i love the work people put in new mercs but please consider using a different AI for the voices.
she just sounds lifeless...bored.
also, unlike your screenshot, her passive trait appears not once, but three times in tactical view

After the Patch from Today there is a Bug with here Main skill Auto Repair in Tactical mode here skill get show something like 20 Times if you look in the Profile all seams ok but in Combat you get an endless line of here main Skill

Can anyone else's Carol aim four times for no reason? It seems she's the only one who does this. We're all wielding Dragonovs right now with Thermal Scope so it's not the scope.

I just want to give you a short update on the issue that you reported earlier, about the passive perk icon appearing multiple times when being on the sector map.

I did some further investigation and discovered, that the icons being added multiple times as soon as you activate some mod through the mod manager during your active client session. This operation will also cause a complete reload of all mods and therefore the passive display icon will be added multiple times. I have to do some further investigation on how to avoid this, but I can assure already, that it's only a display issue. The functionality of the passive perk itself is independent from its display and should work as intended. Nevertheless for the time being a client restart after adding new mods will fix this problem till i found a more elegant code-wise solution.

To answer the question about my image creation pipeline:
I use a stable diffusion system as a starting point to create a rough template for further work. Due the fact that stable diffusion currently tend to create a lot of artifacts, i.e. 7-Finger-Louie or broken face details - as well as the fact that the resulting images are very low resolution - i take the template and do a full high resolution paint-over myself in the second step. I use true 4k for portraits and true 8k for the body artwork. Last but not least i add in some rim lights in a seperate layer and try to get in some transparency antialiasing at the borders for a better blend with other assets ingame. All in all it takes me roundabout 10 to 14 hours for the art of a character - depending of the complexity and detail grade. @Kexin: Thanks a lot for your trust. I really appreciate it. All in all creating IMP's is a little bit easier compared to regular mercs because there is less work to do there. I already thought about creating some IMP's but decided to focus my spare time on mercs for the moment. Still have a lot of ideas here, and want to try out some different perks. Nevertheless who knows what future brings, so I don't want to exclude to add some IMP's in future as well.

@DeadBeat: Thank you very much for the feedback! Some of my mercs already include different voice responses for certain game situations with other vanilla mercs and I will definitely add in more over the time. To answer your question about the banters: Yes! It is totally possible to add in new banters and story voice lines at the current state. I already started to experiment with it and am planing to add some for each of my mercs in future updates. Will still take me some more time to prepare everything and find a good workflow for it. I really want to do things "right" here. So, I hope you stay tuned and are looking forward for future updates.

Here the explanation for the effect/issue that you encountered:
I register my custom passive combat skills to the engine by code as soon as a mod gets loaded. During a regular game session this only happens once - when the game is started.

@Thalir: I'm pretty sure, that you opened the mod-tools during the session where you experienced it, didn't you? Perhaps you just took a look at her to check how things are done or have worked on another mod yourself? Every time you are opening the mod tools and "Carol" is extracted, the mod get's loaded again for the current client session and therefore her passive get's registered again too - which than leads to a second passive shown as long as the client session persists. As far as I'm aware this is the only situation where mods will get loaded in multiple times so a regular player should never experience that during his regular client session.

If my assumption is correct, everything should be fine again as soon as you restart your client. I suggest doing this every time after you performed any more complex edits inside the Mod-Tools and want to check your final results, anyways.

man I really appreciate your work with mercs with personality. I did not expect anything more than stat based inclusion to roster, but you also worked your way out with voice-overs and responses etc. I was wondering, just put it on my ignorance, can you actually develop interactions with quest line or current AIM roster? like hector responsing fidel in some manner or mildred approaching her british counterparts with care, or mercs giving response to quest lines? it's not actually important, but i just wanted to know? :)

Thanks for your feedback, really appreciate it!

@Anderty: Currently I'm much more focused on getting things technically "right" - especially from modding and gameplay perspective. The learning curve is still steep and visual elements like models and appearances are very easy to replace at any given time. Getting things like custom perks and new gameplay mechanics "right" is much more complicated because it almost always includes some coding and therefore technical research (i.e. todays update on Jerry).

In addition we are still talking about mercs that are mostly sitting on the "recruit" level. I like the idea of keeping them a little bit simpler there to give myself more headroom when it comes to the more experienced ones I'm planing to do for the upper tiers. I hope that sheds some light on my current approach. Anyways, there will come the time for further visual upgrades in future for sure.

As difficult as it is to provide custom models in the game, it's very bland that most of the characters by you have the same type of clothing. I encourage you to experiment and see what surprises it might bring. In the case of Thompson, even if she wears the same clothes at least changing it to red or yellow would be very thematic to mechanic jumper suits and help to distinguish her looks even in this limited fashion of the game. Hope you do not overwork yourself with all the amazing stuff created by you.

@Crazyduck: Currently the mercs are not adding any new banters and story dialog reactions, yet! But I already started to work on this and am right in the process of recording the first voice-lines for it. I'm pretty sure, I will drop a first banter and story dialog update to one of my mercs in the next couple of days. Regarding your second question: Yes! Every merc already comes with individual likes, dislikes, learn to likes and learn to dislikes. Let me know if this answers your question.

@Housenflew: Setting up some handy guides for others is definitely on my list for the future. Unfortunately, this is a time consuming task and in addition I'm still learning how to do things "right" myself. When I feel more confident about the workflows, I will think about summarizing my personal experiences in a steam guide. Nevertheless, I can't make promises for the moment. Thanks for your report. I just performed various tests and verified that her passive works as intended and only appeared once during a regular client session. I can only make an assumption here but I guess, you are testing the Mod-Tools yourself, aren't you? I'm asking because this might have caused the multiple appearance of the passive combat skill icon in your client session.

Here is the reason why:
Passive combat skills are registered to the engine as soon as a mod gets loaded. Is it possible that you opened her by yourself with the Mod-Tools to look at how things are done during the same client session? This is the only case, where mods will load in multiple times and this would lead to the multiple appearance you described

If this is the case, just restart your client after you performed any edits or loads with the Mod-Tools and everything should be fine again and only be loaded once. Just let me know if I'm mistaken about my assumption so I can dig deeper.

Hello Everyone,

I just deployed the necessary update for the official Jagged Alliance Patch Version 1.1.0 for "Carol". Please make sure to update your mod to the latest version (1.04-222). You can check the current mod version you have installed in your Mod-Manager.

As far as I'm aware, this update should be fully compatible with existing saves. I just tested my own save and everything seams to work as expected. Nevertheless, if you are encountering any unexpected issue related to the merc after you updated it, just drop me a short message here and I will have a look at it. Thank you in advance!
