It was not called "Kyvev Rus". It was "Kievan Rus".
Kyiv or whatever is what Ukranians call it in the Ukranian language . Ukranian is not the exact same thing as Russian, it is extremely similar, but like Spanish and Italian, they are different.
This is a historical accuracy Mod, and nothing else.
If Paradox actually cared about historically accuracy, the names would change depending on who holds it.
For example, if a Russian held Ruthenia, it becomes Kiev. If a Ruthenian/proto-Ukranian held Ruthenia, it becomes Ruthenia. If a Russian held Kiev, it becomes Kiev. If a Ruthenian/proto-Ukranian held Kiev, it becomes Kyiv.
