Making an updated version of this for 1.8.
Aaronthelemon 18 Jul, 2024 @ 8:18am
Is this still in development or has Maeve moved on?
ChaseAce 5 Feb, 2024 @ 12:39am
Hey, as the guy from the other, "What if America was a big no-no," I'm wondering about how development is going. I'd just like to check in.

Fort_Master, the mod might not be properly updated yet. I haven't heard anything on an update.
Fort_master 28 Dec, 2023 @ 1:19am
Love the mod, but there's a bug were all the formable nations are gone? I wanted to play as upper Canada, but the formable nations menu was empty.
Solar-Skies 30 Nov, 2023 @ 5:10am
Any update on the mod update? Looks interesting.

Can't wait ! :)

Ever since I've seen this mod I've been dying to play it! lol
maeve  [author] 20 Nov, 2023 @ 2:45am
Will get around to fixing this soon!
QueenThicctoria 16 Nov, 2023 @ 10:30am
Same issue as Rick Locker
Rick Locker 16 Nov, 2023 @ 12:28am
Sad to say it doesn't work with the 1.5 proper. Crashes when I try and go to the map to start playing.

I really like the mod, but i found a bug that makes me sad. I re-centralized the US and successfully banned slavery through law enactments. However, the slavery banned journal entry has had the conditions of being completed for about 2-3 years and it still hasn't fired. :(

florida should be spanish

I can see that there is some discussion about the plausibility of this and I thought I would throw my thoughts in as a political scientist who had to study us history. There was some question if the vp should become president if the president died when the constitution was first ratified. This is in the constitution now, but this wasn't put in the constitution until 1932. It was an open constitutional question, however the common practice was that vp would become president. Saying all of this, in the first instance of a president dying (especially in a politically contentious time like the early 19th century was for america with Jackson dems v non jackson dems) it is very plausible that rival political forces would try to weaken the federal government by weaking the legitimacy of the new president. This is a great idea for a scenario

Quick clarity re: the Trail of Tears given I didn't elaborate earlier and the Reddit post I made has some questions, in this mod it still happens because the states allow federal troops in for that purpose. Likewise if the Indian Territory manages to gain independence, its name will change to Sequoyah. I don't know why that isn't the case in the screenshots i've provided, but I've confirmed in testing that is the case. The Indian Territory as represented in vanilla Victoria 3 is a bit contrived and ahistorical to how it actually worked IRL, so I may make adjustments in the future to have the individual territory of each (major) tribe and have events specific to those tribes. May even make a mod for vanilla that does the same thing.

Beta 1.5.3 is out, so far in the limited testing I've been able to do there are no known compatibility issues. Please let me know however if there are and apologies for any inconvenience to your gameplay.
maeve  [author] 15 Oct, 2023 @ 8:14am
@伊 Sure! Thanks for making it and for anyone else who wants to make language localizations I'll add them.
伊恩 15 Oct, 2023 @ 3:41am
Excellent mod. Here is my Chinese localization. https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3051318842
Can you add it to the introduction?
based gaming 14 Oct, 2023 @ 3:55pm
I was expecting this to just be "states are independent now have fun" but seeing this mod has actual in depth lore makes me quite pleased, I'll be sure to give it a try

Ok. Alternate history by definition doesn't follow history. Tyler was formerly sworn in, taking the constitutional oath as president. His enemies just called him acting president, but he was a man who certainly deserved his enemies. I can't imagine John C. Calhoun failing to assert himself in any situation, but I can see him having a devious motive in your scenario. Calhoun wanted to weaken federal power as much as possible, and having it lead by an "acting " president would contribute to that - then and whenever the situation reoccurred..

maeve  [author] 14 Oct, 2023 @ 11:12am
@We're In the lore of this mod, Calhoun doesn't assert this as Tyler did. It was an open question what exactly the title of the VP was upon the death of the President. JQA for example referred to Tyler as "vice president acting as president." It was exceedingly controversial when Tyler set the precedent for what is to be done in this ambiguous situation and it would have been even more so for someone as well-known and understood as a political actor as Calhoun to do such. For that reason even if perhaps a bit contrived, he doesn't here.

@Emperor I've considered it a bit, decided against implementing it at least for now as I don't think enslaved people and even free Black Americans identified as much with their states at the time. May break it down into individual communities like the Gullah and Melungeon peoples for example.
We're Needed 13 Oct, 2023 @ 10:30am
If Jackson had died, Calhoun would have become president, not acting president. This is what occurred a few years later when William Henry Harrison died - John Tyler became president, not actin president. Under the 25th Amendment, the vice president may take over as acting president if the president is temporarily disabled. But an assassination victim is not temporarily disabled, and the 25th Amendment wasn't in effect when Jackson was in office.

BASED BIG MICHIGAN. Will you add sub-cultures to African American?
maeve  [author] 12 Oct, 2023 @ 1:41am
@Gharug Maryland was only Catholic really early on in the late 1600s, by this period it was very much Protestant. I've considered it however for Louisiana.
songchao.engineering 12 Oct, 2023 @ 1:31am
This will be true after the 2024 election.
The Notorious Garangus 11 Oct, 2023 @ 8:00pm
Shouldnt Maryland be Catholic?
Utah 11 Oct, 2023 @ 7:14pm
This is such a creative idea for a mod! Good job!
maeve  [author] 11 Oct, 2023 @ 2:46am
Minor update, just fixed some stability issues and changed Tennessee's strategic region.
maeve  [author] 10 Oct, 2023 @ 11:10pm
@Emu That's a pretty good idea, I'll push it with next update.
Emu Annihilator 10 Oct, 2023 @ 5:44pm
If there is a way to make it work for your mod, you should try to add Tennessee to the Dixie Strategic region, or rework the regions all together.
