Hi there. I got next error: Errors while loading mod Vanilla Weapon Rebalance:
Code/Burstfire.lua:3 - attempt to index a nil value (field 'BurstFire')
What should I do to fix it?

Very nice. Ever thaught about balancing handguns by lowering AP? JA2 Waildfire did it that way and I liked it very much. I just made a mod Lower APs for Pistols & MPs where I do this for the vanilla guns.
Sadly both our mods are not compatible. I see you worked via scripts. I had to change the InventoryItem itself and not just >gameplay>change property>InventoryItemCompositeDef>gun>ShootAP (in the editor) bc that would make weird bugs.
I don't think there's a way our mods could become compatible for ppl who wanna have both?
If you're still there, maybe we can colaborate?

btw i play the game first time with the mod and change is very noticeable, they are no best weapon right away.

To add: my characters with AR10's have little white dots at night, showing that they're 'lit up' or in the light, unlike the people they're surrounded by or next to which are not lit up. Could it be that your mod adds a flashlight to the weapon without listing it? Also, the 'secondary' slot shows infinite ammo. I do not have a secondary slot, like a grenade launcher, equipped.

Does the AR-10 conversion mess with stealth? I have a new game where my two stealthy mercs have AR-10's, and both of them drop their stealth regularly, and it's hard to get them back into stealth as if they are carrying flares or something, a beacon. (Night or day, they can rarely hold onto their stealth, even though they are spec'ed for it.) Doesn't happen with any other weapon.

@neuromancer the game already has the .50 conversion for desert eagle..... there are limited ammo types your just going to have to pretend that its .50AE the same way you gotta pretend that all the 7.62x54r guns are using their ammo type which does not exist either.

IMO a lot of the single fire pistols are meant for short range stealth kills, typically with a silencer, so that's one approach you can take with them, buffing stealth kill chance

had to do it again today. Change out magazine to AR 15 and back to AR 10. This is okay until I run out of steel pipes to convert each time I load the game!

regarding damage problem, I modified it back to an AR 15, then back to an AR 10, and that fixed it.

M24 remains the king of the hill, even vs. the AR 10 conversion. One headshot with an M24 with the same merc will nearly always kill, but 3 hits with burst fire AR10 rarely kills - even with three hits to the head. I haven't messed with the PSG-1 because the M24 has better base stats - where it was the best rifle before I tried your mod.

Also, having a problem with my AR10. It hits but does no damage now. Was fine for a couple days of play, but now it's not doing any damage. Switched out the ammo types, but it's not the ammo, it's the rifle. Yes, running other mods, but this is the only one I know of that messes with weapon stats and AP. If I'm the only one with this issue, then my game is corrupted.

1/2 - I approve of this mod. :)

But I will say that shooting a .50 BMG pistol would break your wrist. (see below)

Not to mention that the full .50 BMG cartridge is about 5.5" long, so how you could put that in pistol grip I don't know.

There are 50 calibre pistols, but they typically are .50 Action Express (12.7 x 33mmRB) or the .50 S&W Magnum (12.7 x 41mmSR - specifically designed to be the most powerful handgun ammo in the world, and is notably not a necked rifle round). They are not using the 12.7 x 99 mm round, as that would be ridiculous. The real .50 Desert Eagle shoots the .50 AE, and the S&W Model 500 revolver uses the .50 S&W Magnum

2/2 - But... never say never. There are 2 .50 BMG pistols I am aware of: the .50 BMG Thunder and the WTS .50 BMG pistol. Both are single shot weapons, are heavy and bulky, and have massive recoil compensation to prevent the user from breaking their wrist, they are also rather odd looking, the Thunder especially. They would also be kinda pointless as there is no way the barrel is nearly long enough for the round to reach optimal muzzle velocity - as one person put it "the only reason I can see to have one is just to WOW everyone down at the range and have the biggest baddest pistol on the block."

I guess the idea in the game is to make the .50 AE Desert Eagle without introducing a specific ammo for one gun, but... as the mod dev says about the Dragonov burst fire being pure fantasy, so is using a .50 BMG round in a semi-auto or revolver.

@lifeline83 i may be able to add it as an option but its a pretty low priority as i think full damage burst and autofire completely breaks game balance(despite understanding the realism) if you have the mod editor you can probably adjust this for yourself though!

@dumpster possum. Yes, tried multiple times on different days, different mercs. If you obtain an item when your inventory is full a message pops on screen saying it was dropped. When I purchase the glock there is no message at all. just missing money and the item disappears until it is replenished again.

When I try and purchase the modified glock in Fleatown it takes the money but gives nothing. Is this bug related to your mod?

Loving the FAMAS changes. The entire rebalance does a good job of making each weapon viable in it's own way, and the burst damage makes the game more punishing and more rewarding. Any chance you'll be merging any of your other mods into this? I'm a big fan of the flash bang changes

FAMAS is now reworked again it got a range bump and now reduces the burst and autofire accuracy penalties by 50%. So instead of a 20% chance to hit penalty its only 10% now.

@Ogaburan: With relatively low ap costs in general it feels like AP cost changes feel like to huge of a boost even the famas i used an AP change on feels like it is now too efficient by comparison. If the AP system had was on a higher scale like if base AP and costs were multiplied x10 it would be more usable to tweak things. But even a +/- 1 change at the moment is often to great a swing.

i am in the process of reworking the famas to a better fix i am going to try to slightly boost the damage close to other 5.56 guns and give burst fire half the accuracy penalty.

Having messed with this a bit, the -1 AP on the FAMAS is pretty OP lol. Is there a way to make it so burst and single shot would just cost the same amount of AP on it? That could be a good middle ground of picking output over accuracy

@atlekus I like the accurate burstfire idea as an AP reduction might actually be too much of a bonus I will look into that. The run and gun is also possible and would let it keep the carbine like playstyle I can see it fulfilling good ideas!

@Rock Flag & Eagle Sorry lol. Gameplay is king and should trump realism if both can't easily be combined.

Did some quick research on bullpups. Negatives: 1. Safety with the action being so close to the face, and clearing is more difficult (perhaps more serious jamming mechanic?). 2. Stiffer trigger, and face closer to action with gas and cartridges (perhaps slightly compromising accuracy?). Positives: 1. Good ergonomics (bonus to movement - run & gun?). 2. Muzzle does not climb as much (more accurate burst fire?).

@atletikus lol that's second FA-MAS defender I am not saying the Fa-mas is a carbine i am saying the way it is implemented allows it to function similar to one as a shorter range AR. I am not happy with my current FA-MAS fix though so if you have an idea for an alternate way to balance it please let me know!

@Anexiledone glad to know there is no incompatibility with descriptive hit chance as i love that mod

Figured out what the issue was. I forgot I was using the Game Speed mod. Removed it and the issue went away. Added it back and the issue came back. Game Speed isn't an essential mod for me so I'll get a chance to actually dive into this mod now lol

The FA-MAS is a bullpup, not a carbine. Carbines use a shorter barrel to make the size more manageable, but the bullpup puts the action in the butstock for the same. The FA-MAS has a standard length barrel (488 mm as opposed to 415 mm on the AK-47, or 533 mm on the battle-rifle FN FAL)

Probably a compatibility issue, but when I use this mod I lose the UI for aiming (no limb targeting or AP spending)

The only mods I'm using other than some custom mercs are Vanilla+ and Descriptive Chance to Hit

@Commander_Keep Thank you for the info, i did that solution because of the poor range they gave the gun. My famas balance is also the one I am the least happy with and i am open to suggestions. I just dont want the solution to be make the stats the same as the M4 lol.

Hello, Famas information, its a bullpup it is similar to an m16 but with the size of an m4 :
FAMAS has a 19-inch barrel with an overall length of 29 inches—the American M4 carbine, by contrast, has a 14.5-inch barrel but an overall length of 33 inches.

Fanning shot is not as they both modify the revolvers differently!
