would it be possible to make a new effect with the horns and fire displaced onto the merc's head? with the fire being trail-affected and purple? :p (i'm still waiting for the poisoned shadows inspired effect that doesn't cost a kidney)

when an unusual effect is added into the game, it has the same chance of being rolled as any other effect. no one is being beat out

a singular unique effect has a 3x chance to be pulled over a singular variant of a 3-variant effect

Looking back on it I probably could've appreciated the increase in variation a bit more, as it's at least a step in the right direction, but it's really just upsetting to see such a good unusual effect that also falls victim to a frustrating problem that a lot of other unusuals do. Great job in taking things into the right direction is probably something I should've added on originally, but at the same time it feels like there's only additional variations between variants just because that's viewed as something innovative due to how a bunch of recolors have become the norm for unusuals at this point.

I can see that, my point is that all three are still very similar and it sucks to see that other unique unusuals can be a lot harder to come across because some creators decide to give their unusuals a bunch of variations just because they can. It's not exactly a quantity over quality situation, and I'll still vote yes and favorite this because it looks rad, but for me extra variations are still going bloat the game which already has more than enough unusuals. I can commend this one for actually giving some variation between the horns as well as colors, which is the reason why I'm complaining about the different variations because despite being more different, they're still just the same idea recycled around to get more crammed into the game.
