and with the legacy version coming out would it be worth it with any older mods? Can't wait to see, bet was a cracking mod though cheers!

...i'll check through this (yet another time) when i get to it (not modding skyrim anymore actually, moved on to fo4), i don't expect too much from it though, dissected that whole part for a zillion times already (iirc there's no more condition to this anymore (like they needed to be in the jarl's place in an earlier version etc) except that the guy has to be the friggin' jarl :-)

Same problem as Suzy Don't work. Bethesda should have made a quest to rebiuld Winterhold, bet its great mod if you can get it to work. Want to try moding myself but don't have a clue how to use the construction kit. Disablled Skullmonkeys college mod to see if it would work no joy.

@ suzyohmmaker: sry for later answer, heard about that one a couple times and did all kinds of stuff to fix it, couldn't find or think of _anything_ else anymore - hence i'm pretty sure that it's a mod conflict meanwhile, if you use some "winterhold xlarge" type mod, they likely just don't go together

When I take Smack to the Jarl and talk to him. It gets to "he's a Smith..." and the jarl just walks away and nothing happens. Is this a bug or is there something I'm missing?

@ genocideEndGame: does the quest objective say "...acquire nails" or "...deliver nails"?

(if it's "acquire" although you have the nails, you might have run into a known issue that can occur in a script that runs when you add the nails on heavily modded games (final fix pending, previous approaches did improve it some, but not entirely clear it out) - if it's that, the easiest version would be i'd tell you how to get past this by console (quest's pretty much complete after that), there's other options too, but they're more complicated :-)

Ok, I will edit my previous comments. It is getting a rank up from me, as it is now half working. It has accepted and delivered thewood finally. However, I have 500 nails in my inventory, and it will not acknowledge them to give to smack. Suggestions?

I wasn't in winterhold the second time I tried it. But, if that's the issue, I'll give it another go.

@ genocideEndGame: you'll have to be OUT of winterhold, it will NEVER happen if you wait there. it _says_so_ in the release notes ("out of town"!!), and c'mon, i really kept that short, or not? :-)

and reinstalling won't work on the same save. there _is_no_ uninstalling mods with running scripts, they _stay_in_your_save_. it says so in every faq there ever is ------ ah yes i forget...

I downloaded this hoping to help winterhold out, we all know it needs it, howeever, I have spent 72 IN GAME days waiting for lumber to arrive. I even went so far as to order the 1500y of lumber from EVERY woodmill that could supply it. and nothing. It stays at "I'll have your materials soon. If this can be fixed so that the quest stages and requirements were smoother, I would rank up and reinstall. But until then, rank down and uninstall.

I can't even progress further than speaking to the jarl. I get to the point where I can say "He's a smith..." Then the jarl exits the conversation and constantly stands with his mouth open like a half wit... Please fix this!

I just tried it. When I tried talking to the Jarl that option wasn't available. So I put in the code you listed before and it worked wonderful. Thanks :D

@ pennie2007: iirc they need to be in the jarl's house for this, but i remember similar issues having been reported, gonna check into this again...

...and just saw i got a newer version than the released one ready anyway, gonna update in a couple minutes (fixes quite a couple of things, can't totally remember what exactly though, been busy playing fallout meanwhile :-)

also, i can't tell if all "super-winterhold" type mods are compatible with this, esp. such that make changes to the existing jarls or the jarl's mansion or rename winterhold exterior cells.

...if all else fails anyway, typing "setstage s7oSTS01questQ01smackTheSmith 200" should get you past this

pls let me know if the update (in ~3 min) fixes your issue anyway

I just talked to Smack and took him to the Jarl. I talk to the Jarl and when it gets to he is a smith nothing happens. Just ends the conversation. How do I get past this step?

@ hammerfest451: thx, that'd be extremely helpful. been chasing this issue for ages now, but none of my previous measures seems to actually catch it. my current workin hypothesis is stack dumps (being my only explanation left), which would fit your scripts not firing, but without a look in an affected game's log, that's all just guessing more or less (whatever _actual_ issues i found is all long fixed anyhow)

not a bit. my game has been lagging some. maybe a few problems with the scripts firing for several mods. i checked for a script log and found that my papyrus files had been turned off for logging so i turned it back on. hopefully that'll help to catch future problems. i'm going to revamp my mod list and probably start a new character. if it happens again, i'll be sure to let you know. and hopefully i can find the script error for it too (if one exists).

@ hammerfest: this should actually start a little dialogue between smack and the jarl (the jarl'd say "really now?" and smack start boasting next), you didn't get any of that?

@ hammerfest451: if you (or anybody else who got this issue) happen to have a script log of that game, it'd be extremely helpful if you'd check if a search for "s7osts01" brings up anything.
(and there's another update coming up soon anyway, but not sure if that'll fix this, since i couldn't yet really find out what causes it in the first place)
...anyway, even if the jarl didn't talk you up at that point (you DID get the "he's a smith..." dialogue scene, right?), you should've been able to talk to him yourself to proceed

@s7o: hey mate just a heads up i had this problem too. went through all of the opening dialogue options, introduced smack, and then they just stood there. left and reentered. saved and reloaded. no change in anything. don't know what the problem with the trigger is, just thought you might want to know.

oh yeah, i just typed in the codes to get to the next stage. everything is working now. there was just that problem at the start of the quest.

to check if quest (and controller quest) are up and running and at the right stage (quest only):
"sqv s7oSTS01questSmackTheSmith" and
"sqv s7oSTS01questSmackMaster"

edit: ...ah yes and you'd get 5000 gold from the jarl to buy the materials needed to restore the smithy. feel free to "Player.AddItem f 5000" to compensate for this ,-)

@ gynter: that's bad, largely reduces odds i can fix that for your current game even if i find anything that looks like it needs updating about that part -
gotta see what i can do anyway though since i'll be resripting that nails-counting part (not that i saw anything wrong with it, but just in case, since issues have repeatedly been reported with this (many due to "reinstallation" though))
for now, best i could do for your current game would be tell you how to try to proceed the quest by console, let me know if you want so & i'll look up the according stage etc

i did uninstal and reinstal it on the same save but i did it beacuse it dident work before i did it

@ gynter: well with both smack and the jarl near, i wouldn't see why this shouldn't work

except if you "uninstalled" and reinstalled the mod on the same save, which can cause this (the dialogue is set to run once only, if it already did in your game, it won't again) as well as that notorious issue with the crafted nails not counted (which likely has another cause too though) - if so, pls let me know so i don't have to go bug hunting where there are none, else this'll have to go to my fix list

@ gynter: odd. don't you just get the dialogue about the smith, or can't you talk to the jarl at all? tried exiting and re-entering the jarl's house to see if that does anything? maybe clicking the jarl in console and typing "resetdialogueflags" might also help. (edit: you could also try "getinscene", if it says 1, he _is_ in another scene). other than that, no real clue what's actually wrong there currently, just guessing - if none of this helps, i'll have to put it on my fix list.

@ gynter: both the jarl and smack need to be in the jarl's house (and the jarl has a couple of dialogue scenes with his housecarl, during these you also won't get the dialogue)

@ chiricahua: kind of figured out an alternative scripting approach for that whole part, gonna update asap (& sure hope then it'll finally be done with that die hard b*** of an issue...)

You know what is funny s7o? I restarted my whole game and I had the exact same issue with Smack the Smith! lol. It was one of the first mods I used before going very far in the game. I just used console commands to skip the stage. Now Smack is busy working at Winterhold. Even though he doesn't know what a nail looks like. :)

@ rcbecker1: try dropping the nails (or moving them to another container) and picking them up again.

if this doesn't help: did you "uninstall" and reinstall the mod on the same save game? this usually causes this issue (and others), also if you frequently "uninstalled" and reinstalled other mods, this is prone to cause stack overflows from script remainders from removed mods in your save (for ALL mods, not only this one) - see previous comments (also on how to check your save yourself)

other than this, i've checked through the mod about a thousand times and don't see anything left in there hat could potentially cause stg like this that i haven't cleared out already, so good old *save corrupted by "uninstalling" mods* would be my best bet here for now...
