First would be a ranged unit that doesn't rely on magic. Such as Skeleton Archers. Just something weak, but with a high figure count to fill that gap.
Second is adding a building for mana production. With how heavy the undead are on mana, it would make sense for them to have some form of getting mana in addition to temples and nodes. Maybe something like a Graveyard that gathers mana from the (temporarily) stored dead. (If you can even add a building. I don't recall seeing any mods that do it yet.)
Lastly, let me thank you for a wonderful mod.
After several playthroughs, may I suggest some minor changes?
The mana requirement for creatures is still high. Half would be enough.
The undead ghoul skin could be used instead of the corruptor's demon skin.
As a dead priest, could the corruptor use the weakness spell as a one time ability or as a spell?
Could the Lich get the black prayer spell alongside or instead of the doombolt?
As for other suggestions:
- i am not able to add books as requirement for race
- werewolves are kinda mouted unit with high movement and first strike, but i will not update their figure count becouse of potential high damage increase due to first strike and armor piercing skills
- personally im not fond of adding shipyards as it adds a different gameplay to this race (with settlers being able to move across water and some units being able to support them) and merchant guild is not that needed while most units do not require gold as upkeep
- in general i like the feel and things are mostle well balanced.
- all necromancer units are regular units and not undead. this is my main issue, just doesnt feel right. this can probably not be fixed easily as regular units are never fantastic units.
- mana upkeep for units is too high, particularly in bigger maps / longer games.
- necromancer is more a profession and not a race so somehow you are mixing up concepts.
Suggestions:
- necromancers should require at least a few books in death magic. Otherwise you will see life magic enhanced lichs or werewolves ....
- reduce mana upkeep for all units significantly.
- werewolves need higher number per unit or better stats.
- add a good mounted unit (death knight or similar). this is definitely missing. doesnt have to be a flying unit. will also need access to stables.
- allow shipyards and subsequent buildings (merchant guild).
Many thanks for the effort, hope the feedback helps.
Thank you.
