are you doing them as pngs? I don't know if that matters or not, but it's what I've been using for a format. I only know rudimentary image editing, I've taught myself how to change colors and what-not to mess around with assets in a couple games but I'm still very clumsy at it.
There is a Wrestling Empire modding discord where I've found tutorials and examples, and I bet some of the real modders there, like Ingoh or whatever, know more about it than I do.

weird, that seems like it should be small enough. I've been using paint.net to shrink mine down to around 256 x 256 (I just set the longer side to 256 and use whatever the program wants for the rest) and that's working for me, but I think the uploader error I got on my first try said the image just needs to be less than 1mb. I honestly don't know much about working with images

workshop uploader keeps saying my preview image is too large when it's 200kbs/500x500. one must imagine Sisyphus as a wrestling empire modder.

i'll keep that noted. the wrestler i'm making is one that's already in the game but with real textures, so i figured finding a way to override the one i've fixed would save the headache for other people

I wish I knew a way to do that, there are two or three default costumes that I'd like to permanently replace. The best I've done is to increase my roster limit in the config file so I have room in the Hollywood or Legends feds to slough off all the wrestlers I don't want and to make room for all the characters people have made on the workshop.

Roster limit can be changed in this config file:
Wrestling Empire > BepInEx > config > IngoH.WrestlingEmpire.WECCL.cfg

i think i can handle the rest from here. only problem is i want to have my wrestler override an existing one and it doesn't seem anyone's done that on here yet

I learned how to upload characters in the guide that Zucchinilicious made, it has the info you seek and more:

Anyway, to answer your question all I had to do was back up my roster in the game's Universe settings. After making a backup all characters should be found inside the game folder at:
Wrestling Empire > BepInEx > plugins > 3022699985 > Export

It's important to back up your roster first or else the Export folder will be empty
