The emblem won't be in much help when you have to distinguish them from a distance.
Classes are usually recognizes by Voicelines, Design, Animations and the Weapons they use

Plus, Engi is also the shortest class in the game.

I think you need to add the class emblem to the jacket/coat. It will greatly help with class recognition.
