does this still work or is there an updated alternative?

I am so happy I found your mod. I just played a FP game with 10 AIs, and half the game ended up under the vassalship of just one empire. It was silly.... your mod looks like just the thing to prevent such nonsense from happening.

Solid mod. Might wanna try having subjects bargain for better terms upon hitting certain milestones, or for megacorps within a specific strength group to try to ask for compensation or swear fealty to another overlord, as that'd be pretty great for rp.

Thank you so much for this, been looking for a mod like this for ages. Noone should be able to just casually remove the independence from a nation half the galaxy away just because they have 3x the fleet power.

"Major Update" ... Empire Size penalites are adjusted to Vassal type. Tributaries and Subsidiaries give less empire penalty, to give them more meaning.

Small update with fine tuned parameters.

Attention: The next version will contain a new penalizing system for Vassals where Tributaries and Subsidiaries will get less Empire Size Penalty. But this will break saves, so be warned. I will upload it the upcoming days.

After more play testing I decided to drastically nerf the opinion modifier. One can still hold too much vassals and milk them. I tried a little bit and now opinion modifier is a quarter lower. This should allow to get resources from your Vassals but one can not milk them brainlessly.

More feedback is welcome! It's hard to test alone ...

Added missing localisation for Empire Size Penalty

Small update: Now each Vassal gives +2.5% Empire Size penalty. Thx to the guys from r/Stellaris for the input!

@NOEL357 I did not test it, but I think it should be. My mod just re-adjusts some defines and changes one effect on the Shared Destiny Ascension Perk and the related civics. So I see no reason why it should not work.

Hey, do you know if this mod is (not) compatable with "We Require Borders"? I don't like the vassal meta rn and would like to use your nerfs but also need borders with them, thanks.

I feel like the vassals' willingness to be vassalized kinda made federations obsolete. Vassalization also gave more benefits, weakening federations even further. Anyway, sorry for a little rant, good mod, thanks!
